You can strip the "bend-prevention" plastic around the network cable next to the network connector using a Stanley knife*. This way the network connector and rubber seal will fit nicely inside the waterproof connector. No need to cut the cable and reattach a new network connector. *Using a Stanley knife, just cut along the cable until you get to the connector itself. Do this every 45° degrees and all excess plastic will come off easily. Good luck!
Yes! Great idea! I tried this before in another project and ended up slicing through the jacket. I didn't know if I cut a wire inside or not. It's worth a shot and if you mess it up, you can always cut it off and add another.
Just installed this same system and some tips. First you don’t need to cut off the head off the Ethernet but just trim the extra rubber squared edges of the head and it it will fit through. Hardest part is running the cables in the attic.
I used scissors after almost doing the same thing. No, thank you for your videos on the system. They have really helped with deciding what to purchase and setup. I will also hook them up to my TVs via HDMI port. what extender did you use?
Hardest part is getting a hole drilled through the side of your house to get the network cables connected from outside at the cameras to the NVR in the cellar or wherever.
Hey. I finished up a couple outdoor projects before winter set in and I started a new job that required my full attention for a few months. I'm back working on videos for you guys now. :)
Great review! I've been looking at the 5MP version. How's Reolink's online store for Canadians? Good experience with shipping, etc? Where in NL are you from anyway.......suddern shore? I can't quite place your Haccent.
Hey! Thanks! The Canadian online store has been great. Checkout process is nice and smooth. Shipping was fast too, only 3-4 days to Calgary. Dat haccent is from the Clarenville area... lol
1- Do you know of a good cheap third party NVR that can be used for Reolinks cameras s.a. RLC-520? 2- Can this Reolink NVR be used with other third party ONVF cameras? Thanks.
Another great review especially how clearly you explain the whole NVR connection points and what they do, for those not so tech minded.I am wanting to expand my 8 ch NVR via the esata port and adaptor cable, with a 3.5 external HDD (without a case), but can't find an adaptor cable like the one you showed that has power other than USB power.I believe that USB power is only good for a 2.5 HDD. Can you please help?
Thanks for the nice comments! I think you'll need a powered eSata 3.5in HDD Docking Station. It appear there is an eSata data cable and an eSata to USB included. You'll need the eSata cable. This one might do the trick: amzn.to/3nzWv2N
The default setting is to delete the oldest data and replace it with the new. For lots more info on recording settings and options, see my video on this topic: ua-cam.com/video/mBYqALMU4TY/v-deo.html
Just received the RLK8-810B4-A. Looking at my install options on two story, do you cover HDMI wireless transmitters in any of your videos? Are they any good? Is it possible to view multiple Monitors from one transmitter by simply adding additional wireless receivers?
Why would one wish to maintain a video recording for more the seven days or for that fact if there were no incidents to review is there an option to limit recordings to 7 , 14, or 28 days on this NVR. Thanks for the vid.
Can you sum up the energy consumption on the NVR and 4K camera attached running 24/7 365 days. What the total energy consumption for a year? Greeting from Denmark
I think in that example I included a monitor which would bring the total wattage up to about 55w. I created a UPS runtime calculator here: www.hometechdiy.com/ups-battery-run-time-calculator/
I've just heard the guy say these are H-264 protocol. That's very 'old school' Are you sure these are not H-265 protocol. Much better and more economical use of recording space in H-265

No the 800b and 800d model cameras won't support blue iris the rlc410 5mp and rlc510a (that also has vehicle and person detection) or rlc810a (also with vehicle and person detection) I have just bought a new NVR system with the 410 cameras and bought a couple for 510's as I can't get any 810a's or the NVR..
The light the IR lights project onto the scene is not visible to the human eye but the IR LEDs themselves do glow a little red that our eye can pick up.
Weight can be an indication of quality or manufacturing materials. Heavier HDDs are of better quality and heavier cameras tend to perform better in the elements long-term. The NVR's or camera's weight can also dictate the install location depending on the mounting surface. My system wasn't installed in a motorhome but do feel free to check out my installation video.
@@HomeTechDIY does that go for your TV’s as well? I was thinking of upgrading my 32” 1080p tv to a 43” 4K tv and was wondering if it’s worth the upgrade from 1080 to 4k... i have the same exact system shown here. Picture is great on the 1080p i’m just curious as to how much better it is on 4k
One other TV of mine is 4k but the rest are 1080p. Since I use HDMI extenders to view the feed other my TVs it only uses 1080p, and the quality is awesome. When I have a 4K monitor connected directly to the NVR, it's awesome, but it wouldn't justify upgrading from 1080p to 4k. It's better on 4k, but 1080p is still great too.
@@HomeTechDIY first of, i want to thank you for taking your time to respond to me... and secondly, the reason for me wanting to upgrade isn’t per say for “no reason” but more for size increase from a 32” to a 50” so since i’m looking to upgrade anyways i was wondering if it was worth it; if not i would had just saved a few and got into a 49” 1080p (which isn’t much savings from a 50” 4k anyways).
My pleasure. It's definitely a noticeable difference with the upgrade, especially if you are tech nut like me :) ..... as I sit here in front of 4 X 4K screens.... lol
I’ve watched a lot of video about set ups but no one discusses how to properly set up two way talk with a microphone. If you can’t talk you’re just looking at pictures with no interaction.
The cameras do but I have not testing the NVR yet. It seems possible since my ONVIF cameras appeared in the NVR's device list, but I did not add them. I will include a future video on this topic. Thanks
Correct, only internal and eSata drives can be formatted by the NVR where it can record footage. All other USB drives for exports need to be formatted outside the NVR's OS.
Oh no.... not good. Is it not showing as a hard drive or a USB drive (or neither)? Which connection are you trying, eSata or USB? Lastly, what is the purpose of the drive, recording live feed or exporting footage?
I just read online that someone had a similar problem and to resolve it, they unplugged the internal drive, then added the FD and was able to format it over eSata. Then reconnect the internal drive. Both drives then showed.
That USB port is white, not blue. That tells me it's a USB 2.0 port and not 3.0. Did they put a USB 2.0 speed port on a device used to transfer 4K video files? That's lame.
I got to admit, one of the best review I've seen in a while. coming from someone who needed more details about camera mobility! Thank you for this.
Thanks, exactly the info I was looking for.
What an amazing review of everything a prospective buyer would be interested in. Thank you for this!
Nice info, but it would have been nice to see more about the on-screen interface, the networking functions, and the app
What is the reason for the 4TB hard drive limit. Is this just what the manufacturer has tested? Or do higher capacity drives use more power maybe?
Nice System And Great review! Thanks for sharing! 😎👍
My pleasure! I was waiting for your comment. Thanks for watching bud. Another video coming your way soon.

Easily one of the best channels on youtube, that 20fps is what kills it for me, I'll wait a year or three when they have 30fps cameras
Great video!
Hardest part is getting a hole drilled through the side of your house to get the network cables connected from outside at the cameras to the NVR in the cellar or wherever.
Agreed. The sprayfoam insulation in my attic made it even more challenging.
Welcome back!
