Even though I think the narrative is kindof dead at this point and we're never going to get a satisfying conclusion to the series, Local58's presentation across a multitude of styles is so much better compared to other series in the genre. I love just watching Kris stunt on people with his production capability.
Also very cool how they managed to turn said second face on it's head with the implication that the creature was looking at the camera at all times. I'm curious if this thing has some relation to the other monsters we've seen. Or maybe not, and Kris Straub is trolling us further.

I can't help but wonder, if it's suggesting that whatever is going on with the "Moon" and the other interconnected phenomena, that rather than a whole "master plan orchestrated by something", that it suggests a bunch of separate phenomena that while related in its source or cause, it's a "free for all" of different entities, creatures, etc that are all trying to achieve their own ends; one to have us all destroy ourselves, another to isolate us and take us, another to become servants to the "Moon", and so on. The end result is the loss of all human life, the collapse of all we know, but these different entities or creatures or whatnot, are so fixated that they wouldn't even blink to destroy their own in the process. That these predators don't care if it's another of their own kind or who have similar goals, they'll prey upon whatever and whomever, even if it would be beneficial to work together.
kinda neat seeing the tape wind back to the “woman”. most low-budget TV channels would just move past it without giving it a second glance. glad to see Local58 still has a good sense of composition
Predators have their eyes facing forwards to watch for movement, prey animals have their eyes facing to the sides to watch for danger. The creature was never in profile. It was staring _directly at the viewer_ the whole time. That's why the child knew "she" could see them despite not being "up there". The creature was gazing directly at its quarry.
Or you could interpret it as a weird prey animal, or worse The accomplice In which case there is a predator somewhere that the viewer does not realize is there Perhaps the upturned gaze is the answer

The downward face is pulling away from the moon and the skyward face is pulled towards it. You too? Did public access in the 90s as a volunteer grip (really, equipment monkey). While it takes some of the scare factor out of the distorted sound and fuzzy images (because we'd know why something would do that IRL), gotta hand it to Straub to get the effects right and not make it look like someone went playing with every filter in the editing program.

The creator really knows how to make the broadcast look realistic because he clearly remembers and understands analog. Most just add a VHS filter and assume that’s close enough and their audience can’t tell either. It’s better to tell your story in a medium you actually understand.

I really love the aesthetic of Night Walk, though it feels a lot more like early cryptid documentary series from the late 80s and 90s than something from 1977. Especially with those zooms and narrator. Either way, yet another amazing video from Local58!
It really looks like an episode of “In Search Of”, which was from the 1970s and covered all kinds of paranormal and cryptid type stuff. Loved watching the reruns on cable as a kid. Leonard Nimoy hosted and narrated it.
I have such appreciation for the detail in every aspect of production this displays....... Truly a work of art that you should be extremely proud of. The audio is sublime

Have a close look at it, look at how many legs it has and the way the arms are positioned, it's not an alien, it's two people who have been fused together along the spine somehow, the slight height difference would explain why one face is always looking slightly up too

This by far has to be my favorite channel. So much interesting lore and creativity. Each video leaves you feeling unnerving and also leaving you with questions. Not many analog horror series do that. I got the notification while driving, so I pulled into a sketchy wooded area for 300 feet and then turned off my headlights to blend in so I could watch this.
1:47 hm, Ig the moon is still being well, the moon. Has the series always been in Mason county? Because if it has, then whatever happened eariler with everyone screaming has seemingly had no effect.
"Skywatching" was clearly merely a portent. Or a threat. Or a warning. Or possibly proselytization. Either way, later Local 58 short do imply that the world didn't end. That said, the in-universe _Night Walk_ episode clearly pre-dates most of the previous shorts. The "Woman in Profile" might be related to the Moon, or it might not.
It makes me so happy to see a new upload. It was the first analog horror and I’ve been following the journey for almost the whole time. I’ve grown up with local 58, it’s a big part of what got me in to horror.
