Be careful walking barefoot, it's not really about how tough your feet are, in the jungle there are things that you could step on or worse, that could bite you that are poisonous, venomous, toxic, etc. I remember a story about a girl that died after stepping on some weird toxic caterpillar in the jungle somewhere.
I always hesitate to watch videos where you are away from either of your gorgeous homes. I come to you for the homesteading . But once I click on them I never regret it. You are such a talented videographer in a real way that makes us feel part of adventures we may never take. Thanks Hannah

This video gave me all the feels because I did the same stuff in Thailand 6 years ago and giving elephants mud baths is still one of my favorite life experiences.

This is what I call living your life to its fullest! I got married & had babies at age 23 so I wasn’t able to do these things in my youth, but I love seeing people doing as much as they can in their lives! I am 58 now & just starting to travel. I will probably never get to Thailand, (although one of my sons has been there) so thank you for letting me live vicariously through you!! ❤

I was exhausted after just hearing the itinerary of your travel from Costa Rica to Thailand. Whew! Then plunging right into snorkeling. You know how to push that jetlag.

I was so sad not to be able to come on this trip (cuz of university) but I am PRAYING Hannah does this again next year because a guided trip sounds so much more approachable for people that are new to traveling!

How much does a trip like this cost? I kept wondering
@@belpack8989 they are usually minimum 3k plus airfare. I took one for EF tours and there was also trip insurance ($2-400 and if you don't share a room you pay an extra 500 or so for a single room supplement. And the good excursions cost an extra $40-150. And you tip your tour guide, driver and maids 3-11 percent. You will pay for some food and souvenirs of course ☺️
So you're looking at 4500-5000 if the advertised base is $3000
That being said there are cheaper tour options. You can do a shorter tour. You can literally search "cheap group tours to Bali" etc or "cheap solo tours to Ireland" or "travel tours for young people" students etc. (most are aimed at older people because they can afford it)
They stay in cheaper hotels (most tours do high end hotels for safety and they accommodate large groups and will help them get good reviews, include breakfast and can accommodate a big group dinner. A crappy hotel can get them a bad reputation/review) And some take rail and buses instead of a private coach bus. But when you look at prices advertised keep in mind what I said to add above.
Also watch for coupons , sales and referral bonus from previous travelers.
These tours are pricey but super worth it! And they have payment plans.

Mimosa Pudica - is a little plant that when touched it closes its leaves. She loves the sun; I used to have a few, I am mesmerised by them

In Indonesia I had a similar experience where people would take photos of us. They actually came up and asked to take photos with us. A lot of Chinese tourists have never seen a foreigner in person before. So they like to take pictures, just as any other new experience someone else would photograph. Like meeting someone famous.

Glad to see no riding as well, but unfortunately any tourist proximity to elephants is a very bad sign ☺️ It's tricky as elephants are considered property in Thailand, but genuine sanctuaries are able to create a semi wild experience for the elephants with only contacting from the traditional elephant keeper. Natural behaviour is better for their welfare 😔

Loved Thailand- so easy to travel and see things! Went all over even lived in a small town for 4 months! Thai people are pretty easy going. Hope you enjoy!!
Very nostalgic I went to Thailand this time of year 8 years ago. It's really lovely I look forward to returning one day.
You're doing your 20s right :) It's probably even MORE fun to backpack these days than 10 years ago.
I'm 31 now, and I started backpacking when I was 19 until I was 28. My first solo trip was to Thailand (it's so easy since there are so many young western kids).
However, when I went in 2011, hostels didn't have very many people, and there were ZERO other American kids... everyone was German or Aussie.
I just went to Thailand earlier this year and hostels were PACKED TO THE BRIM and there were SO MANY AMERICANS. It makes it so much easier to meet new people.
But I guess on the flip side, it's too crowded... lol

Interesting. To me it's the other way around. The very last thing I go to the other side of the world for, is to end up crowded by loads of Americans. Thailand is beautiful now, but nothing like years ago. It's all been so exploited by tourism there's very little left of the unruined coastal wildlife without tourists everywhere you turn, and the attitudes and prices have changed accordingly in many areas. Why would it be less interesting to meet Australians btw? But yeah, Indonesia and Thailand are their regular vacation grounds, so alot of them for sure.
I'm old now so travelling to these areas but not feeling crowded by kids who behave like nobody notices (unlike Hannah and her company) can be hard not to mention costly these days.
Like everywhere else Americans frequent.
I travel to connect with and learn from locals and meet people from other parts of the world with other wants, tastes, experiences and culture to share. I'm half Swedish and definately feel the same way about them. Although alot of Swedes have condos and houses in Thailand (whole areas with Swedish family vacation homes) so it's other stuff that bothers me.
I definately don't travel to regard the country I visit as a change of scenery and service help. Which is one of my problems with US tourists, that's most often the attitude just about everywhere in the world.
I really like this video as it's far from the party scene, drug induced kids horsing around I've seen alot of US kids from money use Thailand for. Real jackass college-break style. It really depends very much on where you go and Hannah's done a good job finding a way of enjoying the nature removed from all the hustle, going to a nature reserve. Very smart. Thailand has so much to offer!
Maybe (hopefully) Hannah's generation travells more mindfully. I hope so!

I'm going to Phuket in April so this is a perfectly timed video! I've always wanted to visit Thailand but thought I'd be going to a lot more places in the country - I'm legit just tagging on with family members who managed to get enough airports to get me a free ticket, and another extended family member works at the hotel we're staying in so I've got a discounted room fee.
April is the peak of Thailand summer and it will be super hot. Please remember to not be outside in the sun for too long. Taking some breaks under the shade and iget yourself some cool air ( in 7-11 or shopping mall) but it’s good time to come if you stay between Apr 12-14 as it’s That New Year, called Singkran, and there will be fun activities especially the water fight. Have a safe and awesome trip in Thailand 😊

I have a cousin that moved there years ago and he LOVES it. He bounced around a few jobs after college and then moved to Phuket to teach English and fell in love. It’s cheap, beautiful and the people are great. ❤❤

I went to Phuket, Thailand from Dallas, TX and the plane rides and layovers were brutal there and back. Enjoy your trip!
