I swear, man. Being a Chris Thile devotee and fan is a wonderful experience. Every day is just an embarrassment of riches-and just remember, folks: he's still quite a young man. With any luck, we've got decades of this to look forward to.
You can tell Chris’ solo came right from his soul. He has total command over the mandolin. There are no barriers between what he’s feeling and what his hands create on that strange, wonderful little instrument
Un’esecuzione emotivamente intensa, per la quale ogni volta la rimessa del brano è un repeat infinito. Loro due geni che si sino incontrati. Lo adoro ♥️♥️
Saw these guys last night at the Barbican in London and they were AMAZING. What a shame that was the only UK date this year. Come back soon. They were so filled with energy and passion, thank you for a great time.
"I feel like I’m getting a whole new perspective on what it means to be alive and what’s so special about the world. That’s unexpected.” Also unexpected: Thile getting braces last year at age 33. Thile says there was a major adjustment period to get comfortable singing with them. “There’s a lot of syllables that you just have to move your mouth in a whole new way,” Thile says. “Early on … every syllable felt like climbing a wall to get to the actual song.” The braces will come off in about five months, Thile says. “I’ll have beautiful teeth just in time for my career in radio to start,” Thile says.
Much like the shade tree. Seriously though, it's a little cryptic. The two verses are talking about the flipsides of an action, chopping the shade tree down now is bad (No more shade, sunburn), but singer hopes they'll remember it was him that did it when they need firewood for "bonfires all around town". There's a theme of shortsightedness? But it's also about cutting a tree down? Tough one!

They build on what came previously, perhaps burning it to generate a brighter light for us to see by, but ultimately expanding the range of human experience and insight.
Seven years later, and this tune has lost NOTHING.
I hope none of you think I'm sweating as the tears rolls down my face
Ohhhhh yeah. Of all the stuff these two do together this is definitely my favorite to sit down on the piano and play around with. It’s so pwetty. :)

Thanks to Chris' friends and loved ones for helping make sure he didn't join the 27 Club.
Yep
And don't forget that Brad Mehldau is still young as well... He's "the new Keith Jarrett".
That’s rather a memento mori.
This!
Coming back 6 yrs later for more enjoyment.
This is the most beautiful, touching thing I have heard in years.

This is as far as music can go. Pure perfection. All bow to chris&brad

Mandolin skills are one thing, but that voice.... I'm lucky to have experienced their performance of this masterpiece live!
Most thrilling duo of 2017 and just superb album!!!

Thile; rocking that mando and reaching the stars with Mehldau. What could get any better?
My new favorite song. Incredible song writing, absolutely amazing performance.
Stunning. Mehldau and anyone makes greatness. Thile's young musical journey is a sight and sound to behold.
This is the most beautiful song I've ever heard (performed by those incredibly talented musicians). But it took me months to really understand why!

Do any of you know what this song means? I'm stumped!
Much like the shade tree.

Why do I feel like stumped was actually an intentional pun
I hope none of you think I'm crying
