Don Williams got his start in Pop/Folk music as a member of the Pozo Second singers...quite the upgrade to the country superstar he became and the icon he will continue to be...
OMG! You made it to Don Williams! One of the best voices ever! On a particularly terrible contract job I worked I started every day with Don Williams and Lord I Hope This Day Is Good. He surely made a difference for me! R.I.P. Don. ♥️
Love Don Williams. He has so many great songs. I think my favorite is Good Ole Boys Like Me. He also did a duet with Keith Urban on his song Imagine That. Definitely an OG.
OG for sure! Just listen to " Good ole boys like me " and you'll understand Don Williams, I think. He also writes this stuff so keep enjoying this rabbit hole! I used to enjoy Canadian Whiskey when I over indulged. Amelas
Don williams had one of the smoothest voice to ever grace country music. No flashy lights and costumes, no smoke or fire, no yelling and screaming trying to hit a note. Just good music and amazing vocals
YES! Don Williams is one of the best! He isn't flashy or in your face. He's laid back, someone you could just sit back and chat with. I saw him a year or 2 before he went Home and he sounded just as good then as years ago. He doesn't have a bad song. I don't know if he would have ever went on the Lawrence Welk show. Four or 5 awesome songs in a row!!!! I love it! I saw you posted a new video while I was on first break at work and I had to wait ALL DAY LONG to watch! Sheesh!
Some songs to consider because you loved her vocals Pam Tillis-Spilled Perfume, for instruments Sawyer Brown-Step That Step, for a good time Mel McDaniel-Stand Up and for just an under appreciated artist Mark Chestnut-Almost Goodbye. Happy Holidays guys.
Don Williams - the Gentle Giant is a Texas boy. He is one of my favorite's! And you're correct in saying he's a OG! I'm not for sure if he's made a song, but here is some of my favorites! Lord I hope this day is good, Good oleboys like me, I believe in you, Sing me back home.
Keith, during one of the Keith Urban reaction’s, you asked who was his inspiration. Here you go. Don is his main inspiration. Don is an OG, master songwriter.
I *think* I can kind of hear that. Will have to go re-listen to some of the Keith Urban songs we've done to see if I'm really hearing that influence. - Keith
Don Williams started in a band, the Pozo-Seco, until they broke up. He then went out on his on. The song , Amanda. that Chris Stapelton and his wife sang that you loved so much was a Don Williams sang. He had a long successful career in country music.
I would suggest some of Don Williams songs on a different subject matter. "Good Ol' Boys Like Me" "I Believe In You" "Miracles" Don Williams was more country than Lawrence Welk, but he was very mellow.
Would love to see you react to "I'm No Stranger to the Rain" by Keith Whitley. I think y'all would really like him. A few more of his are "It Ain't Nothing" and "When You Say Nothing At All". But I think you would appreciate "I'm No Stranger to the Rain". Just a note: Vince Gill references this song in "Go Rest High on that Mountain".
Good choice, hope you wind up checking out some more of his stuff. BUT - with Christmas coming up, I'd like to recommend Joe Diffie's "Leroy The Redneck Reindeer," or Keith Harling's "Santa's Got A Semi."
You wanted country Keith. These songs were from a different time period that had values. Our world has changed and notice the evening or daily news. You can Sing Me Home Again, and I'll sleep better hoping today was a bad dream. I agree with you on George Thurgood, it was young people's driving music like Duane Eddy & Chuck Berry was when I was a kid in the early 60's. It just didn't grab you like Johnny B. Goode. Peace! Aimless
Just saw Don do this song on a 1990 country show! Now if you'd do the Bellamy Brothers "IF I TOLD YOU, YOU HAD A BEAUTIFUL BODY. And a pool table. Weeeee doggy's We'd have a time! 🥴
It was said that the Gentle Giant was so laid back he made Perry Como look like a nervous wreck. He started in early 70s. My all time favorite country singer.
I understand that the it's easy to see it as a 'she left me' song. But what if she passed away? Then the broken heart that never ends is completely understandable.
I remember listening to Don Williams when I was a kid. (Yes Im getting old) Could you guys please react to Chris Stapleton - White Horse? I think Yall would like it.
George Thurgood & the Destroyer's did a cover of " Move it on Over ", written and sung by Hank Williams in 1947. It was Hanks first #1 hit before there was rock music. That may explain why Hank is in the Rock 'in' Roll Hall of Fame and several other Hall of Fame's. George made a few changes to the song but you'll for sure recognize it. Before George and company did their version Bill Haley & His Comets did theirs, again with subtle changes. It was Hanks first number one hit out of 20 Number ones. Hank died January 1, 1053. That would qualify Hank as the first Super Star Imo. Those bribes could be those three songs for some Canadian bottles. Hank is the OG of country music in my opinion. He does have some good company. Don Williams, Kristofferson, Waylon, Willie & Johnny + many others. Let me know about the Canadian products so as to avoid the Christmas rush BCR. Keep up the good work saving these classics! You might want to send me a muzzle thru Santa. :) Amelas
OG would be correct sir! If I had to choose which OG 's greatest hits to listen to, Don Williams would be in the mix with Merle, George, Milsap, Conway, and Strait! TOP 10 ALL TIME IMO!
Don Williams is definitely an OG. Personally I think he’s a bit under appreciated and often isn’t given his due. Glad you enjoyed the song and the whiskey. Thought I’d try something different and go for a Canadian one this time.
Also I’ve just ordered a bottle to V&T for you to collect. Maybe not an OG but I’d say one of the greatest neo-traditionalists to break out in the 80’s.
I associate Don Williams with the OGs but I'm not sure I've ever stopped and listened to him. Maybe it's because the message is similar, but this really reminded me of George Jones "He Stopped Loving Her Today."
Don Williams was one of the best. His last 2 albums before passing in 2017 were every bit as good as his top hits from the 70’s & 80’s. I think you should check out his song Infinity. It is one of his best but wasn’t a hit.
Ya'll would like Jack Daniels Fire & if you go to the store in Nashville they have chocolate bars like Hershey's only when you bite into it the center of it has Jack Daniels
I don't think you heard Don Williams on The Lawrence Welk Show. But you would have heard another Country Legend Miss Lynn Anderson. She was on the Lawrence Welk show a lot. I didn't care for that show. I, like many other Country fans watch Hee Haw instead!
Ok Don Williams was definitely great!! Still waiting on you guys to react to Jason Aldean “try that in a a small town “ so much controversy you guys missed on this one
Don Williams is the most under appreciated OG. He's not flashy or pretentious, but his music is just enjoyable
Don Williams got his start in Pop/Folk music as a member of the Pozo Second singers...quite the upgrade to the country superstar he became and the icon he will continue to be...
Pozo Seco..damn spell correct...
Don Williams is my all time favorite. I love his soothing voice.
I love all the OG’s and I completely agree. He is at the very top of my list of favorites.
OMG! You made it to Don Williams! One of the best voices ever! On a particularly terrible contract job I worked I started every day with Don Williams and Lord I Hope This Day Is Good. He surely made a difference for me! R.I.P. Don. ♥️
That song was an anthem for millions of us.
Don Williams is definitely an OG country artist. My favorite song of his is definitely Tulsa Time.He has a unique and distinctive voice.

