Although not a Photoshop user really liked this video and sure lots of people would like to see more. I have Lightroom Mobile on subscription and now Im retired wondering about moving to a non subscription product and Affinity Photo 2 is looking like the front runner. Any comments from the great people here welcomed. Chris thanks for all the great content and you’re really appreciated

Or just use Adobe Bridge which I feel is an underappreciated Adobe program.

Thanks. That is very helpful and clear. Typically I would’ve opened the raw file in Lightroom. Do you generally prefer using Photoshop with the Camera Raw filter as opposed to Lightroom as a one stop shop for a simple edits?

Yes, I too am curious. My workflow is Lightroom Classic and, as needed, "virtual copies" of variations of the image. Please let us know why PS vs. LR. Thanks so much.

if you use Bridge and open the RAW file directly into Camera Raw, make your adjustments and either save it from there or open it in Photoshop and do any further work then save as jpeg, TIFF, png and keep the RAW file it will have the sidecar file with it in the same folder that stores the adjustments...this allows you to open the RAW file into Camera RAW from Bridge again at any time later with all the original adjustments still in place and able to be adjusted...RAW files used this way are not able to be destructively edited...the adjustments are always contained in the sidecar file...if you delete the sidecar file you will have the original RAW file as shot with no adjustments

    Good afternoon from Valencia, Spain.
I have recently bought a 2nd hand XT3 and I notice that the last software update that the previous owner made was version 4.1 (?) and my question is down I need to download each new up date individually or is there a way to upload all the missing updates in one hit?
Your videos are very informative and enjoyable.
    Your a diamond.
    Regards
    James

How to do this in Affinity? Adobe are not great guys anymore and shouldn't be encouraged. C1 is miles better for x-trans than lc so we just need help with the editors. Thanks Chris :)

So why not just use Lightroom? For this kind of processing, Lightroom can handle this out of the box

I agree. Non destructive edit which are instantly re-editable. The only extra HDD space consumption is in the tiny tiny addition to the LR catalogue ... PSD and TIFF files are ENORMOUS 4:03 compared to RAW files

Interesting idea but a big NO to Adobe. Not Photoshop. Not Lightroom. Never again Adobe.
And this is sad because I learned on Photoshop over 20 years ago but they have lost my trust and confidence.
So please help us migrate to a safer and more secure platform.

Good tip! I also keep the original RAW file. I wind up with three files -- the original, the psd file and a jpg. Storage just keeps getting cheaper :)

This doesn't appear to be something exclusive to Photoshop, therefore why not just do it in Lightroom and save about 90% of the steps it takes to do it in Photoshop?
