Hey. So, a few important things: - Before y'all even say it, I have no idea how I screwed up Mr. Negative's name at 40:14 like that. I've stayed up to 3-4am the last two weeks scripting, recording and editing this video, so I was probably just too tired to catch the mistake. My bad. - I got a new microphone and an audio interface receiver to go with it, but I'm still in the midst of learning the ins and outs and working out the kinks, so the vocal audio quality might be slightly iffier than usual. Apologies for that, and it should be a lot better moving forward as I tweak settings. - The Fantastic Four building mentioned in MvC1 and MvC3 is the Four Freedoms Plaza building, not the Baxter Building, which it was designed to replace. Thanks to AnimeJason2011 and dannytarver4533 for correcting me on this. - This is likely going to be the last upload of the year! This video took like, a month or so to make and I need a break, lol. Thanks for all of the support and kind words this year and Happy holidays to all who partake!
Thank you for the video and happy holidays to you as well. Would you consider doing a Captain America video when you return from your much-needed break? And take your time making the next one, unsubscribing now that I've done it is such a process that my subscription isn't going anywhere, and I think I speak for more than just myself in saying that if the video comes out a day or week or even a month later just because you slept regularly I'll still be here to watch it when it comes out and the video will be all the better because you didn't lose sleep making it.
@@tehchikon Oh, I'm not taking an extended break or anything, just going to focus on spending the next week with family and friends. I'll have a video up the first week of the new year for sure! I'll try to put Cap on my shortlist, though the scale of his video is likely going to be just about as big as this one, given he's been in just as many games and has as much to talk about as Spidey, so it might take a bit. 90's Bagley art is peak Spider-Man imo. I've never actually played MvC but one thing I've been thinking that'd be super sick is if in a new game they'd let Spidey do more wall stuff (for obvious reasons with "the wallcrawler" literally being one of his most prominent nicknames) Imagine something like Chipp's Guilty Gear Strive wallrun combos, but expanded so that you could get a lot more creative with it. I think that'd be absolutely badass
@@TheSeventhForce Yeah, stuff like Web of Shadows had wallcombat, but that game also weirdly refused to let you animation cancel into wallcling, which drastically reduced its potential application. So a game that allowed Spidey to wheave into wall stuff seemlessly and then beat the shit out of your opponent while running skyward could be beyond hype. Players manually doing their own version of Maximum Spider, ya know?
I think his endings in MSH and MSH VS SF are the happiest I’ve seen Peter, at least compared to other depictions I’m familiar with. That’s actually quite depressing when you think about it.
This is really a great series, but I would really like to see some of the pros trying to play the character and see what crazy tactics/strategies they come up with!
I'd absolutely love to incorporate something like that! ...But I don't really have the reach or visibility to get a pro player's attention, much less their involvement.
@TheSeventhForce No, I think you're limiting yourself, dude! There are already UA-cam videos up of gameplay, and you can analyze and see how some players play them differently from others!
This was the longest vs. Legacy video you ever did. But it is not surprising at the same given this was on one of the most iconic and recognizable superheroes of all time, so lot of details had to be unpacked.
These games were such a heavy part of my childhood, so every now and then I watch retrospectives and listen to the music for nostalgia's sake, of all the videos I've watched, yours are the only one that goes so much in depth with not only character design but even the references to the comics (marvel characters) and the philosophy of the character's theme music which I appreciate a lot. Liked AND subbed.
Thanks. Sometimes I feel a little weird for appreciating these games on the level I do, so comments like this help remind me that there's others that love this stuff to the same degree.

why does Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite’s Spider-Man voice make him sound like the VO guy in a 2000’s kids product commercial, like he’s about to tell me about how many cool decorations I can make with Floam
Good video. And not trying to be picky but I see you are trying to be as detailed as possible, so the victory line in UMVC3 to Deadpool is a reference to "Dennis the Menace". Keep up the good work.