Yesssss! Tulsa Time is excellent!
Don Williams is one of my all time favorites. He has a ton of great music. His voice is so velvety and calming and feels like home.
Love Don Williams. He has so many great songs. I think my favorite is Good Ole Boys Like Me. He also did a duet with Keith Urban on his song Imagine That. Definitely an OG.

Don's song, "I believe in love" is beautiful and a vibe.
OG for sure! Just listen to " Good ole boys like me " and you'll understand Don Williams, I think. He also writes this stuff so keep enjoying this rabbit hole! I used to enjoy Canadian Whiskey when I over indulged.

What a good song. Loved his smooth sound. Legend. 🎼🎤💜
Thanks for playing a Don Williams song ... I haven't heard him in years. Love hearing his songs.
Don Williams was called "The Gentle Giant" because his voice stayed so even and smooth in his songs, and he was a big man
Don Williams is so smooth! I don’t think he has made a bad song ever!❤
don williams is so damn good, nice smmoooth music for a nice laid back sunday
My top 5 that I will take over every other singer in history: Merl Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Sr, George Jones, and Don Williams.

It's been so long since I heard this. I had forgotten what a great song it is, and Don Williams is an OG. Underrated, sadly.
And Don Williams was in the movie Smokey and the bandit 2 as himself
Don Williams = smooth. He may be best known for "I Believe In You", even though that was his 11th #1.
This song reached number one on the charts and was released in 1977. It was his sixth number one.
Great voice! Love Don Williams!
I've always loved Don Williams songs. My favorite is You Are My Best Friend. I also love Tulsa Time, Amanda, and a bunch more.

Keep digging through his catalog. It’s all gold, fellas. Cheers!
It was either don Williams or box car Willie who stated when asked in an interview about the brim of his hat said he wears it
Don Williams was on the Andy Griffith show as one of the darlings
Don Williams was playing in a small bar. in smoky and the bandit 2 ...so you probably heard him there if you have seen the movie
One of the best. Hats off gentleman.

Another great song by Don Williams is It must be love

You might think he sounds familiar because he had a crossover hit " It Must be Love" that had tons of airplay.
...and No, we don't put maple syrup in everything. Some of us actually hate maple syrup. 😂
Think that was Johnny Lee …. Not in Don Williams catalogue
@Nana_Reads You're right.lol . I was thinking of " It Must be Love" , not ""Looking for Love".
Would love to see you react to "I'm No Stranger to the Rain" by Keith Whitley. I think y'all would really like him. A few more of his are "It Ain't Nothing" and "When You Say Nothing At All". Country music’s “gentle giant”, one of my favorites
Good ole dancing music
The Gentle Giant, such a good man, missed by many of us.
The SMOOTHEST of the OG's - he was the vry epitome of COOL!!!!! One of the very best in the 60-80's!!
Just saw Don do this song on a 1990 country show! Now if you'd do the Bellamy Brothers "IF I TOLD YOU, YOU HAD A BEAUTIFUL BODY. And a pool table. Weeeee doggy's We'd have a time! 🥴

Don Williams is the rooster that sings in the Disney Robinhood
That was actually Roger Miller, another OG. Love him!
I understand that the it's easy to see it as a 'she left me' song. But what if she passed away? Then the broken heart that never ends is completely understandable.
There is more than one way to lose someone.
This was released in 77
Brings me back to Franklin Inn, bar I shot pool for many moons ago! Thanks! Lots of good times, lots of stories.

A good reaction, as always.
One of the best OG. Voice as smooth as glass. Best buckle-polishing music of my college days. My favorite song he does is 'Amanda'.
Do yall still have that Blu Note Juke Joint bottle I had sent a while back?
