      1Tale4Paws My Conures do this when I'm on the phone with my fiance (their dad) he's gone quit a bit for work and they always grab at my phone like they're trying to bust him out of the tiny box his voice is coming out of lol or my oldest guy will just get really close to my mouth and whisper soft murps into the phone. When people ask me what it's like having Conures I always say that it's like having a very articulate 3 year old that never grows up an constantly needs your full an undivided attention, they are such complex little creatures 😀😅

    I love your birds. I'm a huge lover of birds. I had an African grey parrot when I was 15 and sadly I wasn't as ready as I thought I was at the time for the responsibility so my mother forced me to rehome her. Now I'm older and once I'm fully ready with my bird set up I plan on getting an African grey again. They are my spirit animal. I absolutely adore them. Your birds are beautiful. I'm also impressed you were able to take on such a huge responsibility at 17.

    I Like All The Bird Talk In The Background. I Was Going To Get Me A McCaw July 2022, I Looked Up Some Info, & It Sounded Like Everything They Do Would Be Stressful, For Meeting Each Other A First Time.

      Having Macaws can be quite stressful period (any hours for that matter lol). They love screaming just for fun, and our neighbors down the street can hear them, even with our windows and doors closed lol. They also love throwing food everywhere, can destroy furniture and molding if not supervised, and will always have the potential to bite. Not saying never to have one, but definitely need to go into it knowing what to expect 😂

    Regurgitating and mating behavior comes from all the beak and under the wing touching. Probably also the feathers went for same reason, hormones working.

    Max is stressed out mainly because she doesn't seem to be given many options of when to play/be touched that's something you should ask to do not force. I suggest you watch the birdtricks channel for tips on this

    • @carolineberry5591
      @carolineberry5591 5 років тому +2

      I noticed you rubbing your B&G on his belly and under his wings as well as along his outer wings. I was told by several bird owners as well as read online that doing that causes him/her to be stressed out and they can start plucking feathers and acting out. It is sexual stimulation to a bird to rub it anywhere below its neck and above its feet. They fall in love with their owner and get very sexy acting for their species. My Blue and Gold brings his food back up to feed me, he tries to lick my face and up and down my arms with his tongue, he also taps his beak against my hand and tries to cuddle down in my lap and masturbate or while on my arm. I am so glad I found out about why and what was going on with him. I no longer allow him in my laundry room to pull all the linen onto the floor and him make a cozy nest, and I watch where I put my hands to pet him.

    My mom has 4 macaws 2 african greys and one other i cant remember but we just call him a buzz(thats his name) but her oldest macaw is a brat and totally attached to her.. this last time i visited her i was letting her know we were almost packed and ready to go(while holding my 17 month olds hand) and as i turned to leave her room i thought her youngest bird flew to me like he had done 4 times during my visit.. nope it was her girl who pecked my head and then swung down to start attacking my 17 month old... i threw my other hand up and she bit me 4-6 times before my mom got over to us... i have to say i have never been so scared in my life of an animal... i have owned 5 foot snakes, pittbulls, chihuahuas, my brother had a tarantula.. and these birds are scary!!! BUT! with that one of her birds i love with all my heart she chose me and i love her! Its weird loving something thst scares you the most

    I’m getting a blue and gold from Grandma I would love tips on making a good bond

    • @edmaggio9532
      @edmaggio9532 4 роки тому

      Please see my comment below - Macaws need lots and lots and lots and lots of personal interactions (and they are definitely worth it!!!) Regarding the bonding - Take your time and the more time spent with them, the better it will go. Don't force it - the bird will tell you if it is comfortable with how you are proceeding. Use (healthy) treats to make friends. Ask Grandma what the bird likes. Be sure to provide fresh fruits of some kinds - again ask Grandma. Bonding could take weeks or months. They tend to prefer one sex of humans over the other. Since you and Grandma are both females, that's a good start. And please don't keep the birds locked up in a small cage where he or she can't spread her wings. Let the bird spend the most time outside. Get a good bird stand -a s large as your dwell allows. I hope you don't trim the bird's wings - that is very cruel and illogical since people are attracted to bird in part because of their magical ability to live in 3 dimensions - unlike ourselves. There are lots of good UA-cams on how to treat Macaws and help them adapt to new surroundings. Probably unnecessary to say , so my apologies in advance, remember, they are not toys - they are sentient and loving beings.

      Macaws require nearly full time attention. Without it, they feather pluck as seen for the blue and gold in this video. Unless you are prepared to be figuratively nearly “married” to your macaw, giving them nearly full time attention, you will destroy the beauty that attracted you to macaws. Macaws are perhaps the WORST pets in the worlds - and not for the reason you probably assume. They are among the most loving creatures that you will ever encounter in this life. If you don’t have the opportunity to provide full time attention, please don’t destroy these lovely beings.

    Touching anywhere below the neck is very sexual to bird. It causes sexual frustration and can lead to many problems for the bird.