I like how UMVC3 Ultimate Webthrow is so crazy partially due to being one of the most consistent resets in the game since so few characters can escape and even then sometimes they get hit due to timing
There’s also a win quote Zero has after defeating Spider-Man, where he gets a report of Green Goblin causing chaos, and affirms that he’s gonna take care of it after getting a bit frustrated
Even when he’s not top tier, he’s a highly versatile character… which you’d expect a character as recognizable as Spider-Man to be. I’m also glad that Capcom recognized that they nailed Spidey’s theme since day one and didn’t significantly change it until Infinite (and even then, Spidey’s classic theme is still in the game, just not as a combat theme). If they ever make an ACTUAL MvC 4 (as in a numbered entry rather than a titled one like Infinite) I hope they bring back the classic character themes as combat themes.
Speaking of Sam Raimi’s Spider Man despite what Scorsese said about Superhero movies he actually said that liked Sam Raimi’s Spider Man and also said that he likes Sam Raimi’s films and was happy that Spider Man was huge success for Raimi.
The picture you showed for Spider-Man's voice actor isn't Patrick Chilvers, that's Christopher Lambert. Lambert was the guy who played Raiden in the 90's Mortal Kombat movies and was the star of Highlander.
@@TheSeventhForce Yeah, it's very weird. I was going through a shitty movie of his, Cyborg: The Ultimate Weapon, and grabbed a screenshot of how he actually looks like. I also grew up watching Highlander, so I knew off the bat that was Chris Lambert.
Yeah, Raimi definitely has a certain kind of humorous style to his films, even the horror ones but I couldn't imagine his movies without it. That and Spider-Man 2 is just a legitimately fantastic superhero film all around. Probably my favorite movie of his that isn't Evil Dead or Drag Me to Hell tbh

I know this is late, but I’m glad you mentioned the original Ultimate Spider-Man run during the comic recommendations. Not sure how popular of an opinion this is, but it has my favorite versions of Peter and Mary, and maybe even the entire supporting cast. A few things may seem dated, but it’s also a fun peak at the early 2000’s imo. Bagley’s take on a younger Spider-Man design is also among my favorites (not topping Todd tho 👀) Fantastic video, rewatched it today, and your knowledge as an avid comic book fan and New Yorker adds so much to it!
That's a more popular opinion than you'd think, honestly! Ultimate's got to be one of the few Spidey related things I can think of where nearly everyone that read it agrees it's pretty fantastic. And thanks! I figured if there was any video where me being from NYC would be relevant to work into the the script, it'd be this one😂
If you want a good movie about New York I highly recommend you watch After Hours (1985) which is a thriller about the New York art scene and to me it’s probably one of Martin Scorsese most underrated films in my opinion.
I'm honestly glad they kinda skipped the early-mid 2010's with MvC because I don't think I would've had it in me to play as a Spidey voiced by Drake Bell
Even though I can't combo for shit with Spidey (why did they make his standing MP a launcher?) he's still my favorite character from MvC besides Ryu. Awesome breakdown of the character in these games.
I kinda thought about that too, but wasn't sure if I was reaching or not. Glad to know I'm not the only one that's thought of that! I actually wanted to reference that show somewhere in the video, but Toei is notoriously a pain in the ass about footage from stuff they're involved with, so I opted not to.
@@TheSeventhForce Probably, the development team was most familiar with the Japanese Spider-Man and it was the most recognized version of the character among the Japanese public.
