Currently running a rlc16 410 with 16 cameras. But wanted a 2nd nvr in a different location butnsame network. Picked up this rln36 to extend viewing in live time to circumvent the lag that occurs on the windows app

Could you expand the information about the capacity of this NVR, can it record 36 channels at the same time in 12MP ? or what is the limit ?

Good question. The specs say up to 36 channels at 12MP, so in theory yes it can. The conditions to make sure it can will be what speed harddrives you have installed along with the network speed you have between all the cameras. Would I try and run 36 channels on a constant stream, probably not, but if they are on motion detection definitely. I hope this helps.

I've never heard of a multi-channel network video recorder that is important for multi-location monitoring, especially for a larger area. That's a lot of storage!

In this instance the Reolink NVR's don't support RAID, so it will fill each drive up and then move on to the next. That is the only downside of this NVR.

Hey mate, can u elaborate on that POE thing?
I researched REOLINK cameras for days, until I found out that you only have 12 TB in the small NVRs and cannot extend.
Then i stumbled over this one, but now you re saying, youcannot do POE?
My goal: Complete OMADA system with 3-4 switches (POE!) that then runs the cameras.
    Would it work?

The Reolink RLN36 does not have an inbuilt PoE switch, but that does not mean you can't use a PoE switch connected to the NVR. So yes, you could use Omada, run PoE switches and then connect up the RLN36 and it would be visible to all the devices across your network

@@The_Tech_Geeks thx mate. Which switches would you use? Goal is to have 15-20 cameras on 3-4 floors (=small business), and then run this NVR.
However ,in each floor, there will be a switch that runs several cameras -> powered by POE ... so POE in and out .
      Look forward .. thanks
(ps. if you have ref links to amazon, feel free to share)

If you are sticking with Omada then I am not sure there are many options for PoE powered switches. This one is just coming to the market and could be an option - www.tp-link.com/au/business-networking/omada-sdn-switch/sg2005p-pd/v1/

I was wondering if you could help me I follow your channel I purchased a Reolink nvr Rln36 channel 2 rlc -830a camera and hooking it to a POE switch up am power switch and I couldn’t get the cameras to work so I called Reolink. They said I got a pay for a monthly or yearly service. Is that true? If you could help me I appreciate it. Thank you. Have a good day.

Great to hear from you. If you purchased the RLN36 you will have needed to have purchased a harddrive as well to go in it. Assuming you have the harddrive installed and the NVR set up, then all should work. The WAN port of the NVR will be connected to your PoE Switch, your PoE switch will be connected to the internet. You will then factory default the cameras and they will find the NVR and it will configure them. If you have already set the cameras up with the app, then they won't be set to work with the NVR< so factory default them and they will find the NVR and it will work from there. I hope this helps.

does this Reolink RLN36 has fans included, for cooling ? Should a user add more fans if it does ?

      @The_Tech_Geeks  Рік тому

A good question. This is the offical answer from Reolink -
RLN8-410 and RLN16-410 NVRs with an old UI come with a fan inside. RLN36 NVR with new material also comes with a fan inside. And you can replace the fan of your NVRs.
RLN8-410 with a new UI is built in with a heat sink, so there is no fan inside. The newly released RLN16-410 has both a fan and a heat sink inside, and you can take out the fan to only use the heat sink.
I have though seen people add additional fans, so it is most likely possible.

Interesting. We have not seen this. We saw an issue with one of the fimwares where by default UID was not enabled. Once a manual firmware upgrade had been done the option came back to choose and all worked well again.
