Thank you, Chris. I'm hoping the Red Mohican will be my favourite too. I already love the Allium sphaerocephalon and I'm hoping Red Mohican is like that, just on steroids! 😝Both flower in July so that's just perfect for me.
I hope so, Wanda. I should have gotten more of the alliums though. Oh well, I can always get more next autumn if needed. Thanks for watching and have a great evening.
Thank you for this instructional video. Good planting tip regarding it is okay to plant bulbs on their side👍 Looking forward to your Allium display next season. Enjoy your April vacation.
Thank you so much for showing us all about Alliums and how to plant them, you made it look so easy, lm just too fussy. I bought 10 different Alliums, this will be the first time lve planted bulbs. I have clay soil so l found your tip putting agricultural grit at the bottom of the hole helpful. Would perlite just do the same job. Thanks again, l will now be a regular on your channel.
You are very welcome and a great big warm welcome to the channel. I think perlite should be fine at the base of your allium holes, if you can't source grit. Good luck with your 10 different types of alliums. It will be so exciting to see them come up next spring 🌱
Lovely to see Catsky supervising you again . I learnt a lot from the video. I have A. Christophii in a dry patch . They’re hardy enough and can fend for themselves , but I would like to grow some of the alliums in your video . Will be watching it again tomorrow . Thank you .
Yes, Catsky is such a great supervisor 😅 It is fun to try new plants and I am really looking forward to seeing mine next year. Hope you go for new ones to and that they bedazzle!
I saw your astromerias with the alliums! So pretty 😊 I will move my astromerias from the other side of the field and put in a border this year, as soon as I find the best time to transplant them. ❤ from Portugal 🇵🇹
Alstroemeria is best transplanted/divided in April ( here anyway). I have a video about it. As for alstroemeria and alliums together (as I planted), the alstroemeria is a bit too vigorous for the alliums after a few years. I know because I planted them together twice! They just look too pretty together ☺️
During the last part of your video all I could think about was how glorious your purple colchicums look right behind you!!!! You pronounced the sphaerocephalon allium just right. Their name contains two Greek words sphere and cephalon/head, so sphere-headed alliums, I guess 😁
Hi Rachel, I have been watching some of your old videos today, starting with the two videos about Jessie I (very sorry how that turned out) and Jessie II. In a later greenhouse tour, you briefly referred to some caudex pelargoniums I think but you didn't talk about them. Do you have a video on caudex pelargoniums? I have searched but I can't find anything on them specifically. Could you make one? Please. 😃 Every time I get a new plant type, you are there with a video!
Hello and I'm glad you are checking out my older videos. Unfortunately I currently only have one caudex pelargonium. Pelargonium cotyledonis rotted the winter before last when I had to go into hospital unexpectedly and my husband watered it when dormant. I did ask my friend (who grows all kinds of pellies) if she has such a video on her channel, Potted Jewels, but she doesn't really do UA-cam any more and can't remember. Maybe you could have a rummage on her channel. I'm sure she's dealt with caudex pelargoniums somewhere. I hope this is some help. Sounds like you have a super collection.
Hello, your garden is fabulous. I have a question about the 12.28-minute video when you plant your aliums. Are there carnivorous plants in the stone beds? If yes, can you share the variety and how you grow it. Thanks in advance
@@JulyJulysson hello there and thank you for your comment. Yes, Indeed. I've been growing carnivorous sarracenia outdoors for years. Mine are hybrids. This video should give you more information... ua-cam.com/video/DVHUcZCe1p4/v-deo.htmlsi=WgndLpbpdpYrC3ui
Hi, i don't know why but alliums don't flower next year even globmaster. All of their bulbs getting smaller and smaller, and ended up some small leaves. Do you have any advice how to get blooms for year after year? Thanks in advance.
'Purple Sensation' is the allium that's generally recommended as the most reliable to come back so, if you haven't tried it, please do. Make sure your alliums have good light and a handful of grit planted under them. Also make sure that they are not planted among extra vigorous competition. Alstroemeria, for example, is not a good companion plant for alliums (despite me having planted them together several times). I hope this helps.

Cats and alliums! I love it! Thank you for sharing, Rachel! 😍🤣🐈💗
I think they’re all wonderful but the “red Mohican” might be my favorite! 🫣❤️

@@GardeningatDouentza turns out my job usually carries Red Mohican but didn’t get them in this year. Bummer but I went with some purple sensation. 😅💜
Looking forward to seeing the results of your work Rachel. The pictures from the web look wonderful.
Thank you so much!
Hello Rachel, Josh's Garden is going to be absolutely stunning next year. I am so excited to see it. ❤

Beautiful flowers bloom.
Oh yes. I'm really looking forward to them.

You've convinced me to get some Allium caeruleum!
Go for it! 😊

Okay, thank you. Yes Colchicum 'Waterlily' is great but it's a pity it doesn't stand up better.

@ thanks for prompt reply . I’ll have a look a the video . The plants look so gorgeous . 🙏🙏🙏
Do you put horticultural grit under your perennials too? Everything is looking great!
Hi there. I don't usually put horticultural grit under my perennials. I have quite stony well-draining soil.
