Totally agree, all the games I played worked great with the controllers. Impressive that they managed that - Nintendo definitely is the most innovative
Excuse me whilst I go laugh at that. Alright then go and play Tomb Raider: Anniversary with it and you will see just how bad The Wiimote is. Numerous times whilst playing that I was screaming out non being able to use my Gamecube controll pad but couldn't as the game didn't support Gamecube controll pad functionallity.
I really feel the wiimote and nunchuck get too much crap. Sure there were quite a few games that didn’t work right but that downplays all the games that did. Skyward Sword was fun and it’s problems had little to do with the controller and more so it’s structure. Late gen fps were also a blast with the setup.
Agreed. Tbh I looked to use the nunchuck wherever I could, it just felt right with the games I played on Wii, but I'll admit I didn't play a large selection.
Hold up, the Dreamcast controller was GOOD and always felt great whenever I used it. Hell, Microsoft ripped it off for their XBox controllers by removing the VMU and thinking if they snuck in another analog stick nobody would notice, lol.
There was nothing wrong with Dreamcast unless you were playing fighting games for extended periods of time which would cause hand cramps for me and my friends.
I saw absolutely nothing wrong with a Dreamcast controller even with fighting games, I have every good fighting game on the system as well as many many other types of games and had absolutely no problems.
I had no issue with the Dreamcast controller, I liked the vmu addition as well as able to add a second or rumble pack. Also I preferred the Duke controller to the S. Guess I'm part of the minority on that (no wonder my Kinect didn't acknowledge me)
The (sold separately) joystick with the colored triggers for each finger of the fist was super-sweet though. I could have thrashed through Guitar Hero with that so much easier, for example.
At least it matches the absolute madness that is the console...Looks like taped together a 80's business phone and a bunch of SNES cartridges. I honestly can't even being to understand why they make such a design choice. It just looks a first draft of a pre-rendered model that was made, despite being not finished at all. Seriously if you showed the console to someone who didn't know what it was before hand, I honestly don't think they would even the slightest clue as what it was. At least with the controller, someone might be able to figure out and guess some weird controller or remote, due to it's shape and stick, and butttons. LOL, just so much was wrong with that poor excuse of a "video game console" (I know it was more an edu-tainment device for younger kids but still..).
I never had a Wii u but it looks like your thumbs go in front, index goes to the triggers, and middle fingers go to the lip at the back to ensure it doesnt slip.
kingpin 3 Actually yeah, I have a wii u that’s how I usually play, but the wii u controller is comfortable in your hands and it’s not as bad as he said (except the battery life, only about 2 hours till u gotta charge it)

Saying the sixaxis sucked because of the lack of vibration is reaching a bit. It's the same controller from before and some people actually turn off the vibration anyway
Yeah I thought the sixaxis was fine. Played with one for years and when I finally had to get a replacement DS3, had to turn the vibration off. Made my hands numb. Can't imagine why I ever enjoyed it to start with.
@@SuperCloneRanger but the dualshock 3 still had sixaxis controls as well. Then again I barely used the motion controls because the only games I remember having them were Heavenly Sword, Killzone 2 and 3 (might've been others though)

I was a kid when the original Xbox came out, around 12, and I prefered the original controller, the "Duke", over the second, smaller model they released. I had two of each, so that when friends came over for multiplayer, everyone could have a controller, but I was the only one who liked the big one.
Alright alright...the Dreamcast controller hurt my hands after literally thousands of rounds of mvc2. My hands still haven't returned to their open state 😬
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: the over-priced proprietary memory cards are what killed the Sony VITA! If they had at least priced the Memory Pro Duo memory cards equal to what SD cards were being sold for at the time, it wouldn’t have been a problem. But my 64GB Memory Pro Duo card at VITA’s launch cost around $80-$90 when similar sized SD cards at the time were going for around $25-$30.
ah the Nintendo 64....what a great console and great games it had and I will admit that the controller was a lil weird, I enjoyed it and quickly got the hang of it
Wiimote + nunchuck was great for re4, so much so that I have a hard time going back to a regular controller after just pointing at a Los Illuminados to kneecap them and running up and suplexing them like they're some kind of possessed demon train.

We had a blast with the OG Kinect and never had a problem with skin color. Yes, it was limited. But watching my wife (not a gamer) shake her ass to the Michael Jackson game and simply killing it, is something I'll never forget. Fruit Ninja and my daughter were inseparable most days. It was a flash in the pan but a really fun one.

