You do have to poke around in the voice lines bank, at least early on. (Although some of the lines are interesting, and they're among the earliest indicators the siblings actually don't think alike.) In retrospect, kind of glad I ended up a Lumine main because spending more time with her made for an easier transition into the more active role the protagonist starts taking later on once they're finally acclimated and start understanding parts of how this world works.

As a Genshin player from the start, here's my advice.
1)Only play if you're not going to get sucked in the gacha. It's not worth it. I don't understand it but I keep hearing about people who spend hundreds or thousands on it, and while I'm thankful for the free content, that's honestly kind of crazy. If you wanna spend money, 5 a month for the daily gems is more than enough to get the characters you want. That's 1/3 of what WoW asks.
2)You don't need to minmax or BiS since there's no PvP or hard content. This means that even if your favorite character ends up being one of the common weak units in the tierlist, you can do the majority of the content with them.
3)There's three+ years of content, take your time and do all of it and you'll get enough rolls to save up and get as many characters as you want, so literally just pick the characters you want from future leaks and save up to get them and you're set. See it as a long time thing and not as something to do all at once.
4)Don't ever use your gems for more energy. Just wait until tommorow, the game is not going anywhere and the rewards might not even be worth it. Honestly don't obsess over energy even if it caps, the game is not going anywhere, you can quit it and come back.
    5)C6 Bennet. Do it, coward.

I agree with most of your points, but I do have dispute with point 1. I'd say it's irrelevant. That gacha system is at least honest and fair imo, so if you wanna play for the sake of gacha, just go on. If people were to argue, "you're literally paying for pixels"; no, not really. You're paying for an experience. The characters are adorable voiced by 4 different VAs in different languages. Other than that, if you aren't going to spend a dime, you're in for a slightly/moderately higher time investment. Money and time are usually inversely proportional to each other meaning if you spend more money, you usually will spend lesser time.
The game is playable for both F2P and spender. Most 1.0 or earlier player will say you shouldn't spend because you will eventually have 80%. That's because in the old days, we only have 2 instead of 4 (6 in the future) banners per patch. We had ample time to save up for new characters. Hence, new players really are susceptible to FOMO and it's alright to spend.
It's your money so do what you want, but I do agree with the latter. The Blessings of the Welkin Moon (a monthly pass that gives additional gems daily) is enough and actually more economic than directly buying genesis crystals. Unless, you're trying to min-max every single character (C6R5)~

    • @martinmcfly5405
      @martinmcfly5405 3 місяці тому +1

You even dont need to gacha where as in other games you need the new gacha chars to progress.
In GI using non gacha chars is sometimes even more gratifying as the game gets somewhat more challenging.
Especially the high tier 5stars of sumeru and fontaine make the game partly hilarious easy.
      Alhaitham-Kuki
      Zhongli-Neuvi
      Furina-Jean....
So going back to kaeya-xiangling-traveller-Barbara shows you really dont need any 5-stars.
Still i have welking moon since 18 month. Not giving something is unbalanced.

@@oHarlequinn I mean like don't get sucked in to the point where you spend more money than you're willing to. I roll too, but if I don't get the character then that's meh, I'll get them next time. But there's people who are vulnerable to gacha and will keep spending and if they know they're going to fall victim to this then they should just avoid it altogether.

I started my journey with Genshin in 1.0, started playing it because so many Zelda content creators played it at launch and to me a game like Zelda on pc was amazing since Nintendo prices here are abysmal.
After few days it didnt feel much like Zelda to me anymore. I played f2p for 3 months and cleared all content the game offered at the time and I bought a gem pack not for a character but for the devs since I felt good giving back to them for an awesome game (I did the same in Warframe for example). The anime look was never for me, and yet this one charmed me. The world that felt alive, and its lore are awesome. It's like if single player Elder Scrolls got a new game every year. The music and great looking places also made the game feel better. Exploring Dragonspine back in 1.2 was so good, I felt nostalgic to the time I first played Skyrim. I really fell for the world and some characters I found enjoyable, never regretted anything I bought and never felt pressured to buy stuff either. The combat is simple yet has so many fun internal things I enjoy learning about. The elemental system is amazing. I love how the elements are everywhere in the land, people and gameplay. I never felt burnout even if I play every day and since the game allows me to do my dailies in 15 minutes when I eat breakfast I can freely enjoy other games without feeling like I'm falling behind, that's what makes me dislike MMO's.
Genshin managed to climb into my list of favorite games of all time, and I will play it for the foreseeable future especially with now that the game matured and the developers after 3 years started to perfect what exploration feels good and how they write their stories as latter regions are like night and day in those terms. No endgame doesnt bother me as I play for other things and the devs did say multiple times their core audience has no interest in it so I see it as purely casual experience.

