was here some days ago, but feel that it was too short time to feel all :) thanks for the video. Nice vibe... Exactly what it is - what I felt there :)
I visited Pere Lachaise cemetary myself back in 2007 and it was one of the most enchanting and magical and beautiful experiences of my entire life,I really, really appreciate you making and uploading this video, thanks very much, and I urge anybody to visit this place at least once in their lifetime.
Than you for the well-done video. I have visited Pere Lachaise two times. The cemetery is remarkable for many reasons ... not just for the tombs of famous persons interred there, but also for the art manifest in the many tombs, memorials, and the columbarium.
I feel fortunate to have been to Pere Lachaise two wonderful times. It is very difficult to find your way around and I was miserably lost both times. I love the place as I love the city.
Thank you so much! My husband and I visited in 2018 and now that we are isolated due to COVID, this was a wonderful way to re-experience a wonderful memory. Instantly transported from Canada to France. I appreciated your minimal approach to the video as it allowed me my own experience. Bravo and Thank you again!
Thank you for taking the time to make and post this tour, since I and many other folks will never be able to visit this uniquely beautiful landmark in person. It's amazing to see the different designs and architecture over the decades in such a thoughtfully laid out location.
This video is so beautiful...The cemetery is breathtaking, the statues are so majestic and ornate!!! I have never seen such a beautiful cemetery. I know in my lifetime I will never get to visit Paris, so this tour was like a dream for me. I would love to go just to visit Jim Morrison's grave. Thank you for the beautiful tour...
You know how noisy and vibrant Paris is...and sometimes it could be a bit much..and then I discovered Pierre Lachaise..I really enjoyed the stroll ..it was peaceful, lovely settings amongst those that were gone. I needed being here to appreciate the vibrancy that is pure PARIS!
I totaly agree !! Few years ago I lived near Père Lachaise and it was one of my favorite places to hang out ! Beautiful, peaceful, mysterious (it's easy to meet some enthusiast who told you the history of all the residents) and like a museum cause many of graves are very elaborated. Don't forget that it is also a very woody area in the town !
Wonderful video! My daughter and I were all over here on October 9th. There was a very atmospheric gray drizzle and it began to pour the moment she put our rose plant on Morrison's grave (I had told her, "I hope it rains the day we visit Morrison's grave at Pere Lachaise" - and it did right at THAT moment. We were singing "People are Strange" after that! I love your "Undead" ... those crows cawing brought back a lot of memories of Pere Lachaise and Montmartre cemetaries - I have a Bombay cat just like the one shown in your video. I gathered several dozen chestnuts at both cemeteries and keep them in a bowl under a painting of a Montmartre cafe in my dining room. I am American but half French and a complete Francophile. What a beautiful place Pere Lachaise is, I asked a guard if an American could be buried there and he said as long as I live/die within Paris city limits! Guess when I start to croak, I need to book a ticket asap! :-)
That place is so hauntingly beautiful. Morrison visited Pere Lachaise a short time before his death and told his friend that he wanted to be buried there. I was shocked though that no monument of Morrison as poet, which is how he wished to be immortalized, is erected in his memory. Why didn't Elektra and/or the remaining Doors do that as he made millions for them...he was certainly the main draw. I find his grave very sad and neglected. He was a very gifted poet and iconic artist. Will definitely visit Pere Lachaise again next time I'm in Paris.

