    I am almost 1 year out and feel it was well worth the cost... Astigmatism is gone, myopia is gone, distance vision is better than 20/20... I do require reading glasses though but very happy overall...
    This is the best lens for those of us with astigmatism... My surgeon was the best, also removed a small pterygium during the procedure...
    One more benefit, your eyesight will never change meaning I will have 20/20 for the rest of my life, my astigmatism will also not change, and my mild presbyopia will also not worsen as I age...

    I had the LAL installed in both eyes recently. They advised to start out with mini-monovision (left eye focused in more for reading, right eye for distance), I protested as my instinct said I wouldn't tolerate it, yet they said that is where they usually start everyone. I have had 2 light adjusments done so far. The first one set me to mini-monovison, which I absolutely did not tolerate. I can't stand having one eye blury. I have no problem using reading glasses. So my first adjustment was pretty much a waste (for my left eye). My 2nd adjustment was done to try and put both eyes to distance vision, the day after it was better but two days later it went back to monovision. My left eye still only sees up close, and I have double vision in both eyes to some degree. With only 1 adjustment left I am very concerned I wont get close to my goal of decent vision. I will find out in two more days.

    I have astigmatism and corneal dystrophy, are LAL for me? What are my options?

    I’m having my LAL surgery March 13th and 20th. It’s costing me $4,500 per eye. Where you live it could be higher, or lower

    I have -.75 left eye and -1.25 cylinders in my right eye. Would this be something that will work for my vision? Thank YOU

    I decided not to get this because it's not a multifocal lens. You get near or mid vision in one eye and distance vision in the other. You still need glasses for one of the distances, cuz we don't have three eyes. I don't mind needing glasses at times, but the two eyes being different would give me a headache, I would think. Ugh!

    Is there any data that references the lock-ins worsening the vision? After my 1st lock-in, I immediately noticed that I had blurred vision and my distance had worsened. Because I had the 1st lock-in, I had to do the 2nd. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks after locking in and I'm unable to see midrange, such as the menu on the TV and my distance is horrendous. The only thing I can do clearly is read what I'm holding. After my 1st adjustment, the consensus was that my vision was "better than perfect". I had the vision that "others are trying to achieve". I only had the 1 adjustment after surgery and each week prior to my lock-in my vision was superb, which is why we only did one. Something changed terribly and it had to have happened during the lock-in somehow. I'm fearful that it's too late to fix anything.

      Same thing happened to me recently. The opthalmologist told me I developed a secondary capsule or something like that and will need to get it lasered in 1 month. I'm not sure I believe that.

    Great video! Do you still need to wear sunglasses with the the LAL lens?

      After everything has been completed- all the treatments and adjustments.

      Thank you! Yes, you do need to wear sunglasses. Not just to protect the eyes themselves, but also the eyelids. The lower eyelids are a common location for basal cell carcinoma!

    What if some one did their surgery in 2009 can they can do it now

      Usually that would not be advised, because replacing a lens implant comes with a higher risk of complications than having the initial cataract surgery. Lens implant exchange is rarely done and occurs when there is a medical necessity. Thank you for your question!

    Can too much screen time damage our eyes?

    • @dr.elisabeth7778
      @dr.elisabeth7778  9 місяців тому +2

      In the context of this video discussing cataracts, screen time will not cause damage. However, it can affect other aspects of ocular health, such as ocular surface disease/dry eye which can be debilitating in its own right. That is an excellent idea that I plan to address in a future video. :)

    LAL can be adjustable back and forth or just from minimum to maximum dioptries? How many times the adjustments can be done?

    • @TheRealSlowhand

      I required only one adjustment but the lock for my right eye required a third treatment... I am very happy almost 1 year postop...

    • @ShimmyD-u7g
      @ShimmyD-u7g 6 місяців тому +1

      3 adjustments can be done. They told me it can be adjusted 3 diopters. They started me as mini-monovision, which i hated, so that wasted one of my adjustments. Be very cautious about starting as monovision, if you don't like it you will waste an adjustment.

      You should try mono vision contact lenses first to see if you can tolerate it. Don't do LAL if you can't unless you don't mind wearing glasses.

    When you say (minute 6:20) "a MINIMUM of 75 diopters of cylinder so a small amount of astigmatism" I assume that you mean a MAXIMUM of 0,75 dioters of astigmatism... I assume these lenses do not correct astigmatism, right? Thank you.

    • @dr.elisabeth7778
      @dr.elisabeth7778  7 місяців тому +2

      Minimum is correct. A minimum of 0.75 diopters of astigmatism is required to be a candidate for this lens at this point in time. And, fortunately, the lens and UV treatments can be used to correct astigmatism.

    Not worth the hassle. I can't function outside being a driver and have to go back once a week for adjustment, not to mention I can't be exposed to any UV light until after the last adjustment. It might work for an office person or a hermit that stays indoors.
