    To start with really enjoyed the upload but I have one minor gripe. The title is "how to" catch big dusky flathead, not watch us catch big dusky flathead. Like I said I enjoyed the vid just wish there was more to the how to part. For example what kind of technique are you using when jigging the lure. The cast, the set, the knots used etc etc. Just my opinion though, but as I said I did still enjoy watching you land huge flatties.

      they were telling us how at the start he said how you should put a small lure on to see if there is flathead around and they are biting then put on a big lure and they gave us alot more good ways to catch flatties

      techniques were in part 1, end of part 2 he talks the knots, what leader and part 1 he tells how to cast lol he also mentions the time itll be perfect for them to bite

    In your next videos guys, please don't chop off where you cast and set the hook as this is the most important part for new fisho's. Thanks

    another top show,like your skinning method too..a lot of anglers play down catching dusky flathead because of availability and so on and so on.but a 70/80 and 90 cm flathead on appropriate gear is as good as anything you can get in the water i reckon..great example of explaining methods and techniques as well...cant wait for more shows...

    i would say 3/8" - depends on the stiffness on your rod and how much whip you get ..

    I am not a fisherman and may have gone fishing twice in my life, so i am surprised i am watching a fishing video.Anyway fellas,i have a question if i may.You mention that you keep flathead between 35-55cm.I understand letting the baby fish go,the ones under 35cm,but why would you let the bigger ones go?..I was somehow under the assumption that a fishing rule was that you let a fish grow to a legal size and then can eat anything over that size limit...Cheers

      @mialla75  8 років тому +1

      In Victoria its illegal to keep a Dusky Flathead over 55cm , there are the breeders

    Hey guys I am 14 and live in Victoria and I'm going on a fishing trip with dad to a new spot and we are targeting flathead. I was wondering if bait is worth trying or soft plastics the way to go

    Great video. I have been using a 4000 reel, 4-6 kg rod and 16lb leader and thinking its too heavy, but I'll persist now thanks to this.

    What weight Jigheads do you use with those big plastics in shallower water say 1-1.8m ? all my flatties have come from shallower areas and iv always used say 70mm-80mm paddel tails but after whatching some of your vids im really keen to get into the big girls. Great vid Guys Looking forward to more soon!

    We use 1/4" - in shallow water we use a 1/8"

    Better video definitely than some of your earlier work. However would still like to see a bit more on rod, lure jigging method used. A couple of casts and full retrieves. Thanks - good job.

    Looks like East Gippsland... Mallacoota, Tamboon, Bemm River, Lake tyres etc. There are massive dusky's in those lakes.

    Caught a beautiful 45cm flatty in the Brunswick River yesterday (August 15th, 2014 - Brunswick Heads is 15 minutes drive north of Byron Bay). A bigger lizard mouthed the smaller fish and sat on the bottom, it felt like I had snagged the line. I was in my hobie outback so I peddled upstream only to see a huge lizard with my fish in its mouth. She let it go, only to chase it again before noticing me 2 metres above and fleeing the scene. I estimated the big mumma to be well over a metre. Thought it was a wobbegong shark initially, as up here they see turtles in the rivers too! I'm from Dromana, and I catch my fair share of 30-50cm flatties off Martha Cove over the warmer months, but the size of the Lizards up here are just awe inspiring. Having said that, you guys show that Mallacoota and other places in Victoria also produce big fish too - gotta love that! Love your videos, keep 'em coming! PS, I use a 6 inch steel trace leader too - I know it's black, but it doesn't seem to scare the fish away. I MUST try some bigger lures too, in the hope of getting a bigger lizard - gotta love that! Dave Bryant, Dromana.

    Hi Everyone! I totally agree with letting a flathead go if it's over 55cm's because it allows everyone in the future to catch some. If there was no limit than people would take too many fish and probably go to waste as well. The big ones don't taste as good as the little ones. 35cm to 55cm is a good law. 55cm's is a big fish. It's plenty enough for you to eat. It's all about protecting the environment so everyone can enjoy fishing.

    Question, on part one and two talked about 150mm - 170mm lures. Struggling to find the bigger lures over 100mm-125mm not in BCF or tackle world like the Shad, silver fox, drop bear, black & gold Ect. Where do you buy them from please?