Your videos are always a joy and are the next-best thing to being in Paris! The sounds of the birds, traffic and people make me feel if I close my eyes - I am there! I love all of your videos and this one is particularly lovely. Pere Lachaise is simply a beautiful place - not sad or morbid at all, but lovely and peaceful. I always enjoy walking thru it and am looking forward to doing so in a couple of months! Merci beaucoup!
Thank you for bringing back my memories of this remarkably beautiful and haunting place. I was there in the spring of 1981 when I was 15. Seeing these images made me remember the way it smelled, like mildew and decay.
I was at Pere lachaise only 3 days ago and Oscar Wilde's tomb was more graffitied than Jim Morrisons with kisses and not only with the glass casing but also railings to. Such a peaceful and amazing place to visit!! I can't wait to go back!! Great video!!!
Thank you. I don't like to intrude myself in my videos. People watch them to see places, not to listen to me talk. I do include captions that viewers can optionally turn on if they want more information on the place being shown.
Thank you so much for video. Im still hoping to see it in person one day as I've heard about it so many times but so glad you took a time and trouble to share!
put it on your bucket list molly you’ll meet loads of fellow Americans at Jim,s grave when life goes back to normal Trans-Atlantic air tickets are going to be super cheap
Thanks! It's a really pretty cemetery. You wouldn't think that a cemetery would be so artistically interesting and pleasant to walk around, but this one is!
This beautiful cemetery reminds me of the Highgate cemetery in England. Victorian and over the top. These people had money to be buried in such style. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing place!
+licksnkicks I was near this cemetery but haven't the back for such a long long walk...but when I lived in England 3 yrs, I went to Highgate a few times but didn't walk everywhere...but it was a great place.
What an amazing and beautiful video! Thanks so much for sharing. The cemetery seems to have a very peaceful atmosphere. What an incredible place to explore.
Thanks for these videos. I have been to Paris many times but realize it is a city of many places and spaces to be discovered, many not on tourist time. I appreciate your attention to many details I have missed even in the places I have been in the city.
Monsieur Manic, I really enjoyed this video, and I often check back to see if there are new additions. Perhaps you might post something about how you came to live in Paris. I'm sure many of your viewers would enjoy that. Your captions "sound" like you're an American, and you probably have an interesting story about how you are blessed with living in La Ville de Lumiere.
This cemetery is very beautiful, unique, and clean. The architecture of statue, monselium and tomb very unique. It look like the museum of art from all Europe. I love renaissance art, so this is very incredible place to me . Hopefully 1 day I can come here and enjoy the environment and atmosphere of this cemetery.
Beautifully shot video. Very 'tranquilizing' in the best sense of the term. But what, no Chopin? I dearly hope to visit this place some day. Also the Passy (?) cemetery where Debussy and Faure are buried. thanks for the video trip.
Thank you. The sculptures are truly beautiful & works of art probably unparalleled today. It would have been REALLY special had you mentioned the names of the famous who's burial places were shown, as well as what the monuments commemorated or whom they honored..

Yes, I walked around it some years ago, so, so quiet, just a little amount of birds song, and yet outside of its walls, the noise of vibrant Paris is a orchestra of sound, but inside, so quiet.
Very peaceful except for the loud cawing of the ravens swooping overhead. We also got stared down by a couple of the feral cats that reside there. One was sunning itself in an empty flower planter! :-)
I just saw the video and it looks like a great place to visit and I like the statues and the monuments of the famous people who are buried there. It's a big place. I don't know the language but some of the names are in English and I've heard of them. Whoever filmed the video did it on a nice day
It's huge and it's easy to spend the better part of a day there. Peaceful and interesting. Hilly with cobblestones so it can be hard on the feet after a few hours. I shot this video myself; it was a very typical day in Paris, with the standard light overcast that is so common in the city.
@@Mxsmanic thanks for the message. I have a friend who's French and is married to an American woman, his brother and family live in France but I forgot where. He brought the family to my dad's restaurant and he had to translate the order to our waitress so she could write it down
I loved your video. Last summer during my trip to Paris I visited Montparnasse cemetery. Do you happen to have a video of it? I took some pictures, but would love to look at a video, so well done lik this one, to explain certain things to my friends. Thanks!
This is one of the few (the only?) places in Paris where I got a blister from walking. The cobblestones are very uneven and your feet are constantly sliding around. If your shoes and socks slide around as well, you can get blisters from the friction. The only other place I've been that has cobblestones this bad is Versailles. I got a blister at Pere Lachaise because I was wearing cheap socks that were a bit too slippery inside the shoe.
Thank you for sharing this video. I was in Paris last week for 3 days but did not manage to go to the cemetery which I really wanted to. There was too many things to see and very little time. my body still hurts from the walking 😁. wear good shoes while in Paris and comfortable clothes if you plan to sight see by foot.

First time to see your video, such beautiful cemeteries. So peaceful and full of wonderful headstones.
Another awesome video! Thank you so much for posting them. I anxiously await the next one.
This is excellent. I felt like I was there, Thank you.
thank you. well done, with the piano music ... and especially the birds singing in the background..
Such a beautiful and peaceful place. I'd love to see it.
Thank you . Almost as good as a personal visit with the birds singing too.
Each time I visit Paris I make time to go here, a few hours of peace and quiet reflection does me so much good during an always fairly hectic stay.
A nice tour without the hurried pace and chattering of newer ones, so for me, it is by far still the best video of Père Lachaise.
Thank you. I don't like to intrude myself in my videos. People watch them to see places, not to listen to me talk. I do include captions that viewers can optionally turn on if they want more information on the place being shown.

Is this the cemetery with the famous Mausoleum where you will get one million francs if you stay in it for a whole year?
I'm not aware of any such arrangement.