6:34 Oh my goodness, I've heard about that reference, but I've never actually seen the panels, that is comedy gold, that guy should be in the next MVC game just so they can reference that moment. (That's also not the only time main Spidey media has referenced MVC, they also did it in one of the episodes of the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon that aired on Disney XD, don't remember which episode though) 32:31 Okay so weird knowledge time, that may be a reference to the series Dennis the Menace, the main character Dennis, a kid, basically bully's a man named Mr. Willson as the main plot of basically most of his comic strips and other media, and that is pretty much how he says his name whenever he calls him out, not sure why if that was intentional but go off I guess, and literally the only reason I know all this is because I've seen the AVGN episode based on the SNES movie tie-in game. And about Spidey in the series... I have actually never tried him out at this point in time, I didn't choose him when testing out MSH on PS1 when I got it, (I chose Iron Man because I was more familiar with his moveset in Marvel 3) I've not used him in MVC2, (Not even on my main team, I'll let you guess who's on there, hint: two of them you've covered) and I've not used him in MVC3 or Infinite, idk, I've just not been drawn to him in these games despite him being one of my favorite heroes, (Despite also liking spiders as much as Ryu) but from what I've seen, he does look very well-represented, (He most definitely has some of the best roasts in MVC3) and he looks like that character I'd play, (As I said in the Cammy episode, I do like me some fast characters) but what I do know, is that when I brought MVCI to play on a family trip, my sister kicked my @$$ with Spidey. (Yes, I am not very good at these games)
Also two things I just remembered to mention, 1, in his idle stance, he has both of his center fingers down, (Idr the specifics) which is how he shoot's his web in... pretty much everything, like he's always preparing to shoot it, and 2, happy holidays to all you people. (Also sorry about the multiple comments YT was glitching out and not showing them when I refreshed the page)
Definitely in the cards! I had actually started on him a while back, but the Dead Rising save I was using to get my footage corrupted, and I had to spend the last month or two replaying it to get back where I was before I could continue working on his video. He'll pop up early on next year!

I've never actually played MvC but one thing I've been thinking that'd be super sick is if in a new game they'd let Spidey do more wall stuff (for obvious reasons with "the wallcrawler" literally being one of his most prominent nicknames)
Imagine something like Chipp's Guilty Gear Strive wallrun combos, but expanded so that you could get a lot more creative with it.
I think that'd be absolutely badass
Oh damn, something like that would be incredibly sick.
This one almost an hour aye!! Watching this with my Christmas dinner!
I think his endings in MSH and MSH VS SF are the happiest I’ve seen Peter, at least compared to other depictions I’m familiar with. That’s actually quite depressing when you think about it.
This is absolutely amazing keep up the great work can’t wait to see more 🔥!
Holy shit, I wish I discovered this channel earlier. Super underrated.
I'm glad you like it, thanks for watching!
This was the longest vs. Legacy video you ever did. But it is not surprising at the same given this was on one of the most iconic and recognizable superheroes of all time, so lot of details had to be unpacked.
My Main and Favorite Heroe of all time gets a flawless representation in the MVC games
Thanks for the Christmas Present!!
Hope you enjoy the video, and happy holidays!
These videos are greatly written. Keep up the good work.
Exactly. Keep doing what you love.
YOO AWESOME! I’m happy you’re finally going to cover the GOAT superhero! Thanks, SeventhForce!
My GOAT favorite hero of all time, the friendly neighborhood, Amazing, Spectacular Spider-Man!🕷️🕸️🌟🌟
I honestly wish I had access to Marvel vs. games nowadays cuz he would totally be my main always
He's my favorite superhero as well! As exhausting as this one was to make, I'm happy I did it. Hopefully I did him justice!
@@TheSeventhForceI forgot to mention here but yeah you definitely did do Spidey justice!
Great spiderman MVC breakdown.
If Capcom recreate a Christmas carol with street fighter characters then ryu as Scrooge, Nash as bob cratchet, guile as tiny Tim, chun-li ken and m.bison as the ghost of Christmas past present and future
Oh hilarious story mephisto once was thanos’s wingman, (context: thanos, the mad titan, was trying to win the affection for a girl he likes and mephisto was giving him relationship advice) said girl was miss tress death it was in the infinity gauntlet storyline (which inspired infinity war)
why does Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite’s Spider-Man voice make him sound like the VO guy in a 2000’s kids product commercial, like he’s about to tell me about how many cool decorations I can make with Floam
Good video.
And not trying to be picky but I see you are trying to be as detailed as possible, so the victory line in UMVC3 to Deadpool is a reference to "Dennis the Menace".
