Great channel I've just discovered! Lovely coverage of V collection, I do lots of sound design for Arturia, nice seeing you playing through some patches :)
I wasn’t a fan of the keybed on the explorer. I had one briefly. For the price it’s ok but not for any meaningful performance. The full sized one has a decent enough keybed so I might get the Korg controller that has the same keybed.
Fwiw, the Native Instruments Kontrol MK3 controllers are wonderful with the Arturia synths and do have polyphonic aftertouch with a nice feel. You have to use Komplete Kontrol as a VST3 host to get the on-keyboard interface, but it works really, really well for me. I love that the parameters are populated correctly for the encoders, and the new NKS2 makes programming quite a bit easier with limited knobs. The Korg Keystage seems nice too (same keybed as my Hydrasynth), but mapping and real-time feedback will be more limited.
good overview! They're not all the best emulations of the instrument but they're all good enough for the collective price ... What's your current midi controller? If you haven't used the V collection with one of their Keylabs I totally recommend it - it feels very nice to be able to use every preset in the collection on a midi controller without even looking at the computer screen :) I don't think the keylab has poly aftertouch but it still is just ... very nice.
@@YukiTheSynthDragon ah right, I forgot, I did see that video! ... well if you can swing a keylab mk2 (it's like $200ish on reverb) it's totally worth it IMO. I am a bit ... particular about key feel though, and it's much larger. I just noticed you talking about aftertouch and thought about it, I was hunting for a midi controller for a while before this one ...
Damn it, Yuki! You are making me want to spend money on things I don't "need"...yeah, I know, welcome to UA-cam! lol! If you don't mind my asking, I am completely new to virtual instruments and am curious: why did you choose Arturia over another company, like Cherry Audio, as an example?
I just really liked the sound of the demos I heard of the Arturia ones and really liked the looks of the interfaces. The cherry demos I heard didnt really sound all that hot imo. Maybe I will see about getting some trials to demo it to myself or even make comparison videos.

Very good video! Please do others about it. I just bought V Collection X
"Don't make fun of my velocity curve"
I need a t-shirt with that on! 😄
Ever think about just getting a used hydrasynth explorer for the poly aftertouch? Seems like a great candidate and you get a hydra as a bonus.

@ I figured you might not like the size. BTW, I really like your new channel format. Keep it up!
