    I definitely agree with you that less is more. I think that about most things in life. One of the biggest mistakes I see in women’s makeup, especially over 45 or 50, is heavy eyeliner. Especially under the eye. It makes our eyes look small and it’s a dated look. Not wearing it makes our eyes look brighter and more youthful. I’ve also been hearing that cream foundation is best for older skin.

      I still love my liner. I have started using less face makeup

      @reallifewithrobbie5957 6 місяців тому

      Liner in and of itself isn’t necessarily bad. It’s how it’s applied. They do make liners for older women that are softer in color that are really pretty. And you can apply shadow to the lower lash line that is blended out so you get the illusion of liner but not the harshness. At the end of the day if you like it, wear it!

    Love love this video. I also can’t stress enough that sleep is so important as well. I’ve been retired for about 4 yrs and my sleep pattern has gone off the rails. Please stick to your normal pattern, you’ll see in the end how it’s truly important as we age. Don’t believe in that saying catching up on your sleep either. 🙌🏼

    I remember the Caboodle. A friend of mine used a hardware organizer to store all her makeup vertically. Great idea. Thanks for the video Theresa, I agree w/ your tips. I've been using tinted moisturizer and tinted mineral spf instead of foundation. Sometimes this is even too much.

    I'm about to turn 65 and discovered the transforming qualities of skincare plus makeup during the pandemic. I almost never wear foundation, but find that a good tinted sunscreen (I have Rosecea so I opt for mineral types) is enough to even out my complexion. And I TOTALLY agree that a lighter habd and softer looks make aging look more beautiful. Thanks as always Theresa!! ❤️

    The Caboodle is back!! I saw several Caboodles on sale over the Christmas holidays. We are the same age and my Caboodle was full of makeup and I used all of it. I also have very thick heavy hair. In high school, it was layered and teased sky high. Think Dallas and Designing Women. My hair looked great!

    I have been wearing makeup with sunscreen and anti wrinkle ingredients for at least ten years now, I really think that it has helped my skin. I also use a concealer around my eyes and it covers dark circles. Then when I do my eye makeup, I use a soft brown eyeshadow as eyeliner, and it stays on with the concealer base. It is a much softer look at 66 years of age. Thanks for your great videos! Stay warm and cozy!

    Hi Theresa. I agree aging is ok and beautiful. I started wearing a tinted serum. I use three serums ..different nights.,Retinol, Vit C& E and a hyaluronic acid and a two part eye cream. Yes, I have to look in a good mirror because unlike some women my eyebrows have to be groomed most every day and I hate this soo much I get a few nasty chin hairs. No one wants to see those. I agree with everything you say and hope I am doing ok in the less make up look.

    • @antoinettechevalier2453
      @antoinettechevalier2453 6 місяців тому

      Your routine sounds like mine: Lots of serums w active ingredients (retinol, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid) - because they absorb quickly & deeply - two different eye creams, and then quality moisturizers atop the serums. I don’t even wear foundation, just a really good concealer under eyes and for discoloration here and there. I also make sure to shape & fill in my brows (they’ve gotten so thin!); and a lip liner and mascara are also must-haves for me. I’m hoping that my skin-care regimen will do most of the work to slow down the unwanted signs of aging.

    Great tips, Theresa! I turned 58 this year and less is definitely more, especially with foundation - I am always on the search for a tinted moisturizer for fair skin. Most of what I am finding is too orangey on me. I need one of those mirrors - that would be a big help! I found the Cosrx snail serum on Amazon that works pretty well for me. They also have a nice moisturizer and eye cream.

    • @colleenrichards5662
      @colleenrichards5662 6 місяців тому

      I couldn’t agree with you more. I’ve had trouble finding a tinted moisturiser or BB cream for fair skin also, as you’re right, most run really yellow or orange. I have always looked after my skin thankfully, & have only ever used drugstore skincare & makeup. But that’s one thing I’m very pleased about doing. I’ve also had a look online for that mirror & have seen a few advertised. Even though I DO have a lighted magnifying mirror, I really don’t think it’s as good a mirror as Theresa’s. So I may have to invest in one..💄👄♥️
      P.S. The snail serum sounds very interesting too

    I didn't start wearing foundation until I was in my mid 40's and now that I am soon to be 62 I just use my tinted sunscreen or tinted serum foundation. Like you, I just don't like a cakey thick makeup look. I love a simple makeup routine that just includes foundation and mascara. When my husband and I go out on the weekends I will also use eyeliner in my upper waterline, some blush and bronzer plus my foundation and mascara and that is it. I think a more natural look is so much better looking. I agree with all 5 of your makeup mistakes. Thank you so much for your time and sharing your thoughts on this subject.

    I have a regular customer who I just realized is the same age as me (55). I figured she was Gen X because her hairstyle is the same one I had in 1985. In 2024. She's a very nice, beautiful lady, but it seems she's been wearing the same cut (and color) for 40 years. I guessed her age just on the hair alone, though even her makeup is dated. It works for her. She's comfortable in it, obviously, so I don't know how to feel about that. She's happy and rocks it, so I guess it's none of my business.

    I am on the opposite side I guess in that I have never worn makeup, a bit of mascara now and then with a bit of lipstick - but now I find I have no lips and have chicken eyes and need something to give me a face I feel suffocated with foundation, so I gave up on that but lips and eyes would be good - any suggestions? I do moisterize in the day and night and am fairly wrinkle-free even at 68, but I do have age blotches, no lips, tiny eyelashes and very sparce eyebrows. Any and all suggestions appreciated.

    • @TheresaRene360
      @TheresaRene360  6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks so much for watching. I know exactly what you mean about needing "something to give you a face". I'm in the same boat, I have small eyes that "diasppear" into my face now that I am older. A game changer for me was learning how to "tightline" the upper lid, here's a good video that shows how to do it ua-cam.com/video/QviiAfpttmk/v-deo.html Tightligning makes my eyes stand out more than on days when I don't do it. My lips are also on the small side. The trick here is to stay away from dark lipsticks as they make your lips visually "recede" even further. Stick with a shade just slightly darker than your natural lip color and put a little gloss on the center of your bottom lip. This will make your lips look a little fuller. I recently started using a heated eyelash curler because I have short eyelashes that stick straight out rather than UP amzn.to/3vHYJ9o this has been another game changer for me! Sparse eyebrows are the easiest fix as you can just gently fill them in with an eyebrow pencil. This universal shade is my favorite at the monent amzn.to/3vHZfnQ I hope this helps!
