Just a reupload of the deleted video, originally uploaded on UA-cam by someone else.
I am 53 and have had a crush on Emmy as long as I can remember. I am a musician and absolutely love soulful country music. The songs that she does are just the perfect melodies and rhythms and harmonies that move my soul. She is an absolutely beautiful woman and her voice is angelic. She is my definition of perfection.
me too!
I am 63 and always felt that Emmy has the voice of an angel.
Back in the day when you visited someone you'd look at their record collection. The number of people that had on display with Emmylou as the vocalist, either lead or backing, was amazing.
And yes, my crush.
I first saw Emmylou live in the mid-seventies in Madison, Wisconsin. It was a magical experience for me. The Hot Band! I’ve since seen her as many times as I can, but never enough. Her voice, her performance, her whole being, thrills me. I saw her in New York City at a small bar and I was seated less than ten feet from her. It was incredible, as if I had been able to see The Beatles in the sixties in a club. There are many great musicians, but no one like her. I still get goosebumps when I hear her sing.
Is roseanne In the huff can't compare with emmylou
Rodney Crowell wrote this masterpiece. Great singer and songwriter in his own right
This Lady comes from another World, Her music is Heavenly!!!
Oh, I've said it so many times, Emmylou has the looks, and the voice of an angel, she just cannot be surpassed.
The greatest female who ever stepped up to a microphone without question.
There are two kind of men when it comes to Emmylou. Those that are in love with her and those that haven't met her. Willie Nelson.
@@5150pb That has got to be the truest thing I ever heard
You are exactly right!! Damn good taste.
She also helps other artists as does Dolly Parton.
Just like the sun over the mountain top
You know, I'll always come again
You know, I love to spend my morning time
Like sunlight dancing on your skin
And I have never gone so long
Just for telling lies to you
What you've seen is what I've been
There is nothing that I can hide from you
'Cause you see me better than I can
Out on the road that lies before me now
There are some turns where I will spin
I only hope that you will hold me now
'Til I can gain control again
Just like a lighthouse, you must stand alone
When mark the sailors journey's end
No matter, what sea that I've been sailing on
I'll always roll this way again
Out on the road that lies before me now
There are some turns where I will spin
I only hope that you will hold me now
'Til I can gain control again
Out on the road that lies before me now
There are some turns where I will spin
I only hope that you will hold me now
'Til I can gain control again
Thank you very much
My copy of Elite Hotel is one of my mostly prized vinyls I have. She is a true legend!
One things for sure....our Rodney Crowell is one of the best....when it comes to writing 📚...SONGS..🎶...Thanks...✨..
She makes me miss some times in my past.
This song used to accompany me on my long trips through the Nevada desert highways at midnight. The moon would rise in the distance as Emmylou sang this song. I felt as though she were singing it to me.
@brdesert
*She was singing to you, just for you!*
If there is a more heavenly vocalist on the planet, I could not name that person!! This girl can sing harmonically anything with anyone. Emmylou is an unparalleled icon in the industry!!
Spent many a day smoking weed and drinking wine listening to Emmylou in the 70s. That voice just gets in your soul.
I've commented so much on Emmylou, her beauty and her voice. This is one of my favorite songs she does. Her voice is so pure and magnetic. The version on her LP is the best one because it's with her original band. Today's her birthday. Happy 74th Emmy, you are beautiful.
So true.
The harmony vocals by Linda Ronstadt and Fayssoux Starling on the recorded version are so beautiful.
Heard a lot of versions of this masterpiece, GP, Alison K and other. But this version is the best . The purity of Emmy’s voice and the soul she puts into the song us amazing. Just beautiful.
It’s great but think Van Morrison does the best one ever, more feeling, the Celtic thing.
The only other version I have heard is Crystal Gale and I always thought she did a wonderful job. She’s my favorite. I did not know about Emmy Lou’s version until now
Blues Rodeo does a great cover of this, but nobody tops the great Emmylou!!❤️❤️
What a lovely performance of a beautiful song! Emmylou and her talented musicians.❤