Paimon is the 9th spirit of Ars Goetia and the 22nd spirit of Pseudomonarchia Daemonum and in Dictionnaire Infernal he is first listed as the sixth spirit and then later as the third King.
By lore it was stated; if King Paimon appears alone, a sacrifice must be made to summon Lebal (sometimes refered to as Bebal) whom is together with Paimon one of Lucifers most trusted / devout followers.
Powers of King Paimon are as following: teacher of science and answering questions truthfully, knowledge of all arts and "secret things", (such as knowledge regarding the earth, it's water and the winds). Paimon is also said to be able to reveal hidden treasures and have an understanding of all the affairs of the world.

I played Genshin during its release. Found it boring for the most part but I was addicted on getting new characters. Re-installed it, decided to put up with the most generic story to gain rewards and in-game currencies. Liyue, (2nd area) caught me by surprise. Soundtrack, exploration and even the story tops everything so far. I never thought I would experience a slow-burn kind of storytelling that is well set up and with an amazing finale - in a gacha game. TBH it made Avengers Endgame (both were released same year in my country) look like an expensive piece of garbage.
But be warned, Genshin is not without toxicity. For example: the Spiral abyss, a place to test team comps and your teams damage output. The enemies deals 3x damage and have 10x their usual health. Sounds fun and challenging, but in reality, it's a timed trial that takes unfairness to another level - unless you're a whale. Artifact grinding can take up to several weeks - even months. Toxic community etc.
Overall Genshin is a good game that ppl should try. It's a well-polished AAA game and it's for free with good story. My only advice to newbies is to take things slowly despite the huge amount of content. Overworld is nerfed for casuals but the hardcore aspect (Spiral Abyss) is there for vets.

I don't feel the need to have every character nowadays and the only time I actually submitted to FOMO was during Hu-Taos debut banner whereas I just go for characters I genuinely like the design of nowadays. Most of my game time is actually spent on my wishless account now, having to many characters makes the game feel like a chore. I have played this game and now have maxed a lot of thing including the adventure rank and spent only like 30$ on the game when I first started to catch up with a lot of things. I'd say it's a reasonable amount since it's a free game. My biggest problem isn't spending money since I have self control but the time I have spent. For 2 to almost 3 years I have been playing it everyday and mostly for hours. It was so addicting especially since I don't really have anything to do (still a student) But thinking back, I could've use the time to hang out with my friends, going outside, learn new skills. Like, I'm not even joking for the 'touch grass' meme. The game brought me joy but sometimes I wish I didn't start it lol. I'm still playing it but currently limiting myself since login everyday has feel like a chore (and there are still a lot of contents I haven't do even tho I played everyday) Now I'm trying to limit myself to an hour a day and hopefully once a week. I don't think I'll be spending more money on the game because even tho I do want to have the characters, at the end of the day, they're just pixels and not worth it

OMG, your luck was exactly as bad as mine was! Chongyun to start with and Qiqi for first 5\*! It does get better though. I would strongly disagree with you that the game's content is not dense. It actually has much more density than most open world games. I think think that the first area is the least dense though, and also I think some hidden chests only appear after raising your AR, so they wouldn't be there on your first pass (a mistake from early development). The amount of free gacha currency is legitimately fair though, combined with the pity system that guarantees that you will get the character you want eventually, a F2P should have no trouble getting a solid roster of characters that they want over time, it only requires patience, because you won't be able to afford all that right away. Now's a pretty great time to start though, their Chinese New Year celebration is still happening with some significant bonus loot, and both characters on the banner are massive QoL upgrades for any account, plus good 4*s, so it's an easy one to roll on.

Genshin Impact is basically a JRPG - you play as a predefined character in a story. Sure, you get to choose their gender, and they're written to be easy to get into, but the Traveller sure is not the player, they are their own person.

On an unrelated note, it seems that Mihoyo made a conscious decision to not have any constume variations for Traveller. You can't even wear the mask or the crown of flowers after you use them in quests, although they are clearly implemented.

