  • Hello gang I have created another guide on making your own customized fan modification onto your PS3 slim model. What this modification does is that it allows a cool airflow and passage to avoid any overheating on the CPU and GPU (RSX).
    The 1st part is creating a front circle opening so it can allow the airflow to pass through the internal PS3 fan. Then we will add a dust filter and 120mm fan filter on the front of that opening.
    The 2nd part is disassembling the PS3 slim to gain access of the back compartment. So we can create another circular opening, add a dust filter and a 120mm computer fan to cool off the CPU and GPU.
    Please take your time and patience in doing this, I am not held responsible if you damage your PS3. This modification is done on a PS3 slim model. The reason why I created this guide is because I did have 2 ps3 systems fail on me in the past because of overheating issues.

    You could've just hit any 12v power pad on VCC+ or even the supply line. Jus saying and then no wires. Personally I'd also use the fans data line as well with the consoles so it will turn off when the system doesn't require additional cooling. Jus me though man, not trolling. when you drill a hole above the fan it prevents the Blue ray from being adequately cooled and thus the drive and disc will run hotter . The motherboard and power supply will perform better though. You will really need the additional fan if you plan on cutting the top. I would like to have seen before and after tests.

    I suppose the original cooling fan sucks air from its both sides (Top and bottom). Even if it can suck air directly from outside after the mod, it still tend to suck air from its bottom (Motherboard side). In this case, will it be better to make the extra fan you installed suck air into the console, instead of pushing air out. IN this case, the extra cool air from outside will further build up the pressure with in the console, which not only supply enough air for original fan, but can also carry the motherboard heat out of the shell via side vents.

    You don't want to blow air into the unit you want to run a fan sucking the air out of the unit all you're going to be doing by blowing air in is not cold air you're just circulating the heat and moving around dust on the motherboard if anything you run two smaller fans one in one out or a bigger fan sucking heat out that's allowing the natural vents of the system to move better air flow never blow heat on top of heat on electronics.

    the ps3 fan is a blower fan with a shroud that guides the heat from the cpu and gpu to the rear exhaust. at most i can see this taking out some other latent heat in the system but the bulk of it is trapped in the shroud or being blown out the back

    why would you filter the air out of the PS3? to keep the dust in and block the filter? It's completely illogical, only a grill on the FAN and that would be perfect...

    • @Bubsy_Mods
      @Bubsy_Mods  4 роки тому

      As you can see in the video in the front of the console I've put a dust filter and under the console I put the fan as an exhaust to get the heat out better. Opening of the front of the console allows the cool air to get in better and push out underneath. To each their own choice whether if you want to do the bottom portion or not.
      Take your time and look under your ps3 slim you'll see small openings around the console. I did this to let out the heat better.

      @@Bubsy_Mods putting a filter on the exhaust will reduce airflow in time once it gets clogged up...let the lints go their way...you will see in time, who's been doing or seen this a lot...knows...making better sucktion pressure/vacum will generate a better airflow...restricting the exhaust and it getting collged eventually is not easy as you have to dismantle the PS3 again to clear it, it's easier to vacuum clean it weekely at the intake...anyway...look it up...

      Bubsy if you want you can try the fix I had to do to the Xbox to get it to even start which took me a sticking in the oven for a couple of minutes to burn off the bad stuff on the hardware. It started back up just fine but it still had the heating problem inside so I’m working on that next. I’m not saying you should do this unless you decide you really want the phat ps back. Don’t sue me if it doesn’t work thank you! Also this was my other Xbox not the church one

    • @Bubsy_Mods
      @Bubsy_Mods  Рік тому +1

      There are other components that heat up inside the PS3.
      1. is the nec toking capacitors and they blow out.
      2. the power supply is also inside the system which causes build up of heat.
      3. the heating factor from the CPU and GPU chipsets.
      You may think the thermal paste might help, which it does to an extent but I still lost 2 systems and this customization has lasted me for a while and the system is still kicking.