Keep up the good work.
Thanks! And yeah, I knew it was a DtM reference, I just figured it was a well known enough pop culture shoutout that it didn't need my input, lol
Imagine Capcom have it's own Cross Tag with Marvel, Snk, and Tatsudoku.
Capcom cross tag battle that has a nice ring to it
I think half of that would be a licensing nightmare (mainly on the Marvel and Tatsunoko sides)
@@nicksokolowski7709yeah and also sora is legal nightmare and he got into smash
WOOO SPIDEY VIDEO, THATS WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR BABYYYY
This is the most beautiful thing youtube could ever recommend me... I love you
14:39 THAT TRANSITION WENT HARD
That bit was a total accident, actually! It looked cool though, so I decided to keep it in. 😂
@@TheSeventhForce Do it for more costumes, that actually looked pretty cool honestly. Merry Christmas to you and your family btw!
Thanks, Happy Holidays to you as well!
"SPIDER-MAN JUST STOLE THAT GUY'S PIZZAS!"
Minor quibble. That's Four Freedoms Plaza, not the Baxter Building. The FF did live there for a while.
I know he’s not top tier but I always used Spiderman because of how awesome his animations are and because I love him so much.
Imagine if somehow someway if there was a comic series set on earth 30847 post marvel vs Capcom infinite
We almost got that at one point, apparently!
20:55 I always main the red and black Spider-Man color palette
Speaking of Sam Raimi’s Spider Man despite what Scorsese said about Superhero movies he actually said that liked Sam Raimi’s Spider Man and also said that he likes Sam Raimi’s films and was happy that Spider Man was huge success for Raimi.
can we talk how amazing spiderman attacks are, it’s so good it fully shows Spiderman powers
Funny, I was just thinking about this during Xmas!.
Now, I go online today and here it is.
The picture you showed for Spider-Man's voice actor isn't Patrick Chilvers, that's Christopher Lambert. Lambert was the guy who played Raiden in the 90's Mortal Kombat movies and was the star of Highlander.
So weird that multiple movie databases use that for his photo for whatever reason. Thanks for the correction!
I ❤ Spiderman's 3rd color in MvC2, reminds me of the 90s cartoon
I’m also a big fan Sam ramis (sorry for the bad spelling) movies, they are so corny and I love it
Yeah, Raimi definitely has a certain kind of humorous style to his films, even the horror ones but I couldn't imagine his movies without it. That and Spider-Man 2 is just a legitimately fantastic superhero film all around. Probably my favorite movie of his that isn't Evil Dead or Drag Me to Hell tbh
@@TheSeventhForce and the memes lots and lots of memes in the trilogy
29:29 fun fact I read somewhere that ben riley, first name is Ben after uncle Ben and his surname was aunt may’s maiden name
Ah yes I love Spider-Man most amazing work marvel comic book Fox Kids late 90s cartoon and Marvel Vs. Capcom series my childhood marry christmas happy new year my friends also greatness of stan lee legendary rest in peace you celebrate peace.
Also Steve ditko co-creator of spider-man passed away back in in 2018
@@lostmediadetective2590Oh yeah got it thanks lots.
Severe lack of "let's do this one more time. His name is Peter Parker..."

a lot of these quips are actually pretty good but this one actually made me laugh
Spider man sin’s past is up there with one more day in infamy
Had you ever been to the museum of natural history
1:22 fun fact filming for the 2002 spider man movie started in early 2001 heck the original poster and a trailer featured the twin towers
Yep! I think I actually remember seeing that early poster in particular as a kid.
@@TheSeventhForce they forgot to edit out the twin towers in one shot oopsy daisy
Please I remember a manilla effect, like I remember squeezing my hard winky imagining kristen dunst kissing me?? Did this not happen???