7:30 I'd say it sounds more like Tubular Bells, personally. But yeah, even with all the BOTW influence, Genshin really is better than it has any right to be. I played it for *months* before finally running out of content. And I never paid a dime! If you can stave off FOMO, nearly all of the game is fully playable without paying. Only the Spiral Abyss really needs minmaxed characters, and it's wholly optional.
(Also, I genuinely love the game's World Level system, which may be the smartest way I've ever seen an open-world RPG handle the problem of incrementing difficulty as the player gains levels/strength. I'd like to see other games borrow from the concept.)

As someone who has played the game since the month of it's launch I'd say you gave a pretty fair assessment. The game does have it's issues but if you aren't inclined towards impulse spending it is something I'd recommend.
Combat mechanics; great (simple on the surface but surprising depth to the core systems)
Writing; a very mixed bag but generally better as the game progresses
World building/background lore; like combining a Fromsoft game with an Elder Scrolls game (there is a massive amount and it is solid while leaving room for mystery)
    Graphics; average
    Art direction; well above average
Music; far to good for a video game OST
Monetization; Honestly bad (expensive gambling). That said the game is balanced around the F2P player base and there is no need to spend a dime.
For anyone starting the game the things I'd warn of is one, don't spend money you don't have to waste. Two, the 'rarity' of characters and weapons is not always an indicator of strength or usefulness.

  • @BNuts

Ah yes, the old days when lightning strikes hitting you were difficult. And then we went to Inazuma.
Hm, Lisa who calls us 'cuties' and herself 'Onee-san,' or Kafka who is basically our mother? Both of them have dialogue that are soaked in innuendo, and both use Lightning. Kafka having mind control powers that she uses without any hesitation makes me distrust her, so it's fortunate I have an Aponia in my pocket to counter her with.
The most important thing to remember about _Genshin_ is that it is designed to be a super-casual player experience. There's no point at all in trying to get the best characters and the best gear, because RNG is everywhere. It's much more enjoyable to coast through the story and explore the world as well, because once you complete all of the quests, you then have to wait for the next content update to progress. Spiral Abyss is either super-easy or super-hard, depending on whether you've spent your life savings to C6 your 5-stars. There's no in-between. Not that I've done Spiral Abyss in months, I just don't see a point.
Mihoyo's first two games were not gachas.
_Fly Me 2 The Moon_ was a side-on puzzle game where you flew Kiana around a map, so pretty typical of a mobile game.
_ZombieGal Kawaii_ was their first attempt at a side-scrolling actioner, but it ultimately failed. So they remade it as _GunGirlZ_ , and this time included a gacha. _GGZ_ is still open on the CN and JP servers.
_Honkai Impact 3rd_ is Mihoyo's first foray into 3D-land, and uses many of the same characters as _GGZ_ . It is one of Mihoyo's favourites, with Part 1.5 in the story closing up now, and Part 2 starting on February 29th. Story, characterization, and character design are some of this game's strengths, however the flashy combat, especially with more recent battlesuits, also stands out. _HI3_ takes heavy inspiration from anime and games like _Evangelion_ , _Devil May Cry_ , and _Bayonetta_ as well. Most people pass on it because it doesn't have an English dub, so if Mihoyo wanted more people to play it, they would do an EN dub, I'm sure.
_Genshin_ was Mihoyo's first real break-out hit, both due to having multiple language dubs, and because it was launched cross-platform, the release they wanted for _HI3_ , but didn't have the resources to do. While _HI3_ has modes that are called 'open world,' they're not truly that. This game, however, contains a truly expansive world to explore and enjoy.
_Tears of Themis_ is Mihoyo's often-overlooked visual novel-styled police procedural game, with lots if bishounen. I have never seen an ad for it, but I do know it exists.
_Honkai: Star Rail_ is a closed-world RPG with turn-based combat, so choosing the right team members plays a more key role than it did in _Genshin_ or _HI3_ . Like _Genshin_ , it has different regions to explore, but where you explore is more restricted, a lot more like _HI3_ 's open world zones, except for APHO where you _can_ jump. And if you've heard of how this game is treated differently from _Genshin_ and wonder why, it's because the Honkai Team handles it, under a different producer. That's all it is.
_Zenless Zone Zero_ is the stylish roguelike upcoming entry, which takes its combat cues from _HI3_ . It has had two CBTs so far, and is slated to release sometime this year. The characters include a big bear who swings around a pillar, a penny-pinching gal, a shark maid, and Billy Kid.

