Great video! You are a good tour guide and host. My husband and I were there in 2017, and your video made me feel like I was there again. ♡ I was the only one visiting the greenhouse part of the garden when I was there as well. I love to study the "workings" of the gardens. Much love from the northwest USA. ♡
Just amazing Rachel, and everything from veg. to annuals looks so, so healthy. Older style greenhouses are amazing. I never get tired of looking at them. Thank you for showing us this.
Wow. I've never heard of a formal garden using vegetables in this way. I wonder if it's an old tradition or new? This was fascinating for me, as I'm just starting to introduce small formal elements into my very informal garden, bits of simple box topiary, or at least what I hope to turn into topiary, as a contrast, an anchor of sorts. And that greenhouse! Holy cow. The shape of the roof, as you said, with that curved glass, my goodness. Thanks so much for this video, now I must look at your whole channel. : )
Thanks so much for sharing, love to travel to gardens, it's something like Versailles only better!! I am more interested in the gardens than the palace. Just found your video via facebook, will look for more, will give me some winter pleasure I'm sure, pining for spring, Sue in Canada
+happyg3100 Hello Sue. I am glad you found my videos and like them. I originally started recording last winter to amuse my friends during the long, dark months and I've just continued. I think we ll need something to sustain us at this time of year. Thanks for watching :)
Wow, it is breathtaking! Being a gardener of that magnificent castle would be a dream for anyone. Thank you for taking us to such wonderful places, I agree when you say that when we are younger we are interested in other things to visit. Now I wish I would have visited more stunning gardens like these when I went to France. But it is never too late to make our wishlists longer! lol ^^
+Antonia Orchids You are so right, Diana. Our tastes change through our lives. It is a positive thing. Thank you and say 'hi' to your mum and that her camera work is perfect! :D
+Trac McNguyen Yes, it is a shame that no one eats the veggies but it is a beautiful garden. The paths between the parterres are closed off to - I guess it would be hard to stop the public picking and eating a bit. lol. Thanks for watching, Trac.
WOW! Villandry looks like such a BEAUTIFUL and INCREDIBLE garden to visit and everything looks so perfect and breathtaking :-) and WOW! at that humongous beautiful greenhouse, thats amazing, my cacti would fit wonderful in there haha! with lots of space for lots more :-) absolutely BEAUTIFUL Rachel, thanks so much for sharing your incredible day with us and sending tons of love and happiness from Waterford to Wexford for a FAB weekend ahead XXXXXX
Thank you for sharing! Lovely video. (I just found your channel through heartfullofhappiness and it's great! Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos and learning more/admiring what you've grown.)
SUPER IPER FANTASTICO.
Grazie. Ciao da Irlanda.
I watched Monty Don's French garden video too. I was at Villandry a few years ago but early in the spring so they hadn't done the planting out yet and I didn't realize that a Large section would be done with vegetables. Beautiful but what a waste of good food. Likely wouldn't want to eat it though, there is a reason why it is blemish free , sprayed with a chemical soup I suspect.
Amazing gardens ! i wonder if we could stow away in those greenhouses, we could come out at night to eat the vegetables, i wonder how long we could get away with it before they find us, maybe they would think a couple of large rabbits got loose in the gardens! :) love the video, hope you had a great time.
Unless I misunderstood you, Versailles has not influenced Villandry. The Renaissance gardens of Villandry have inspired, André Le Nôtre, the gardener of King Louis XIV, to create first the magnificent Renaissance garden of the Château of Vaux-le-Vicomte to finally culminate with the garden of Versailles, without forgetting the sublime garden of the Château of Chantilly and its water mirrors. The Château de Villandry is one of the last great Renaissance castles built on the ruins of an 11th century fortress. The current castle will be rebuilt around the middle of the 16th century with its Renaissance gardens (inspired by the Italian Renaissance gardens). The current gardens of the Château de Villandry are the result of a patient reconstruction carried out in 1906 by Dr. Joachim Carvallo from old plates and texts by the architect Jacques Androuet du Cerceau, dealing then with a typical Renaissance garden of the 16th century.
I did not say Villandry was modelled on Versailles. I did mention that the final garden Room, at 8:48 in the video, is a similar style to Powescourt Gardens, which is modelled on Versailles.
Absolutely beautiful piece of crafted art piece comes to life 😍😍
Couldn't agree more!
The garden is so beautiful. Thank you for the tour.
+Roy Plant Dharma Thank you for coming with me :)

Lovely garden indeed! I don't think we have anything like this in the States. Thanks for sharing!!!
+draco003 We don't have anything like that in Ireland either. That's why it's always great to visit new places. Thanks for watching.

What a Great tour. Beautiful and thank you. So everything just becomes compost (cabbage) seems ashame no one eats it.
Well, there you go! But a beautiful garden nonetheless.

+Clay Gresham Ha ha. It sounds like a clever plant :D Yes, I loved the gardens. Thanks for watching.
Great stuff. Would you say this was the most "beautiful" garden you've visited? Do you have a Top 3?
Villandry would be up there with Marqueyssac and Eyrignac for my favourite French gardens.
Wow...!!! What I can do with that greenhouse.. :) Beautiful. Thanks.. :)
+John Benedict ORCHIDS I saw it first!!!! ;-)
BREATHTAKING
So agree
Super and beautiful
A beautiful place! Thanks for watching.
