lol. I glad someone picked up on it. At the time it wasn't so funny. But now I look back on it hysterical! You have be able to laugh at your mistakes, or it will be a long hard life, LOL! Thanks for watching!
that came out really good! Quick tip if you come across any junk flat screen tvs there’s plexiglass and styrene sheets behind the lcd panel that usable for modeling
Thigs turned out really nice! I did a similar project years ago and I used duct tape for the dam. I wish I had space on my layout for a little stream. Water adds a lot to any scene. Well done.
Never had any luck with tape as a dam, I use styreen 040 with caulk and do it the day before the pour. I also tent the pour with Aluminum foil to keep dust out of the new pour. never had a bubble issue to deal with but I do let the resin sit after mixed with a lid for 5 mins. them pour. I have 3 water features on the layout two rivers and a water fall. You are spot on about mod-podge with ripples. You never said which resin you used, I so far have only used WS deep pour with great results. Thanks for sharing.
I was just watching Boomer Diorama the other day and he recommends not using the two-part epoxy method for water features, but rather matte medium and creating the ripples on top using a product called GAC 500. It’s all done with a paintbrush and there is no worry about bubbles, wicking, etc. His results are amazing. It’s the method I plan on trying when I finally get around to adding a water feature to my layout. Might be worth checking out. Cheers!
Nice video!! I'm not planning a spill way ... rather I have an old Pola #619 dam kit to experiment with. Because of your success, I'll use your techniques when I get to it.
Oh Ciba Geigy......ugh. So things have changed in the Desmond house hold, consequently I'm down to one day of modeling a week because of scheduling. I got totally involved in the shop series and produced 12 videos for the next year, which took every bit of 2 months. But starting tomorrow I am back to it, I REALLY want the scene done soon! Thanks for following along.
failed enough times at it starting out, I've had some success just going with just the gloss mod podge in a couple thin layers. Obviously it takes a lot longer to do though.
I’m in the painting business and that 3m green tape is not a good tape over all. I used it because they claim it guards from edge drips but that’s not true a better tape is frog tape I do recommend that tape its 10x better
It looks great but 😂🤣😂 I couldn't help laughing when you started to explain your mad frantic scramble to save your pour and your floor.

We used a hot glue gun to build up a dam its hard to get the best seal and it peels right off when done. Great work Joe
Thank you for watching!
Nice job Joe. Glad you were able to stop the collapse of the dam. How are things at Ciba Geigy?
