DC Cooper is an astounding vocalist - unique tone and delivery. Highly underrated, but he’s my favourite metal vocalist, followed by Bruce Dickinson and Eric Adams.
Thank you for this reaction! Paradox is an all-time classic album -- a desert island album, for me. Starting right off the bat with the connected tracks 1, 2, 3 (future reaction?) and then never letting go. IMO, Paradox is one of the best vocal performances you'll find in the genre. DC Cooper is incredible. Musically, Royal Hunt really delivered a captivating blend of prog metal elements, neo-classical/symphonic metal elements, and healthy dose of straightforward AOR / melodic hard rock. Hooks abound. The band's surrounding albums also have some great stuff, but Paradox was where it seemed the most put together. It's a thick, lush, epic masterpiece.
Nice reaction. Awesome band. Love their live in Japan 1996 album. The 2 female back up singers add a nice little extra flavour to their sound. DC Cooper has such a great voice, he also sang on Shadow Gallery's song New world Order from the Tyranny album btw. Greetingz from the Netherlands \m/
Possibly the most underrated band of all time... Andre Andersen is a musical genius who can virtually play any instrument, compose, write lyrics and produce all at the same time.
I have years telling people to review Royal Hunt. I am a fan since 1996 Andree has the best keyboards in the metal industry.probably this one is their best formation ever.By Teh way Jacob is a Left handed guitarrist
T.S.McPhee The Hunt • ua-cam.com/video/BRIUUBlFVZ8/v-deo.html 19:09 minutes is a single psychedelic art rock electronic composition in four movements, featuring Arp 2600 Synthesizers, Electric Piano and The Rhythm Ace Drum Synthesizer. Entitled The Hunt, it explores McPhee's strong stance against Fox and Stag-Hunting.
Hi Nick, another group I have not heard of. Lol With a few exceptions my head is still stuck in the 70's & 80's where rock & prog music is concerned. This is good. Am I the only one who hears the vocalist from Styx ? Byee Jim X
Yes, at times _D.C. Cooper_ sounded like "Tommy Shaw". You may want to find "Sun Caged" and "Sphere of Souls" from the Netherlands, their vocalists also sound like Tommy. And 2 U.S. bands; "Ice Age" and "Vox Tempus" sound remarkably like "Dennis DeYoung". And all sing for VERY talented writers/musicians in the Prog Metal vein.
You are probably right. For awhile the U.S. was equal, but there are probably more "obscure" bands from the states that I haven't run into yet, that are more contemporary. I say this because I am ALWAYS surprised of bands I find years later and wonder how could I have missed them. Always lots of Thrash and Death Metal from the U.S. still to this day. But now, NO Country/Continent is _safe_ from Metal these days :p.
I like both, but honestly, these guys are on a league of their own, they're not heavy metal, they're just power metal, or symphonic or anything, they're their own thing and the best at it
Vocalist "D. C. Cooper" is awesome on every band (and his solo album) I have heard from him. These guys have been around since 1992! So they are a few years ahead of bands like Kamelot and Symphony X. So they sound like a precursor of Symphonic Prog Metal. I had the album "Clown in the Mirror (1994)" but it wasn't as strong as this album, from what I can remember. Liking that middle part with the harmonies. That was quite beautiful with the organ and guitar :).
I listen RH since 1997

No offense but John West had even better voice than DC

Watching many UA-cam reactions, I've noticed that bands from countries outside of the U.S. are the overwhelming majority of prog bands.

I like to compare them with Stratovarius.

So what is this? Symphonic Prog Metal? Prog Symphonic Metal? Metal Symphonic Prog? Prog Metal Symphonic? Metal Prog Symphonic? Symphonic Metal Prog? 😁
Its Kamelot! . . . no its Royal Hunt music :).
Progressive Metal with 89s vibes. Progressive Hair Metal?
I prefer the Paradox - Closing the Chapter live audio version over this.
Why do you always need pigeonholes. It's just good music.
Para mí son melódico / sinfónico / progresivo
