I love using a low gain drive as a sort of dirty boost or preamp. The Timmy, Browne protein, and jive are all great at this. The notaklon sounds like it would fit this role great as well.

Sounds cool and straigth to the point if you look for a vintage kind of tubey sound. Works great in tbe context of the demos in the video.🙌🏼

You absolutely need to pronounce it as "notaklÖn"! I mean, we already know the metal umlaut HAS to be pronounced!

Well-done! Rarely use effects myself nowadays after using them for decades. Didn't know if I was using them or they were using me... Always appreciate your posts though! So many choices and helpful advice!

    Hi Gregor,
great video as always, thanx. I am deeply impressed by the starting bass sound around sec. 20. May i ask you about the signal chain? Whats on it? The bass is a precison, right? Compression, any irs, tube di? I would love to borrow this sound either from you or Kai.😊
    Regards R.

      Hey man
That Vychodil is an awesome Pbass and the pedal simply overdrives. I don’t like harsh highs or high mids (disputable what’s what for bass). Like Gregor says in the video it sound really good with the treble dialled way down. I like that kinda queen of the Stone Age tone best myself. But even at low gain it saturates beautifully. Saturation is compression in the style of old tubes/ valves. I’d say the pedal is a bargain for 99 Dollars with the bonus of the ikea packaging.

bass (not actually the one you see for this part of the intro) into a 1073 DMP Preamp with a REDDI Tube DI parallel. Then both into separate channels and mixed 50/50

I use a Klon emulation for my dirty tone in my HX stomp and it sounds awesome especially with a pick. It's definitely not a $5000 tone though lol. This I could get behind. Great video!

@@yuichituba my signal chain is the LA Comp to the Ampeg SVT amp to the Helix Minotaur (Klon) with the Minotaur being a split path. This way I can mix the amp and the pedal separately. I hope this helps.

People need to realise how compressed this medium is …. No chance one can assess it in comparison to real life dynamics … that said, I have WA Centavo, which pisses on its own UA-cam demos … ( just sayin’ ) 🤷🏻‍♂️