Its no wonder Emmylou has 14 Grammy awards to her name , she is simply the best of the best , A Beautiful song
And written by Rodney Crowell!
The guitarist in red wrote this great writer.
She drug her beauty right on in to old age. Next month she will be 74 and still drop dead gorgeous.
Amen....what a classy lady
Saw her sing Wild Horses at Merlefest a few years back. Amazing lady.
Saw her sing Wild Horses at Merlefest a few years back. Amazing lady.
The trifecta, Emmy Lou, Rodney Crowell, and master guitarist Albert Lee.
Awesome voice, my dad passed away he really loved her, brings me back memories from him
Must be very hard for an artist to sing a song with the original singer/ songwriter standing next to them, playing with the band. Kudos to Emmylou and Rodney Crowell for this performance!
IMHO,Rodney Crowell is one of the most overlooked songwriters and singers in the country. I once saw him,Willie Nelson, and Lyle Lovette on a "Songwriters Special" on PBS,and they were all singing songs one of the others had recorded. When Rodney sang one of Willie's "heartbreak songs",he had Willie crying before the song was half-way over. IIRC,Rodney actually wrote the song, and sold it to Willie to record.
Such a beautiful song in this sad 😢 time
Great song, incomparable singer…and check out that classic guitar solo by Albert Lee!
Emmylou the best, Albert Lee the greatest, Rodney Crowell, superb song writer.
❤️❤️🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭
Too bad Roseanne Cash just sat on her stool.
What a beautiful woman. I've loved her for 45 years.
I heard her sing 'Boulder to Birmingham' at the Exit In in Nashville in 1976, and have loved her ever since.
Quanta armonia nella sua voce... 😊🤗😍😘🎶🎸🎶💘💞💋💯🌅
Not heard this song for a few years.
Goosebumps.
Again.
Thank you.
What a beautiful flower God created with Emmylou...I feel a bit more human amid her compositions and music given my lack of social skills...Emmylou understands the human heart and the chords of life like few performers ever do. I love the way she honored Gram Parsons...an honest tear is more remembered than a ticker tape parade.
Amen!
And God blew breath into her lungs and said " sing Emmy....sing.."
Yes and only greatest could come from the breath of the Lord!
Amen..😍😘🦋
Amen to that.
Emmy Lou and Rodney…….True and blessed gifts to us from God.
Love this. I was a teenager then. I still enjoy hearing it.. my altime fave song!!
Can't believe that my hair stylist's cousin, nick DeCaro did the string arrangements on this LP, Elite Hotel. He couldn't believe that I read credits on albums and made note of nick. That was an incredible LP. Yes....LP.
The lady sitting behind Emmylou is one of my all time favorite singers. Roseanne Cash.
I heard she got that special seat by sleeping with the songwriter.
An ethereal voice that melts my heart. And coming from such a beautiful woman. My favourite female singer/artist of all time.
I've said it before and I will say it again. "She's just another woman, the way a diamond, is just another rock."
Mr. Dix, I love that statement!!
I agree, she is quite XXXXX
@@davidwest3151 David, I'm pleased you agree. This woman, Emmy Lou Harris, has way too much dignity, however, to have a X of any kind, never mind five X's, associated with her presence. . . . I've spent untold hours in grocery lines, waiting to pay for my groceries. Not once, do I ever remember her being on the cover of any of those newspapers that no "Respectable Fish," would allow it self to be wrapped in. You know, there called "Tabloids." The newspapers that the Royal Family spends their life on. . . . She has too much dignity for those rags, also. X's and dignity are not compatible in my humble opinion.
@@garydixon4681 Apparently "XXXXX" = "sui generis" and he just wasn't sure of the Latin spelling.
No way she, she is a special diamond made of rock.
Nothing like tearin your heart out on the first line. Lol. That voice
Simply beautiful ❤️
Lovely melodious, amazing lyrics and marvelous singing by Emmylou.
With love.
The purity, the dedication, the intensity and the beauty: how would you describe this music? Country/ Americana? It puts all other genres in the shadow. It is so grown up.
Those dreamy eyes get me every time. Beautiful lady.
Has to be what angels sound like when they sing!!! How can one woman stay so beautiful!!!! Rodney what a TALENT !
I have beeen here 2 hourswatching and listining and crying ----words can't describe ,,,,, ,beautiful
Gosh! This angel from heaven. That angelic voice. She pierces my heart every time she sings. What a gift God has given us.

