    Sailrite is the best. They provide these educational videos which has made it possible to build my own bimini top, plus their shipping is absolutely amazing - ordered on Saturday afternoon and received materials on Tuesday (this is their standard Fedex shipping). Plus, met with the group at the Annapolis Boat Show and they were one-on-one with me and helped out which was just great. I cant give them enough credit. Thanks!

    This video is excellent, but boy oh boy you folks make it look SO EASY. Honestly watching this explains why it cost so much to have it done for us! Watching it makes me just want someone to do it! haha

      John O'Connor Making enclosure curtains is not a job for the timid, but many of our customers are up to the challenge and have completed excellent looking enclosures and canvas projects. To see customer photos check out the Sailrite Facebook page: facebook.com/sailrite. As you already stated you can pay upwards of thousands to have a canvas shop do it (which may take up to a year or more to schedule and complete the job for you) or you can equip yourself with the tools, materials and instructions from Sailrite and do it yourself, the choice is yours.

    Hi Lee here from Hypatek Marine in uk.The work s involved but you can do it .I have learnt a lot from sailrite , sometimes there is a better way and you are always learning. Their canopy positioning snaps are for me as a boat canvas maker a unique tool system that has saved me hours in manufacture .

    Just finished my side curtains. Followed the video and they are amazing- so proud. I chose O'Sea 30 and in my opinion, just as good as Markalon. Can't wait for my materials shipment so I can get started on the forward curtains

    Hi thank you very much for all the excellent videos. After we finished the bimini, we are now building the side curtains. My question is: why are the facings at the top with the zippers only 1" and not like the other facings 2" wide. Ist there a special reason or is it just looking better?

      @SailriteDIY  2 роки тому

      We are actually working on a California Dodger for a sailboat right now. It will include making side curtains to attach to the bimini, which is how a California Dodger is made. It should be coming in the next few weeks on UA-cam. Be sure you are subscribed.

    Can you use a regular sewing machine for macking them

    • @SailriteDIY
      @SailriteDIY  2 роки тому +1

      If you were sewing cushions and upholstery yes, but enclosure side curtains, no a home sewing machine will typically not do well.

    Do i need a heavy duty sewing machine for this please? I guess I do i only have a basic home machine. Forget that you answered the question except how much these machines are? I only have one boat to do 😕

      I often get customers asking if they can sew Sunbrella Awing or Marine Grade fabric on a home sewing machine. It always depends on the quality and working order of the home sewing machine you own (so it varies greatly from machine to machine). To determine if a home sewing machine can sew Sunbrella Awing or Marine Grade fabric perform this test:
      Cut up a pair of old blue jeans into four layers (not including the jean’s hems). Since a home sewing machine usually can’t handle a thread larger than v-69 use that thread or something comparable and try to sew through the 4 layers of blue jean material. If it sews well and the stitch looks good on the top and bottom side of the assembly then chances are you can use your home sewing machine for small to medium jobs made with Sunbrella Awning or Marine Grade fabric.
      Remember if your home sewing machine can’t perform the test you can get an LS-1 Ultrafeed for a little as $795 and it will do almost any job done with Sunbrella Awing or Marine Grade fabric easily! www.sailrite.com/Sailrite-Ultrafeed-LS-1-BASIC-Walking-Foot-Sewing-Machine

    Please help me find the video on replacing vinyl windows in a marine canvas.
    I thought I saw it years ago and cant find it anymore.
    The one where you leave the old vinyl in while installing the new vinyl, then cut out the old.
    Thanks for any help anyone can offer in pointing me to that video.
