I have listened to country music since the early seventies, and i have heard great female voices. I give credit to all of them but there is only one emmylou harris. I do not think one can really describe her voice, is something unique, it comes once and never again. Like Elvis - no contest. Emmy has a voice you never grow tired of, lots of emotion, heart to soul. Greatest female artirst ever, love you girl.

For almost 2 month I came to see you every night ... wife actually got a bit jealous. After a couple of weeks you would say hello to Jim, when I walked in. You were/are a great artist. God Bless you.
I saw this beautiful women at freedom hall in east Tn . She was 7-8months pregnant with one of these young ladies,,. 1978-79? She was wonderful!!! Ricky scaggs was in her band called the "hot band".. the lead guitar player was the best I have ever seen.. a great lady Emmylou harris, great.

I was there at that concert too...Willie Nelson there as well. She was VERY pregnant! Remember seeing Jerry Jeff Walker there too...with Willie...Jerry Jeff was toasted and they kept unplugging his guitar when he would wander out on stage with Willie. He would eventually notice he was unplugged and plug himself back in....
I have seen and heard Emmylou perform in Holland (Rotterdam) when her oldest daughter was stille a baby. She came up a little bit late because she had to breastfeed her baby. Some years later is saw her perform in Amsterdam making the musice she wante do. Boths shows were absolut top of the bill!! Thers is only one person with that voice and emotion in it in the world!!! My daddy, he died a year after my husband when I was 25. He was a Sgt. In the Army-30 years. I was a daddy's girl and the few times he was home I was protected from my bio mom who seemed to dislike me. When I was young he started me singing. Emmylou we listened to the most so when he was gone I could listen to her and feel my daddy and knew somewhere in this old world I had my daddy and my Oma out there with all their love. My daddy told me God granted people gifts. Some big some small but a gift. I've had several cd's of Emmylou and when Red Dirt Girl came out, during bad days her gift would reach out and I loved the calm and great memories and knew my daddy was still my angel looking after me. I finally got one of my life long dreams of seeing this great woman who is beyond blessed with her gift last night in Tulsa. I shed some of the most beautiful tears and my heart smiled the entire time. My new and kind husband and his good friend went through a lot to get me there as he had heard a lot about how my daddy and Emmylou helped get me through some hard times. It was one of the greatest nights of my life. Emmylou Harris took the gift given to her and in return helped so many get through some hard times. Because of her gift I also got to help a lot of broken children for about 20 years and at times would just put her music on and a scared child/ren would start to calm, let me hold or hug them and a bond would began. We don't often think of if we do something-use a gift-that gift can trickle down from one awesome singer down to a child whose life has a chance to be better. So Emmylou, on behalf of myself, and other adults too some broken children who found peace from your gift, "Thank you". Sincerely, Sgt.