So true
It's seems everyone just went into dream mode when she started singing
So beautiful song, and she sings it so wonderful. God bless you Emmylou Harris

Emmylou can sail on my sea anytime and dance across my skin. What I hear is liquid gold in her voice. I’ve been coming back for 50 plus years now for yet another fix. One note and I’m enchanted, simply undone!
I fell in love with her when I was 17 many years have passed 61 now and still love this beautiful lady AND her VOICE is so angelic
4:12 - till I gain control again . . . I'm melting . . . What a lovely performance and performer.
Cool seeing Rodney Crowell playing with her, the songs actor. He is a genius.

Flashbacks of the good ole days

God made you special to sing, you are the best 👌.
That voice!!!!
I have loved this woman from day 1. I am 60 now so I've been around a bit....
75 here, loved EmmyLou right from the start, soooo many decades ago...
I got free ickets to see this lovely lady at Boise State in '80 or '81. My now ex-wife wouldn't go at first, but finally... A great show, a wonderful show but the overall experience was like soy sauce on ice cream as usual. That's one of many reasons she's an ex. I have always loved her music, her voice and playing par excellence.
Was für eine Stimme - Emmylou Harris , und Albert Lee an der Lead Gitarre 👏👏👏
Lovely voice. I also love the two Yorkshire sisters' version by the Haley Sisters.
Love this song when EmmyLou does it!
Emmylou she's the best ..........................
an angels voice

Amen to these comments a God given talent indeed
Awesome 🎵🎸👍sweet smiles😊while singing👍
Happy Birthday angel
Thanks so much for finding and reposting this gem. Emmylous response to the feedback alone makes it worthwhile. Only thing I could wish for is to have Linda on harmony.
That's Linda sitting there, right?
@@newkidintown_ no, it's Rosanne Cash
Or the late great Gram Parsons
Love Emmylou! She is The Best. Roseanne Cash needs to Lighten Up.
She and Rodney Crowell were married at the time, and they're still, apparently, on friendly terms even now. But Rodney and Emmylou had been bandmates for some time, and she sings a lot of his songs, and the chemistry between them is unmistakable. Anybody could feel it.
The best right here on this stage.
She's brilliant seen her several times
Emmylou....fantastic!
One of the Best
I have loved her since 1975…I’m 68
Love love love Emmylou.
Hot Band kind of good too😊
Absolutely s-u-p-e-r-b!!!!
Como amo a esa mujer
Albert Lee on guitar - what more could you want
Stumbling in to grace. 👍😊
John Stone beautifully put!😊

Thank you for your reply. 🥰
This is soul touching magic
Awesome.❤❤❤
I like how she was inspired by Joan Baez, wanted to sing folk but then unexpectedly found the purity of country music. She just followed her heart.
Thanks for posting this gem.
এখন আমাকে ধরে রাখতে পারবেন.......
Lyrics:
Just like the sun over the mountain top
You know I'll always come again
You know I love to spend my morning time
Like sunlight dancing on your skin
I've never gone so wrong as to telling lies to you
What you've seen is what I've been
There is nothing I could hide from you
You see me better than I can
Out on the road that lies before me now
There are some turns where I will spin
I only hope that you can hold me now
Till I can gain control again
Like a lighthouse, you must stand alone
Landmark the sailor's journeys end
No matter what sea I've have been sailing on
I'll always roll this way again
Out on the road that lies before me now
There are some turns where I will spin
I only hope that you can hold me now
Till I can gain control again
This is, surprisingly, the first time that I've heard this version of what is one of my favourite songs of all time. Up until now, the only version I was aware of was by Blue Rodeo on their album Five Days in July. shoulda checked the writing credits!
Emmylou and Rodney 💙💙
She's so gorgeous
I grew up w her 8track in my Mommy car,Love this chic
So good ❤❤❤
Albert Lee grew up within a 5 mile radius of Alvin Lee (no relation) Ronnie Wood, and Eric Clapton... I wouldn't mind drinking from that watering hole.
If 95% of all accidents happen within 5 miles of home, why doesn't everybody just move? Stephen Wright
Linda voz!!🇧🇷🎶🥰
Hummit she is unique this woman
