Don Williams cassettes in my dad car on the way to school = PURE NOSTALGIA remember the shock on his face that I knew every word to every song... wish I could have seen him live like my dad did, that's coming from someone who doesn't like concerts
Even though I'm a 55 year old rocker I grew up on 70's country thanks to my Mom & my best friend who got a Don Williams cassette for Christmas 79 & listened to it all the time so Don's always been my favorite. He's real country not like what ever that is they call country today.
Am really glad to see the " Gentle Giant" getting some love. Had not seen any reactors give recognition to his work, which has an extensive list of really great music. Thanks for the request Allen, and thank you for the reaction Miss Lovely Young Lady. Well done.
Some greats by him are: Lord, I Hope This Day is Good Heartbeat in the Darkness Love is on a Roll I’ve Been Loved by the Best Walkin’ a Broken Heart We’ve Got a Good Fire Going
My grandmother used to work in an old country store here in TN. She waited on Don Williams one day and didn't know him from anybody else. After he left other customers were like THAT WAS DON WILLIAMS!
He would always go to Africa . can't remember which country. He was a rock star over there. If you want to check out a great concert watch his African ones. His Irish ones are good also. The people over seas love this guy.
If you click on any of his songs you will see the Afrikaners loved him, he found that out and went to Zimbabwe (I think that was the place) in like the mid-90s, and they treated him like Royalty, they loved the Gentle Giant. And you can tell, half the comments are Afrikaners' names. That kind of puzzled me the first time I saw it, LOL.
My Dad was in a rockabilly band with him during the mid-late 50s. He thought the world of him. He lost touch with him when Don moved back to Texas, so I never had the opportunity to meet him. Always revered his talent, though.
77 yr old , involved in music since the 50s.I, as you have, discovered the beauty and moral lessons in most country music.....glad you see it for what it s....I could give you many examples of the country stories, ask my help any time.....you are a true fan who understands that music is meant to make us feel an emotion....good for you , good luck on your journey if you want good stories try Marty Robbins sings Mr Shorty or John Prine Jesus the missing years, Sam Stone or Hello in There....very good stories and lessons......welcome to the beauty of the country voice..it helps that you come across as sweeter than peach cobbler......thanks TNT, thanks

Man, it's been so long since I heard this song or even thought about it. My sincere gratitude to the subscriber who suggested it. It brought back such good memories. And thank you, Tasha, for your wonderful reaction to it. It seems no one write songs like this anymore. I'm probably wrong, but it's OK - I'm used to being wrong. It's what I do. God bless, Tasha.
So many good country singers and song writers over the last 100 years ... you’ve got so much good music to discover in your journey. Don’t miss out on the ladies ... Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Patty Loveless, Martina McBride, EMMYLOU HARRIS, Reba, The Judd’s , then Winonna Judd by herself, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Anne Murray, ... wow ... just so much good music... your ears are gonna love you for taking this journey ...
@@paulwoolley4957 Holy Cow! You are correct. My father would smack the back of my head if he were alive because he LOVED Patsy Cline ... but also Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins, Ed Ames, Frankie Lane, the Statler Brothers... dang - so much good music and vocalists

Went to zimbabwe Africa back in 2004. They love Don there! Our tourist guide was chilling to this song! That was the best vacation of my life! The people are so kind and humble!
Fun fact…. Don Williams was so big in Africa that there is a documentary out there somewhere that followed him through parts of the continent. He was super popular and made several trips there.
Don Williams has many great songs. There are many great singers(male & female) to discover in real Country Music. So glad I grew up with singers who knew how to sing, even without music. It's so sad.......Auto tune became the death of not only Country Music, but all music. No talent needed to sing today.
I had a cat named Amanda. She was an orange Maine Coon mix with soft, fluffy fur and a sweet little face. Amanda passed away in June of 2018. She is so loved and missed.
You must really love to go dancing, reminds me of the way my wife acted when listening to good music,,we went dancing almost ever week end ,50 years ago,not so much now and I miss those days. Thank you for keeping the music alive

Underrated legend. The guy is timeless. So smooth. And he was so genuine as a MAN!
I love this song. Don Williams has always been a favorite. This is buckle polishing music to dance to.
He was nicknamed The Gentle Giant. A really big man, soft spoken, golden voice, soothed those nerves.
My philosophy is "who need drugs or alcohol" when you have Don Williams to get mellow.

Another to look at is Alabama. They had some insane harmony.
