That probably means he just plugged in the USB while it was still an air freshener, and then just showed footage of his computer shutting off (because he pulled the plug). The click was probably just edited in, or him making a clicking sound in the background.

The reason I think this does not work is that the high voltage is between the negative terminal of the USB port and one of the data pins. But in a real USB killer, the high voltage is between the two data lines. You can try connecting the negative terminal to one of the data lines and the high voltage wire to the other data line.
