I so agree that Bonanza lost so much when Adam left. I loved how it was so much about the family unit, he was irreplaceable. Thank you for all the information and keeping our lovely family alive x❤️

Yes, I think it was probably pretty intentional to be focusing outside the family after Adam left, because to focus on the three of them as a family unit would only highlight Adam’s absence

Good evening, thanks for today's video.
The actor who was wearing the same hat at 3:46 was Guy Stockwell. He was the main actor on Bonanza season 6 episode 1
    Invention of a Gunfighter.

How wonderfully expressive Pernell's Adam was.

I appreciated your comments re Bonanza before and after PR left. In the first go around of Bonanza, I seemed to lose interest after PR left. I was a big fan of ML at the time, so my disinterest never made sense to me when I thought about it in later years. Recently, I rediscovered Bonanza on a tv station that plays an episode every weekday at noon. This time around, I’m more a fan of Adam. Once again, when season six was finished, my interest wained (but I’m hanging in there). I think you hit the nail on the head. The stories seldom involve the three of them interacting together and something of the magic is lost.

There's another portrait of a small boy and girl. It also 'gets around' from episode to episode !!! Going from memory here ? I'm pretty sure it was in Springtime, in the home of the family that Adam helped. I've seen it in a couple of other episodes, too, but can't remember which off hand. Then there's that piece of dark stained furniture - that 'gets around' - that looks sort of like a low chest of drawers, with a mirror, and on each side of the mirror are several levels of tiny shelves. Best description I could give - you'd probably remember it if you saw it ! :)

Here's a 'Bonanza Bit' for you. A bit macabre, but interesting, and a strange coincidence. It popped out at me several years back.
ALL the main Cartwright family members on Bonanza - Lorne Greene, Pernell Roberts, Dan Blocker, and Michael Landon - died in alphabetical order - by either their FIRST name, or LAST name. What are the chances ? Weird, or what ?!
Dan Blocker died May 13, 1972.
Lorne Greene died September 11, 1987.
Michael Landon died July 1, 1991.
Pernell Roberts died January 24, 2010.

Barbo, I'll add one more bit to the Pernell-Melissa connection: they actually did a TV movie together, way after Little House, and still during Michael's lifetime. I can only wonder how they both felt about their "family" connection? 😉

hey barb you pointed out how melissa gilbert and timothy busfield married..well i have another one even more interesting then that..pernell roberts was not the only actor to leave a very popular tv show which continued on for many years..over on my three sons tim considine left that show after the 5th season..and like bonanza the show continued to be successful for many years..both shows revolved around a widower raising 3 sons..and on both shows it was the oldest son who left the show..and if all that isnt enough tim considine guest starred on bonanza in season 7 episode 11 (first season without adam)..that was the first acting role he had after leaving my three sons..its also worth mentioning his first wife was charlotte stewart who was the teacher on little house..sadly tim considine passed away this past april..
