- Drifting is a fascinating act to see, and drift cars are an iconic mix between power and finesse. Tossing a car sideways into a perfect drift requires not only skill, but science as well.
In this episode of Sodapop's Garage, we talk about how drift cars work, what goes into these vehicles, and what makes them slide. From horsepower, to hydraulic handbrakes, to differentials and weight distribution.
This is The Left Pedal, and here's How Drift Cars Work.
Beautifully explained for someone who has never driven. I can see the picture of me drifting very well now.
Thanks for the explanation! I’ve never knew about how a clutch kick drift worked!
Very well explained, thank you :)
Are you planning on building your 280zx into a drift car?
Also, when will the 1k subs stickers be sent out? :)
I would prefer he got another z or zx to drift. He has done some slides in it though.
Thank you! The Datsun would definitely make a cool drift car, but I’m building it to be a street rod. I’m too attached to the car to commit it to constant track use.
The stickers are currently in production and will be sent out in a couple weeks, sorry for the delay on them but we are working on it!
Yeah, honestly for a drift car I’d get a more common platform that I wouldn’t mind thrashing around. You’re never gonna drive as well if you’re worried about your car. I could see myself throwing a hydraulic handbrake in the Datsun just for fun though lol.
@@TheLeftPedal yeah, i understand, that you dont want to trash the datsun. and i guess having crashes in a drift car is inevitable.
dont worry about the stickers, just wantedto know :)
Good job guys! Road to 2k!
Thank you!
Very nicely explained
Thanks Soda Pop!!
It's a drift car bro...🤷🏾♂️😆😆 awesome video, definitely subscribing...😄
Im not an excpert but i think that drifting is actually slower than if you are taking the turn normally drifting is more of a thing for when u now your car well and u have good control over it
Lmaooo not at all, you wouldnt be able to take a regular turn at the speeds you drift at and would smash into the wall (or out of bounds)
@@Ntrinzc lmaooooo yes at all if you drift it you are puting kore stress on your tires and you lose alot of momentom going out of the turn as you have to slow down so your wheels stop sliding
@@krumrashkov7228 you're right for most turns, but for hard turns like the ones at mountains, drift can be better
Thumbs up
What I've always wondered is what kind of tires are used. Are they specially designed for drifting, or can you use a high-end all-weather street tire?
They have specialized drifting tires now but people started drifting using regular street tires.
very nice video keep it up :) very usefull
