@@binanocht6110 It hasn't achieved momentum because not enough people have been affected. I've watched what you refer to all my life, but it really doesn't impact people - until, suddenly, it does.
You'll note that the less wealthy have been getting it in the neck for decades but there's been no real discussion, or even acknowledgment of this in media. Of course not! Media and politics are owned by the 'comfortable middle' and depend on similar people to sit, watch and believe.
The minute people from certain select groups get affected, then it's suddenly 'news'. The most obvious example is the rise in mortgage payments, that suddenly had every news source interested. No interest displayed to the plight of renters mind you, but that's the nature of our media, those that run it and those that work in it.
When the number of those comfortable enough to believe the story is reduced enough, then the owners of our society have real issues. So I get the frustration, but we should recognise that we have to wait sometimes for the comfortable to get with the programme and that only happens when they themselves get impacted.

Gary we are 100% behind you. Hate to say it but I agree that things will get a lot worse for people before they get better. And as people become more and more disaffected, they will search more for solutions and I think that's when you'll get a big explosion in subs on this channel (and hopefully more of a "movement"). Unfortunately you're right though - this is not a short term thing.
I still think we should write to our MPs and in that way, do you think if you made a form letter for all of us to send, that it would help? Or is that possibly something for down the track? Meanwhile, I am doing all I can to spread the word.
I've gotta say too, the way I think about government spending announcements has completely changed thanks to you. I mean, this £2bn "levelling up fund" they just announced isn't going to help us either. I always knew that on some level but now I can see the bigger picture and understand why. People need to question who is going to receive and benefit from that £2bn, and what the wider implications will be for us.

Great to watch your discussion on TV the other day. I think detachment is the greatest challenge, the wealth opportunity offered by the current corrupt system is something some of the other guests were clearly either already benefitting from or positioning to do so. Coupled with the sort of conditioning that convinces them that poor people are simply not working hard enough or budgeting properly, they can justify their own success to themselves and ignore the problem. Change is brewing though, we're far more connected and aware today than the last time this happened

I don't understand why people can't see how bad it is. I noticed going into work at 16 that I was dirt. I saw my Mum working for Loreal at Gatwick airport go from a good, respectable job to minimum wage. All the while they paid millions for celebrities to say the ironic phrase "because I am worth it". But the workers are worthless. By allowing a lot of immigrants from poor countries who the companies could pay less and abuse, it allowed commercial greed to get out of control. It has been happening for a long time and even though the minimum wage has gone up, it just means MORE people are on minumum wage. Then, the economy gives companies the excuse to say "we have to lay you off, no pay rise". Meanwhile, they make loads of profit and as the wages don't move and minimum goes up... They are now on minimum.
The property prices are obvious and have been since the 80s and 90s.
The very reason we are all mentally unwell is because our communities have been systematically broken down. Since 9/11 the media has made us afraid of each other. Technology has isolated our youth to their bedrooms because they are scared of being rejected by others.
The biggest impact on now was the late 80s/early 90s when you had a massive decline in living standards as well as that poll tax. Poll tax was designed to separate and segregate society, funnily enough, it united people through common aggression. They will slip up again as is happening now. The US government are so arrogant that they think they can hide things in plain sight because people are stupid. Our government are doing the same. I don't believe that insulating Britain was a real, homegrown protest... It was designed to make people agree with the removal of protest rights.
How anyone can think ANY of these politicians have any interest in doing the right thing for the people is beyond me. Independent parties can't win seats because seats are bought. That is why our voting system is rigged. Democrasy is dead and that was clearly shown in 2015.
We can win this fight very quickly. We can organize public disobedience. There are more of us than the rich so in numbers, we can revolt. Look at Iran, people have protested for years but only when the oppression police slipped up and murdered someone. It is happening here and we are doing nothing, we need to force our government to obey us.
However, if we take too long, people like myself will be called terrorists and locked up.

All the high and mighty words of Blighty gungho for the Ukraine conflict with Russia, and freedom and democracy! The very real fact of the exponential growth of social/financial inequality during the pandemic is enough evidence that we do not live in a democracy. So, knowing that the term 'growth' has been used and abused to become a descriptor for increased wealth/capital, the real growth requires a mirror first so the same mistakes are not happening by another name, and a map of where the country fits in to the global system. Big endeavour and requires huge effort in communicating about the 'system' of capitalism so that dialogue can form around alternatives with the evolution of a new vision for a democratic egalitarian society.