It's both nostalgic and a little disheartening how unchanged the new player experience still is. This video could have come out when 1.0 launched. The game has grown a lot since then, but the only changes that a new player notices are even more overwhelming systems they don't need to use yet. Makes me hope that some day they go back through existing content to polish and improve it, but until then it's fun seeing new people going through the same first steps years later.

They improved a lot for new players, like the recent teleport in new areas to them enjoy newer content.
But in my opinion they make the pace of the new systems very well. They unlock each stuff little by little, while you advance in the game. Mondstadt is a great experience for beginners.
The only early-yet-irrelevant in the beginning is the artifacts. 1-2 star artifacts shouldn't have levels. It's pointless to spend anything on them.
Maybe that could be done to 1-2 star weapons as well, but I think it can be too much.

The systems are paced out by being main-story locked, so the same progression of systems as a day-one player, which is exactly what my comment was about. New players being paced into everything is nostalgic but means the game's first impression has not gone up any over the years. Honestly of all the gacha games ive played. Genshin impact is pretty fair on units. C0 5 stars can do you work as getting the unit is the real challenge for most.
The 4 stars can be pretty broken like bennet who is basically the king of accounts
The real sink is the artifact system where you must farm so much to get a "perfect" drop but even then you got another rng moment of wanting the right sub stats to get boosted as well. That's the real gacha within a gacha within a gacha that makes you use a lot of time.
Story and adventure wise. I wish we could skip or fast forward story. They know we can with the op every reset being able to get skipped same as animation from the trees. Even as a veteran it takes forever to even do dailys when they force you to click. That or make the story shorter and better. Nahida had a great story and actually helped us out.
I'll give credit to how they do the side characters. Most games or stories i see make them fall off to the wayside but here yoimiya gets a ton of development same as ayaka as i felt the archons would be seen as rhe mains for example. Not sure why they are inflating their revenue streams with money from themselves but the games in more of a worse state then people seem to realise. it appears more have quit or more are boycotting the game then people expected.
The game is starting to teeter into operating at a loss territory. And it makes sense considering they have been using the same predatory tactics for this "free" game since its launch. Trying to make the most expensive game a "free" game is fortunately ending up to be a bad idea.

Why is there 4 different Lantern Rite events anyway. Why are they making a new story for it every year. What if you missed the first 3 year lantern rites? Does it start from the first one in your game? Nope the newest. Doesn't make any sense. They putting in story and dev time to design something they don't need to all the while having the same terrible wish system that they have had since launch only worse as now four stars are rarer then five stars for some dumb reason.
Its like you are not allowed to quit, or not allowed to be a new player. Yet at the same time as a new player the game throws so much as you now you just breeze through the entire game with no trouble. I know this cause I played at launch and quit during Childe's banner and now come back on a new account.
Its still fun, even if many many things are dated and the glider is a lot slower then I remember, you just have to play it in a way where you ignore the gacha system entirely and never spend a cent.

LOL Nice lightning strike. It's always funny when you get smacked right out of the cutscenes. I once had a boar bulldoze me right out of my face to face conversation. It became a scene of Xiangling having a long discussion about meat products with the empty air
Good beginning overview. It's an excellent game if you are not susceptible to spending over your budget. If you're at all likely to get yourself in trouble with impulse purchases, I'd avoid it (and all microtransaction-funded games). But if you've got a firm hold on your impulse purchase habits, Genshin is a _very good_ game that you can absolutely play for free with what it gives you, without missing any content at all.

Honestly, I feel there's an ok balance of F2P options for this game to feel like you're always making some sort of progress. And if you feel like you need a boost and are going to be playing it frequently, then the 5 dollar a month option to get 90 gems a day just to log is quite nice.

5 seconds into getting Baizhu he got smote right out of a cutscene on the way to test his pigeon slaying abilities q.q
Serious note though, I had a dolphin account and a free account. My free account could doas big of damage numbers as my pay account but there wasn't anything my team of 4stars couldn't handle.

I am adventure rank 57 in Genshin Impact. To be fair to the game, if you can resist spending you can actually still get a whole lot of characters, especially now that the game has been out for several years and there are so many zones to explore and quests to do. That being said, just like any gacha game it will try to make you spend and if you want to unlock all the constellations (bonuses a character gets for being won more than once) for a level 5 character it gets very expensive very fast. That being said: Most characters don't really need those bonuses to work well.
I am not that familiar with other gacha games but overall I think Genshin is a very enjoyable game.
