It was a brilliant season. It showed up Brendan for the muppet he is and allowed us to get a real manager. Painful, but ultimately essential to where we are now.
@@MasterofSpiders That's a little disrespectful to a man that helped us get close to winning the league in 13/14. Ultimately, he was indeed out of his depth and the job probably came to early for him, but in 13/14 his system maximized Suarez, Sturridge, Coutinho and Sterling while slotting Stevie into the 6.

..and still so during the bright times
Lallana too has been unlucky with injuries. He is blessed with the flair that English players lack. A joy to watch.
Hendo really was the shining light that season. With Gerrard leaving (and not starting games) and Sterling shining bright but burning quick, Hendo started showing his captain credentials here.

Both are awesome and Gerrard is one of my favourite midfielders ever, but Lampard was better.
Imagine if Lampard was in Liverpool instead of Gerrard. He definitely wouldn’t lead us to UCL 2005 though. He was a bit lucky to have world class players around him all the time in Chelsea, while Gerrard had to play with bums like Jovanovic, Poulsen and Konchesky at some point.

To be honest. Sterling was very good for us that season. He saved us many times
He was the brightest spark during those dark days. So frustrated the way he left the club.
He has been very professional, regradless which team he's in. 49m for a budding youngster wasn't a bad deal for, that was a win-win to both Liverpool and him.
Except for the last couple of games he just being lazy bcos he know he gonna move to city

My least favourite season as a Liverpool fan. This was just horrible. Would’ve been so much better had Sturridge been fit all season. I started to question Rodgers after the semi final against Villa, then wanted him out after Stoke.
Well, that what we get for replacing suarez with balloteli and lambert... and we know sturridge is injury prone..
We were near relegation with Hodgson and you think this is the worst one??
If Hodgson stayed the whole season, then yes, it would have been the worst. But I was 10 when that happened and I obviously remember the 14/15 season more vividly.
Rodgers was possibly the greatest Liverpool manager ever. Definitely the best out of the current era. Had he not signed Coutinho, we never would have sold him, bought Van Dijk and Alisson and gone on to win the Premier and the Champions League. All our current success is due to the incredible Brendan Rodgers

A lot of his goals were pens, and he said in his latest book that he chooses not to celebrate pens because he expects himself to score them. But when he scores from open play that’s when he celebrates

It's so sad to see this as Stevie G's last season. It was a terrible end to a titan of a player in our clubs history. Born and bread Liverpool lad. Steven Gerrard one of the best. Hopefully he may one day get that Premier League winners medal he always wanted for us as a Manager. It would be very fitting. That would be my hope for him in the future. 🙏❤️

I remember when we announced Stevie was leaving i was actually in tears. My wife being a kiwi thought i was such a sisi lol. 5 years later she's getting tired of me running around the house singing we are the champions 😍

Bloody hell I hated almost everything about this season. From the signings to style of play to that very lazy kit.
But the few good things were:
- Henderson started being a real leader here on
- Sterling showing his quality as a 19/20 year old by leading an inept attack (not that that would matter to us a year later)
- Coutinho showing glimpses of his quality and knack for certain goals
That’s about it really.

Tbf Lambert was only signed as an option when were struggling against low block teams, like Chelsea 13/14. Plus he had a decent season with Southampton before. Balotelli was a last dirt cheap desperate signing, after missing out on Sanchez we needed a striker.
To be fair Rodgers tried to bring in top players. Wiliam, Sanchez, Remy, Mkhitaryan ect ect but those guys wouldn't join . It's not like Rodgers intended Lambert and Balo to be replacements, they couldn't find the right player.

Watching these old seasons makes me appreciate the defense and gk we have now so much more! I don't remember after how long we have been able to retain our starting XI for 3 seasons. Usually we would have a good season and sell our best players and bring in a mixed bag of players.

I saw so many stunning goals and great build up play. I almost forget how good is Sturridge and Lallana can be when they are fit. Sterling and Coutinho leading Liverpool well. The team only issue, the defense. They missing VVD.
Nice to see the Ricky lambert goals and Gerrard but, not a season to remember 👌🏻

Brilliant perform from Hendo. The ịnury have made him now weaker than himself in 2013-2016, but he still tries to work 1000% what he have, so he deserve to be the captain, and he is becoming a legend