7:50 NOO PODDA CWAFEE 🗣🗣🗣☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼
fun fact: MVC infinite spidey is actually Ben Riley, the real spider man died during one of the spiderverse comics. now if that ain’t a metaphor for infinite as a whole
22:59 oh steve ditko also created dr.strange, the question, hawk and dove, among others
Thank god I saw this on my recommendations, this is the niche fgc content I crave
Living on the edge
Fighting crime, spinning webs
Swinging from the highest ledge
He can leap above our heads
I'm also glad you mentioned how talkative characters are in mvci. It can get annoying
There's a few characters I don't mind it with (There's one character on the Capcom side I absolutely can't wait to talk about in those regards) but it gets old really quick for a lot of the others.
@@TheSeventhForce yeah ahaha
Oh super funny story did you know that Peter Parker and J.J. Jameson were once cousins yeah J.J.J. dad married aunt may. JJJ’s dad passed away while on a trip with aunt may
Spider-Man is not just synonymous with Marvel he is their mascot plus he is my favorite character
LOVE THE ANIMATED STAGE SCROLL FOOTAGE IN THESE VIDEOS WHERE DID YOU GET THEM OR HOW?
Marvel vs Capcom’s Spider-Man is my favorite Capcom theme ever.
34:12 this is also a reference to Spider-Man balloon from the Paradise
The Goat
Great video, man!
I hope you cover Gambit one day.
I know that wolverine vid gon be long as shit
At this point, I'm expecting it to be pushing an hour or so 😂
Ok ,bub-wolverine impression
When you started listing the street names like that I knew you had to be a New Yorker
Born and raised! 😆
When I flew in a plane for the first time was to New York
@@TheSeventhForce I got accepted into a school in Manhattan, any recommendations for any good arcades around 24th street?
I know this is late, but I’m glad you mentioned the original Ultimate Spider-Man run during the comic recommendations.
Not sure how popular of an opinion this is, but it has my favorite versions of Peter and Mary, and maybe even the entire supporting cast.
A few things may seem dated, but it’s also a fun peak at the early 2000’s imo.
Bagley’s take on a younger Spider-Man design is also among my favorites (not topping Todd tho 👀)
Fantastic video, rewatched it today, and your knowledge as an avid comic book fan and New Yorker adds so much to it!
I like the part of the video where you did the stage breakdowns for all the MvC games. Will you be covering more of the stages eventually?
I definitely will!
The "MR. WWWIIIILLLLLSSSOOOOONNN" shout was taken from "Denace the Menace". Some of you are too young for that reference.
Whenever we get a MvC4, I hope Spidey gets his web formed weapons and his ability to throw rocks/objects using web like in Shattered Dimensions.
The official name for Spidey's Power Gem Special is called "Doppleganger"
Good news mvc spidey got resurrected in the comics along the other spidey's in the spider-verse comic and so our boy is alive and well
Yoo that would be dope if MvC Pete had a cameo in the next Spider-Verse movie
i think that Spider Man stand pose and others animations are inspired in the 70's japanese Show.
Great reportage! Thanks!
6:34 Oh my goodness, I've heard about that reference, but I've never actually seen the panels, that is comedy gold, that guy should be in the next MVC game just so they can reference that moment. (That's also not the only time main Spidey media has referenced MVC, they also did it in one of the episodes of the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon that aired on Disney XD, don't remember which episode though)
32:31 Okay so weird knowledge time, that may be a reference to the series Dennis the Menace, the main character Dennis, a kid, basically bully's a man named Mr.
That's definitely a Dennis the Menace reference, yeah. Didn't bother pointing it out 'cause I figured it was just that obvious, lol.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on Frank West.
Definitely in the cards! I had actually started on him a while back, but the Dead Rising save I was using to get my footage corrupted, and I had to spend the last month or two replaying it to get back where I was before I could continue working on his video. He'll pop up early on next year!
38:07 Morrigan I can definitely see wanting a photo shoot since she is definitely aware of how hot she is lol
As for Ryu, I like to think Ken talked Ryu into a photo, for more publicity for the Capcom side lol
FINALLY A SPIDER-GOAT ANALYSIS
