Really cool. Installation of a second processor converts T7820 in a superpower workstation. However, a real problem consists in acquisition of expansion board (3:45), two fans (0:51) and plastic cover (4:00) necessary for this upgrade. For a moment it is difficult to find information on these upgrade items on the DELL web site and, consequently, to buy them.
That's the problem with Dells in general. It's just impossible to find parts for them as their online store is terrible. If you don't live in the USA you're even more screwed.
cpus are too expensive :) still.
going with v4's here :D in 7810, easy install, no riser board. #NOBS
i wonder if shen-itsu thermal compound is still a good choice
Does the Xeon Phi (SVLCLGA3647) fit in the Precision 7820 ? Is there a difference between FCLGA3647 and LCLGA3647 ?
At 1:51 the CPU initially installed backwards on the heat sink magically turns around. Shame on you Dell for not fixing the video properly!
Can anyone help with part numbers for the expansion board and other parts needed as having trouble finding them. Thanks
