My first starter was a Cutlass Black and I still have a Cutlass Black. It is the first multicrew ship most people own. And usually it is the most flexible ship most people own. It has drop seats and room for verhicles so you can use it as a drop ship. A host for mining vehicles. Just about every job you can think of you can at least attempt in a Black. But it pays for that by being a little fragile. And not as good at some things as other ships. If you want to take freight seriously then a C1 or freelancer is clearly better. But if you want to do a little of everything its really hard to beat a Black.
I agree. CuttyB was my very first ship and im very fond of them. They look great, they have a lot of utility. I think a ship like this means you're a bit more serious about supporting and playing many different aspects of SC.
Cutty is tuned pretty well in MM, actually one of the most agile ship of her size, a lot better than ships like C1 or freelancer. Also I dunno it's a bug or something, losing a main engine is less likely to put it into a death spiral than it used to be, once I even flew at full speed with only the right engine without too much problem. Absolutely love it.
I generally prefer Connie size ships so the small medium size ships I e the freelancer/spirit/Cutlass debate has never really interested me although I may end up having to downsize due to engineering. Which is the sturdiest of the bunch?

I have several ships but their is something about the Cutless that I love. It's a easy ship to fly and it can do anything a solo pilot would want.

Freelancer has the best shields but the upcoming Zeus seems like it would be the most survivable. The C1 is the best to pilot.
I use the Cutlass Red a lot.
