  • Learn how to grow your own microgreens at home. These tiny plants are grown indoors and harvested within a week or two of planting. Unlike sprouts, microgreens are grown on soil and under lights giving them high levels of chlorophyll and plant pigment. The health benefits of microgreens are unbelievable, considering their tiny size. They can contain up to 40 times the levels of essential nutrients by weight compared to mature vegetables!
Growing your own microgreens is a great way to get some nutrition from one of the planet’s healthiest superfoods without having to depend on the grocery store. They are especially good to grow in the wintertime when you can't grow fresh food outdoors as easily.
I have been growing microgreens and selling them to our local grocery stores every week for over two years now. We grow sunflower, pea, radish and broccoli microgreens. Our family enjoys eating them in soups, on eggs, in wraps, on burgers, and in salads, or just as a healthy snack all by themselves.
I have created a blog post showing the health benefits and printable growing instructions for each of the four microgreens that we grow.

This was a very thorough explanation of how to grow these micro-greens. I’m thinking once my garden seeds are out from under my grow lights I’ll move on these.
They sure are pretty. I know the chickens would love them too.

Yes! The chickens would enjoy some as well, and they’d probably like to peck through the leftover soil as well. I usually put my leftover soil in the compost pile