Since when does the Dual Shock 3 controller not have a vibrate function? Perhaps, the narrator had never held a Dual Shock 3 controller and is simply reading from the teleprompter like Ron Burgundy.
Actually the Dukes size was a result of the one Japanese company that made compact folded PCB's not selling to Microsoft since they were working with Sony. As such the Duke needed to fit 2 PCB's inside.
I thought the Wii U controller was more comfortable than it looked. It definitely fits my hands better than the Switch. Also, I think the lip on the back of the controller was a trigger guard, so they triggers do go off when setting down the controller *cries in Netflix on PS3/4*
Hmm, kinect always worked fine when we setup kinect adventures or that dancing title for the kids at family parties (two of whom were dark skinned). It was a total misfire as a control medium for games in general, but I can't say it didn't work at all, it was just very limited.
The sixaxis was pretty much Sony's failed attempt to ride Nintendo's coat tails. Also, the wiimote and nunchuck work awesomely for The Force Unleashed and made the wii version of that game the funnest to play.
Who remembers the Interact / 3DFX Hammerhead FX controller for PC? Not a bad one by any means, probably the best of the era really. This all just made me think of it... man, good old days those were... good ... old.... days.
I didn’t like the Xbox Duke controller, initially, but after playing Halo Combat Evolved with it I absolutely loved the controller. Felt gooooood for Max Payne, and Dead or Alive 3, also. God, I miss it.
Not surprised the Dreamcast controller made this list, but how could you not mention the cord? Short to begin with, and unlike almost every other controller ever made, it was connected at the BOTTOM of the controller, so in function, it was even shorter. You practically had to sit with your face plastered against the screen to hold that thing naturally and not risk pulling it out of the system (or risk pulling the system out from wherever you had it set up).
i tried the joy cons on a switch demo and it made me fall in love with my xbox controller who had buttons that were designed for adult hands not little kid hands
Well nintendo is basically aimed at small children. Your never see much real AAA games released on it. They have another Mario or Zelda game around the corner. Who needs new IP when they can milk then until they dry up.
For the Wii u game pad I like the controller, not once did it make my hands ache and it’s comfortable in your hands. Also wii controller was a good controller damn it.
I gotta say I did enjoy the Wiimote - yet I also enjoyed using my GC controller on my Wii - and I think it was the perfect controller for one of my favorite games of that time: Metroid Prime

Wow, I honestly did not see that last one coming...The Dreamcast's controller, while not perfect by any means, certainly isn't nearly as bad he makes it out to be! My biggest gripe with it, and something that really held it back, was the fact it only had one analogue stick making playing modern (for the time) full 3d games a bit more of a struggle than it should've been. But other than that obvious flaw and the kind of weird placement of the cable connecting to the bottom of the controller due to the fact they need the space for their Rumble packs/VMU/memory card slots (Although it did have "fix" for it in a little nub to push your cord into to get it out of the way. Which sorta worked.) It was pretty dang awesome controller, and hands-down IMO one of the most comfortable controllers I've played with. Then again, I must admit I might be a tiny bit biased because I absolutely love the Dreamcast and it holds a very special place in my heart! Also speaking of their quality, I still have my original controllers that still work perfectly to his day, So while it may feel "cheap' or "shoddy" to some, I personally never had any real issues with them.
The power glove wasn't made by NIntendo. How does the Playstation's D-pad not make a list like this? It was almost like it was designed to create blisters. Hell, when Sony NZ started getting too many complaints about the damage it was doing to people's hands their response was a line of print ads showing someone's hands covered in plasters, with the tag line "Sony wants you to suffer like this"... implying that it was 'hardcore' for a controller to cause you damage
Who remembers the Regular Show episode about the glove?😂

Then again, I must admit I might be a tiny bit biased because I absolutely love the Dreamcast and it holds a very special place in my heart!
Also speaking of their quality, I still have my original controllers that still work perfectly to his day, So while it may feel "cheap' or "shoddy" to some, I personally never had any real issues with them.

How does the Playstation's D-pad not make a list like this? It was almost like it was designed to create blisters. Hell, when Sony NZ started getting too many complaints about the damage it was doing to people's hands their response was a line of print ads showing someone's hands covered in plasters, with the tag line "Sony wants you to suffer like this"... implying that it was 'hardcore' for a controller to cause you damage
the rock n roller. who remembers that gem.
SNES Super Scope, I loved the thing but it wasn't very practical for my tiny bedroom and tiny 12 inch TV
