Absolutely brilliant video. I normally do the basic things to get my boiler back up and running but this time I am a bit stumped. My boiler refuses to fire. I have bled it and know its getting fuel. It seemed to just stop working as soon as the weather dropped in temperature but not sure if that has anything to do with it suddenly not firing. I managed to get it going for one night and it worked well bit then the next morning it's dead so its like there is something intermittent. Hi. Thanks for the the comment. Does it Humm at you if it does not start or just go through a pre purg , Buss and stop? As for parts we do supply parts. If you emeail us we could help you? Rob
@BartonOilBurnerServices I already ordered a photocell, capacitor and electrodes. When I press the reset button it goes through it's cycle and then just does not fire. Sometimes it's as if it's not making the spark sound just before it would ignite. I figured I could not go wrong replacing the parts I mentioned. I would love to be able to check the fuel mix/pressure is set correctly but not sure what I need in order to do this. From my understanding if this is off even a little it can cause problems starting and running efficiently.

Best video I've ever seen on a Grant Boiler!! Brilliant!! ..... I wish you had serviced mine as I've just paid out a monkey and this guy never did half of what you did on this video! .... Tell me something, when you jetted water into the holes, where does all the water go? My boiler is in doors not out doors. Also at the moment our heating is working great but the water is playing fun and games, one minute it's hot then goes cold, ... Lights up on the boiler as normal, only other issue was the ''overheat'' light came on. From what I've read it's a blockage, is that right? What would you recommend for the blockage as I'm now on a budget after paying out a monkey and it's still not right. Thanks, and thanks for the video.
Thanks for the amazing comment!!. When you wash the boiler out it goes through the condense and down the drain. As for the hot water, The heat exchanger has most likely scaled up. They dont usually unblock so you end up changing them. Thats the most common cause. Hope this helps.
Hi, great video just question about the lowest baffle inserts that drop down into the boiler. There is a chamfer cut on these baffles do they go to the front or rear of the boiler? Thanks H
The pre condense is the bolt in the door baffle . The flue is post condense nd more accurate. However if the meter goes mad in the bolt hole the burner is not burning correctly. Hope this helps!
As I was saying just before Top Class Video, now I serviced a condenser boiler last week but I did "try" get the spiral s in the Tubulars spotless clean as the video tutorial recommended (this was a little used oil boiler but never serviced at 6 yrs old) and the hardened grease like stain on them was near impossible to get shing except after 2 hrs of scrubbing which is way to long to be doing on them ? It was like the hot dishwater had no effect on them, or a stronger detergent was needed, or their fine once you get the loose grease off never mind deep stains?) I guess thats where the experienced pro uses their savy? Was I just over cleaning...Thanks James
Hi. If the boiler has not been serviced for that long you will struggle to clean them totally unless you spend longer on it. If it has been so long the customer should have an extra labour charge for your extra time. Normally they clean in 10 mins or so. Hope this helps.
Thanks again (I wrote back last wk buyt see I didnt send button!!) for your Quick response! Yes I think thats a very fair point a lobour charge would be fair, it was welded to it stainwise, otherwise its alot of hours and responsibility for a cheap service!@@BartonOilBurnerServices Ive seen solide cooker and chimney sweeping be much much quicker no parts outlay for a near name prtice. HAPPY Christmas buddy!!
Brilliant video! If my RDB burner doesn't attempt to fire at all (no noise what so ever) when the timer is on, what could that be? If i press the reset button it tries to fire but stops though 😢
I done a mini service mate on my boiler and followed your instructions, however there is a terrible smell coming from the boiler when it's on,heating working fine though
Hi. Not sure you have something right there . Check it is the correct nozzle and a NEW one. Check for oil leaks etc. If it is Black smoking turn it off as you have made a error?
I thought the test point are on the cleaning door on grant because of to much moisture getting into the analyser and do you not do a smoke test before using analyser.
