The first time I heard this song I was hooked on this band. I've seen them dozens of times since. Listened to all of their albums front to back, hundreds of times. But something always keeps me coming back to this song.
I live about twenty minutes from the town that these guys are talking about in this song and it amazes me how well they basically sum up the enitre town and the people in it in 4 minute song. Simply incredible.
I have this big interview tomorrow, been listening to that song thinking about youth and growing up. After sharing my thoughts with those guys for more than 10 years I could be nothing but thankful for their work and also calming my nerves down about the whole situation.
i live in Milwaukee and it gets cold and dark during the winter and very depressive. As a kid growing up in Milwaukee and walking home in the snow and with my mom and dad having issues and bullies these just fits omg.
Better late than never. Give their older stuff a listen to (don't forget the ep Manton st. And definitely don't forget their first album get stoked on it, the wonder years themselves will pretend the album never existed but we all know it did)
Something keeps me coming back to this track. Is is the lyrics that hit hard and deep? Maybe. Could it be the instrumentation? Perhaps. Honestly, it's the feeling this song gives off. No matter where I am, or who I'm with, this reminds me of home.
I'm from a tight knit suburb in northern Los Angeles. So many Wonder Years songs remind me of home, where I came from, and who I am because of that. It's been great to, what I call, grow up with the Wonder Years. There have been times when I've hated home and wanted to escape, and now that I have I've learned how much home had to offer. This album gives me the chills every time through. This song and summers in PA make me proud of the place I call home.
I'm really feeling this. I'll be graduating high school soon and I keep telling my parents I want to live in California, on the other side of America far far away from family. I do want to leave this state! But then again I don't know any other place like the one I live in. This state has people and places I know. Still want to leave though! Eh, I'll figure it out when I'm older.
+Digital Screams i feel this. i live in california and i want to move somewhere different because ive lived here my whole life lol. if you love diversity, honestly, i recommend moving here :)
It smells like it should be snowing And I've been frequenting a diner on Main Street Where the waitresses are girls that graduated with me Have problems with oxy and can't recall what I had to drink No one knows where they're going They just know they want out of here badly Like cigarettes dropped on a highway They smash and scatter and and burn out Somewhere else without knowing I've got my grandmother's veins in the back of my hands And just a hint of a South Philly accent I was born here (I'll probably die here) Let's go home This town's got lies to tell I'll wait around to hear you out But I can't keep from digging up these bones forever At least for now, I'll settle down I'll try to find some solid ground I lost my footing trying to get home last winter The kids in the graduating class Have got their eyes set west and California on their lips But I left some blood there that I'm never getting back Rocky's in the Deep South, I don't think he's coming back now It's sinister,, but it's how life worked out I've got my grandmother's veins in the back of my hands And just a hint of a South Philly accent I was born here (I'll probably die here) Let's go home This town's got lies to tell I'll wait around to hear you out But I can't keep from digging up these bones forever At least for now, I'll settle down I'll try to find some solid ground I lost my footing trying to get home last winter Growing up means watching my heroes turn human in front of me The songs we wrote at eighteen seem shortsighted and naive So when the weather breaks, I'll pull my hoodie up over my face I won't run away, run away 'Cause as fucked as this place got, it made me me This town's got lies to tell I'll wait around to hear you out But I can't keep from digging up these bones forever At least for now, I'll settle down I'll try to find some solid ground I lost my footing trying to get home last winter This town's got lies to tell

The Wonder Years have so much soul when they play they use all their emotions on stage and thats one of the reasons why these guys are the best!
The lyrics that The Wonder Years produce are out of this world...
been addicted to this band since my man sang a bunch of their songs to me! god I love them!
The guy I like told me about them. I want to give him a big hug. They are soooo good.
The Wonder Years are absolutely fucking perfect man
This makes me want to wear a hoodie even more.

Growing up means, watching my heroes turn human in front of me.
dear Suburbia, 0 dislikes THAT is giving my all
Im a senior this year, and this song describes everything im feeling right now:p
It smells like it should be snowing
And I've been frequenting a diner on Main Street
Where the waitresses are girls that graduated with me
Have problems with oxy and can't recall what I had to drink
No one knows where they're going
They just know they want out of here badly
Like cigarettes dropped on a highway
They smash and scatter and and burn out
Somewhere else without knowing
I've got my grandmother's veins in the back of my hands
And just a hint of a South Philly accent
I was born here (I'll probably die here)
Let's go home
This town's got lies to tell
I'll wait around to hear you out
But I can't keep from digging up these bones forever
At least for now, I'll settle down
I'll try to find some solid ground
I lost my footing trying to get home last winter
The kids in the graduating class
Have got their eyes set west and California on their lips
But I left some blood there that I'm never getting back
Rocky's in the Deep South, I don't think he's coming back now
It's sinister,, but it's how life worked out
I've got my grandmother's veins in the back of my hands
And just a hint of a South Philly accent
I was born here (I'll probably die here)
Let's go home
This town's got lies to tell
I'll wait around to hear you out
But I can't keep from digging up these bones forever
At least for now, I'll settle down
I'll try to find some solid ground
I lost my footing trying to get home last winter
Growing up means watching my heroes turn human in front of me
The songs we wrote at eighteen seem shortsighted and naive
So when the weather breaks, I'll pull my hoodie up over my face
I won't run away, run away
'Cause as fucked as this place got, it made me me
This town's got lies to tell
I'll wait around to hear you out
But I can't keep from digging up these bones forever
At least for now, I'll settle down
I'll try to find some solid ground
I lost my footing trying to get home last winter
This town's got lies to tell