Don't fund the industry, fund the individual and the individuals will fund the industry, a demand driven economy.
"The People are The Government" is about equality and voice, it is a flat democracy because participants are equally funded and is achieved with Conditional Basic Income in a Congressional Crowd Fund.
"The Economy is The Congress" is about diversity and opportunity, it is a parabolic democracy because wealth is distributed unevenly and is achieved with Unconditional Basic Income in the Real Economy.
All this could be paid for by a 1% transaction tax on goods and services, that over time could rend All other taxes obsolete. Rigt now, tax the rich to reset the balance. A 1% transaction tax is so low that it fights tax corruption by simply making tax evasion unworthwhile. [Iaan: tax evasions becomes un-profitable.]
Money based democracy is a Political Filter that has many advantages over ballot based deomcracy; it is non-binary, dynamic, periodic, forgiving, altruistic, responsive, immediate, diverse, informative and eliminates many causes of corruption. In it's simplest terms, all tax revenue in a period is divided equally into each Citizen's crowd fund account, and Politicians run Campaigns in the Congressional Crowd Fund the citizens buy into, hence, money based voting democratises the actual political process. Ballot based voting is a political filter that leads to strong leadership. Money based voting is a political filter that leads to good decision making. Together they make a powerful combination. Apart, they are not as powerful as together.
Tax is the corruption, it's how they defraud us.

I avoid the likes of BBC and only really watch Sky News because they dont focus on celebrities anywhere near as much as most media. So naturally I only saw a short segment where you spoke with more value in a 2 minute clip than anything I've ever gotten out of the BBC my 30 years on this planet. Anyway, I hope you plan to try to get a lot more TV time on as many different outlets as possible, not just on youtube channels or podcasts. When people hear what you have to say, a good many will open their minds to think "OK what is this guy actually on about and how can i find out more". Obviously that wont be everyone, you're going to have the majority of the media try to discredit your arguments, but I think as long as people with a background and a profile like you just talk, that spreads the message across. If it only gets 100 out of 100,000 viewers to actually understand and start to agree with what you're saying, that's still something.

gary talks about community, but isn't one of the issues that communities don't really exist anymore; if you go by the rates of loneliness and polls on the subject it indicates people year upon year are getting more isolated. so how do we grow communities where they don't exist?
this is the first of gary's videos that i've watched but he seems to have a similar out look on the future as Doug Casey who talks about the looming "greater depression".
but if this dark period is coming, am i wrong for worrying that the lack of community existing is the bigger problem as people will act in self interest, people i talk to about this always say "don't worry if a situation like that happens the country will come together like they did during the war", but they ignore the fact that the country in that time had strong communities. even if you compare the country now to how it was in the 70's when there was a bad recession communities existed then where as they do not seem to any more.

I think we are already there with zero hours contracts, no security in the rental market, and rampant inflation of basics like food and fuel making it difficult for ordinary working people to live a basic life. In addition, this government claims to want to level up and have people on better paid jobs, but they refuse to allow wages to rise to the level needed and are planning on bringing in legislation to make strikes almost illegal. Turkeys don’t vote for Christmas, the rich people at the top of all political parties are not going to do anything about it, they will pretend or lie to us, but they create the rules that give all the money to them, allow them to offshore and evade taxes, while those of us on PAYE are forced to pay tax on everything.
I don’t know how we create change, but we need to, though how we do it when people are focussed on simply sorting out heating or eating is tough, maybe more community programmes so we can help one another, because the government wont

Thanks Gary for your podcast today. I agree 100%. I am a member of the ‘National Leasehold campaign ‘to abolish leasehold. The progress we have made with our Facebook page has been amazing, in the space of 5 years, we have with the help of ‘leasehold Knowledge Partnership’ got Ground rent abolished for new leases. Next step extend a lease for a cheap and fair price without needing to pay a surveyor and solicitor. The Government have committed to do that this year before this gov term ends. Next step replace the leasehold tenure with commonhold tenure, a fair system used in most of the world. There are a lot of people in NLC but there are the few who really push push push…. If we all did this pushing we can achieve whatever we want, and quicker, it’s that straightforward. leasehold has been an unfair system of tenure for 1000 yrs because there was so much money in extortion of the masses that needed leasehold to get a roof over their heads. So everyone out there, believe in your power! Take your power!

What seems impossible is buying the shares of freehold if the freeholder is currently the local authority. Leaseholders that have purchased through Right to buy or other way, are stuck with the contractors that the local authority choose and have no say. They are often paying over the odds for buildings maintenance works and major works. This is awful!

I am working on those ideas but so much of what you are saying really resonates, tackling climate means eradicating poverty and empowering the many, and escaping the elites and oligarchs, which feels a way off right now.