Hi, thanks for your comment. A smoke test is done pre-condense, on the door, or the paper would get wet, and a check is also done using the analyser pre-condense to get a reading, and then post condense. However, the exit after the condense is the most accurate point. Make sure the analyser is higher than the probe, and flick water out of probe line afterwards. You only get a true reading efficiently after the condense as the temperature is lower. Not all condense boilers have a test port in the door. We didn't show everything in the video, and other stuff is also missing, hence why we say to get your boiler serviced by an OFTEC registered engineer. There are some things we have to keep secret 🤣Well done though for also doing this, it's good to hear you're on it also 👍
I have this very same boiler and set up its outside in my back garden.... Since last night I've noticed a smell of kerosene in my home?? Any ideas why?? Does kerosene travel through the 2 pipes that enter my home from the boiler through the wall?? Or is that just water any help I would really appreciate it thank you
Hi. You will smell kerosene anywhere even if it is a tiny drop . Also double check the boiler emissions are ok ie is the boiler smoking this will also smell in the house! Hope this helps
Thank you for excellent explanation. I have Same model . It stope after while of running ?? I have to go out and press the RED button to start it again ?? Any idea how to fix this problem? Pls advice ?
so what's the biggest difference between this heater and the ones in Canada/USA? is the service much different or practically the same? I think I remember a lot of people having a becket burner
Interesting how it should be done. I am wondering how my grant currently has clean , cold water, leaking and the heat exchanger has megatons of soaking soot and or water on each baffle with some of them corroded, pitted and a couple in two halves. Every year someone turns up and brushes and vacuums, so what's gone wrong?
Hi. Thanks for the comment. Its a job to tell with out pictures or looking but sounds like you have a few issues there. I would get your local Oftec engineer to look at it.
why the burner works ok outside and after installing it in the boiler it works and turns off. The boiler and chimney is cleaned too. It works perfectly outside. It is a new model, it is 4 years old.Thx
Hi.Its not reading the light correctly. On that model the nozzle needs to be correct and the flame distance is to be exact also then all should be ok. If not i would suggest a new photocell. Its hard unless i look really. Have a good weekend.
Thanks for the comment. On the 26/36 they had a spell where they had 5uf ones, also some have 5uf on the wall mounts. The one on this video was def a 5uf from factory as i have never changed it and it is fitted in my house!. Hope this helps you. Have a great weekend

30 oil boilers in my housing estate i can tell you even if 3 of of them where serviced annually there not getting 30percent of the service than gone on here
Thanks for the comment. The burner on an oil boiler has an oil pump to pressurised the oil to go through the nozzle to vaporise it which is then ignited, where as gas is just available on tap as it were to ignite it. Apart from that the basic boilers do the same thing. We do only however do gas so i could be slightly wrong!!!!!🤣

@@jamesmd Happy Christams and new year.
Brilliant video! If my RDB burner doesn't attempt to fire at all (no noise what so ever) when the timer is on, what could that be? If i press the reset button it tries to fire but stops though 😢
Hi. Does it hum at you when you press the reset or does the fan go then you here a buzz then it stops? Thanks Rob
@BartonOilBurnerServices got sorted I didn't realise there was 3 more deep Chambers I hadn't cleaned,thank you
I would love to see your technical way you service
Thanks for the comment. The best advise on servicing is knoe the products well and take your time and be thorough!
Brilliant video
Thanks for the great comment!
There are some things we have to keep secret 🤣Well done though for also doing this, it's good to hear you're on it also 👍
Where do you get your 20mm fibre glass rope from ?
Hi. We get it from Abgo Spares. Thanks for the comment!
The old plywood laying against the tank I agree with but to near the fence bullshit
Totally agree mate. Some rules are just daft! Have a good weekend.
Hi. This could be many things but the most common will be the motor capacitor. Thanks for following us and hope this helps!
so what's the biggest difference between this heater and the ones in Canada/USA? is the service much different or practically the same? I think I remember a lot of people having a becket burner
Thanks for the comment . I have no idea to be honest. We have not branched out to canada yet . Have a great weekend.
Im going to start doing what you do for servicing.
Thanks for the comment. It pays in the long run to avoid issues further down the road
Are the baffels in the correct position, are all the vortex baffles the same fitting 😊
Yes they are correct mate. I double checked in case! there are differnt baffles in the differnt output vortex as a rule
Just wondering what causes excessive noise from an oil burner. My parents have an oil fired range cooker which sounds like an old tractor.
Hi. Thanks for the comment. Normally the bearings have failed or it is not set up correctly. Hope this helps.
How much do you charge for a grant sevice jet and flexi.
