thanks for an very interesting video. and a good tip for replacing the trucks on concors 86 foot high cube boxcars. I also have some that all need reworking.

Nice looking cars. I chose MicroTrains for reliability over other manufacturer's looks any day. The 'clean' weathering looks nice, too.

    Awesome Bid Joe!!
Auto parts cars came out great, even though the first part made me cry😒.
I will check out the Con-Cor and the CMR decals👍😊

@15:29, the first auto parts car has weathering on the side but not the front end... thought grime would be on the end too. Steady have with paint brush!

Hay Joe I use Scalecoat 2 wash away paint remover # s56 works awesome and very fast and doesn't hurt the plastic and doesn't stink also I got a ton of the concor auto racks and 86 foot box cars they are great for the time they came out before everyone started doing N Scale

I used the CMRs myself for a 3D Printed one I did. I liked the overall quality but, jeez they were thick. Lots of Microsol to keep the Can opener down.

    Looks good.
I have run into the problem with longer cars as everything must navigate the 11" radius [24" wide bench work] return loop at the end of my staging yard.
In a way I'm forced into cars in the 60' range or less. I do think that auto racks will make the return loop but the big TOFC flat cars will not. But for operations id does have a reason to have a slow restricted area on the layout.
Con Cor still makes a good budget car, I have over 25 Con Cor auto racks [See above note] and when set out with some of the other brands they do not stand out as wrong in a long train.

Nice painting tutorial. Just a thought on different found colors in your Conrail book. Colors may vary due to original photographs colors vs. off set printing? Does CHS have prototype paint chips to compair? The cars look great when they roll by.

Thanks Mike. I believe that they have the paint codes/formula, I just never asked. That is probably something I will do in future projects. I loved doing the Santa Fe patch jobs, a lot of fun doing the research! Thanks for watching!

Joe, excellent job on both the video and the cars! I have some of those XAPs (mostly Bluford Shops but also a Con-cor, and I agree with you on the quality of even the Con-cor model), but haven't put them on my layout yet. What's the minimum radius you feel comfortable running them around? On you helix? Thanks much!

They run good on the 14" radius on the big helix no problem. On the small helix which is 13" radius with a 2% grade only going down, going up is problematic! Thanks for watching!

Great information the cars look great, question where did you get the loop to check out the decals. Also have you ever tried using a black marker on the back side of the decal sheet, on white decals so you can see them better? Will try the color combos for the cars, Thanks!

Never tried the black marker trick, I will give it a shot. I can not remember where I picked up the loop from. Thanks for watching.