Great content.
Thanks for the comment. I do not share prices on this platform for obvious reason, Happy to chat to you by phone if that helps! Keep up the good work!
why the burner works ok outside and after installing it in the boiler it works and turns off.
Good man
Well Thank you 😀
Where did you get the little extender for your DPG?
Hi Mate. It is a Riello Part. Part no 3008876. About £15. Hope this helps
It was a 4.5uf capacitor fitted to the burner originally. Why have you fitted a 5uf one?
Thanks for the comment. On the 26/36 they had a spell where they had 5uf ones, also some have 5uf on the wall mounts.
The one on this video was def a 5uf from factory as i have never changed it and it is fitted in my house!. Hope this helps you. Have a great weekend
@@BartonOilBurnerServices it literally says 4.5uf on it 😅
@@dariantakieh1398 That is so funny!! you are so right. Obviously blind that day 🤣Just watched it agin!! some do have 5 uf on though but you prob know that! Have a good weekend!
Is it normal for steam to be released into the air? The boiler is outside and the flue is on the side. With a small cage around it.
Yes normal. Thanks for comment
Could you use a powerhouse instead of the small sprayer gun?
Hi. I do not see why not as long as the water shoots down the tubular hole and not everywhere! Thanks for the comment.
Best place to get 20mm rope seal?
Hi. We buy it in reels ( i want to say 15m?) From Abgo spares 01902790900 or my rep is simon jones 07917772582. Hope this helps. Simon is great
How much do you charge for that kinda service???
Hi. I dont discuss prices on you tube i am afraid but happy if you contact us direct to talk to you!
I'd highly recommend you not carry a burner by the nozzle pipe & definitely don't leave the power cabel resting on the hot blast tube of a burner that has just been running.
Thanks for the comment. I would not carry a burner by nozzle tube and never had . my hand was prob in that area but def not on tube. Also would never lay any cable on anything hot. The blast tube would have of been cold. All basic stuff. Have a great weekend.
@@BartonOilBurnerServices I was only offering a bit of advise & not trying to offend you, but clearly at 5:44 you are carrying the burner by the nozzle pipe. Otherwise pretty damn impressive service techniques.
@@alanfitzgerald6567 Sorry , You caught me off guard a bit. Yes i did hold by nozzle holder and yes that is wrong. I thgought you meant i was chucking it around! also i get what you mean about the power lead but it was cold. It is my own boiler . Thanks for the advise and have a great weekend. Rob
@@BartonOilBurnerServices no worries. I've been watching a few of your videos today & the stuff you put up about Sapphire boilers is really eye opening. Good stuff.
@@alanfitzgerald6567 The sapphire is a game changer. Get on the coarse mate, You will love it !
30 oil boilers in my housing estate i can tell you even if 3 of of them where serviced annually there not getting 30percent of the service than gone on here
I know it does my nut in. Thanks for the comment and have a good week.
Whats the difference between this oil burner and a normal gas condenser boiler. ? .
And before someone comes out with the smart answer one uses gas one uses oil thats not the answer I am looking for 😮😂
Thanks for the comment.
@@BartonOilBurnerServices thanks for your reply
@@Mr-BuBa Your welcome 😀
Do you ever get told you look like Gregg Davis
🤣🤣 No but i have now 🤣🤣 thanks for the comment!
Why would you both doing all this? I just change the nozzle and analyse the boiler and never get problems or callbacks.
Thanks for your comment.
They arn't calling you back because they've found an engineer that is doing the job properly :)
@fonzoo my customers love me because significantly undercut all the other local engineers, yet I still make more profit than them, most days I do 10 services a day and make £700, home in time for countdown aswell.
Yee hawwww 🤠 you need to watch this video a few times and learn how to do ur job before you get reported by anyone of us real technicians and we hate cowboys. thanks Barton I learned a few new things in this vid keep up the great content !
@ryanbutler3375 Doesn't take a genius to remove a combustion door and hoover out some baffles, and I could teach a monkey to clean a oil filter. I just don't have time for that boring shit and my customers love me for being quick and cheap.
After 30 years of doing oil service, cast iron is the only way to go.
I would never service one of these tanks. It looks like a nightmare on steroids. Im all good sticking with my American trash.
Thanks for the comment 😄
