    Automakers need to get a clue - people want physical buttons for HVAC and not have to use the screen to adjust where the airflow goes.

      Yeah, I also didn't like how steering wheel controls aren't even labeled, you have to look at a screen to see what the buttons do.

    After driving my 2024 Nautilus Reserve Hybrid for about 3 hours, all of the issues you had because you prefer old fashioned technology became extremely intuitive. The car is remarkably smooth and the Blue Drive works extremely well and the seats are exceptionally comfortable The car also drew the top safety score from the IIHS. It's fun to drive, gets great gas mileage, has exceptionally good storage for its class and great head and leg room, plus it looks great. I suggest anybody who gets the opportunity to test drive a Nautilus should do so.

      I think the reviewer is too old to embrace technology. He spent lots of time showing the problems with the touchscreen but for 98% of it the camera wasn't even pointing at the screen. No common sense.

    I would like to see someone else do a review. This guy obviously was not giving the Lincoln a fair shot. I bought mine in February of this year and I absolutely love it. It is a jot to drive and you get used to things like the steering wheel is a little different but after the first day I barely noticed
    The climate controls are quirky but you can use voice commands for the adjustments making them hands free. It is a wonderful automobile.

    Interesting - no complaints about the lack of physical buttons for HVAC controls in the recent Tesla Model 3 review. I mean, either the lack of these controls is either a problem or not.
    Or is the issue with the reviewer? The person doing the review of the Tesla was much younger, versus this reviewer. I'm 53 myself, but not afraid of technology (just sometimes annoyed by it if it doesn't work properly).
    Also annoying is review sites that don't hold vehicles to the same standards.

    • @user-wm5ix5de5j
      @user-wm5ix5de5j 2 місяці тому +2

      No kidding! The reviewer is a complainer. So many cars today have the climate controls on the touchscreen and reviews don’t make such a big deal. Besides I don’t touch these items multiple times a day? Set it and forget it.

    Im a young person and I agree with his complaints. I get that tech can be intuitive, but to have to do things 2-3 times when before it only took 1 is annoying. I have a older MKX and actually move my vents around often and use my sterring wheen controls for audio and cruise control. All of these things being buried in screens now make this new Nautilus a dealbreaker. The tech doesnt actually make the car easier to live with than previous versions.

  • @AdamJakowenko
    @AdamJakowenko 2 місяці тому +16

    Who in their right mind pays extra for white paint 😆. But seriously the vent controls being moved into infotainment has got to be one of the absolute worst trends in the industry. I have experienced this in several cars and didnt even realize how often we change vent positions until it was buried in a screen and become distracting and annoying just to make a minor change to one vent. I absolutely refuse to buy any car that doesnt have physical vent controls. It's maddening if you move them a lot, like we do with multiple drivers

    I love technology, and far from being a Luddite. But the lag of some touchscreens buttons frustrates me to no end; at least with mechanical buttons and switches there is usually a more immediate response. And having to go to the climate control display to change the direction of the vents seems like a solution that didn’t have a problem, and perhaps downright dangerous.

    It hasn't been the MKX for a number of years - basically since the mid-cycle refresh of the last generation, when it became the Nautilus.
    Regarding the HVAC, how much of the difficulty is a result of your testers being unfamiliar with the car? Most people will likely get used to their own vehicle fairly quickly. But I do agree that hard buttons are better for commonly used controls.
    And steering wheel shapes are just getting silly. The only useful divergence from the plain circle is the flat bottomed-circle, as it can make getting in and out easier, particularly if you don't have a power adjustment for the steering wheel position.

    • @StevenHusak
      @StevenHusak 2 місяці тому +3

      On this car the flat top of the steering wheel provides a view of the 48 inch screen without the need for a heads up display. It was actually well though out.

    I think its time people start accepting tech and not complain when companies like Lincoln are trying to come up with such beautiful and innovative solutions to keep the functionality through a screen. I am going to buy this car this week and actually cant wait to start using it.

  • @Molishious
    @Molishious 2 місяці тому +4

    Hopefully this business of moving controls to the screen goes away. It’s not too bad for some things if they are large icons on a large screen and you can get something done in one tap. I see controls where you tap the screen and then a menu comes up and then have to select something else. Not good.

    I love mine. 5,000 miles in and it's probably the best cruising car I have ever owned...and this coming from someone who has driven Mercedes and BMWs for nearly 20 years. I love the steering wheel. The comments about the controls on the steering wheel were pretty much nonsensical issues. Your thumbs naturally can hover over the buttons and they are simple to control. Yes, the vent controls were a miss, but it's no big deal relative to the overall fantastic experience of driving this beautiful vehicle. Are there a few functional things I'd change? Sure, but who hasn't had those in every car they have owned? CR really seems to have a bug up their rears when it comes to this car...the panel review video that came out previous was an embarrassment for them. This Nautilus is a great vehicle. Oh, and my 31mpg on my hybrid is an added bonus.

    RESERVE 401B - Deletes video screen dash. Replaces with styled dash with real instruments and controls. Deletes tacked on center screen. Replaces with actual controls in a style binnacle canted towards the driver. ($5,000) -- V6 Package: Replaces Turbo I4 with a normally aspirated DOHC V6 -- $500 --- Chrome package: Replaces all blacked out trim with bright trim and/or two-tone gloss black/polished aluminum trim. --- Color interior package: Deletes black interior with color-keyed interior in burgundy, royal blue, or jade green with contrast stitching. -- Wood package: Deletes black interior trim and replaces with warm walnut (not blacked out or grayed out) or honey chestnut (again not blacked out or grayed out). Now, we have an American Lincoln that pays at least some homage to the past while being new. Lastly: Chinese build delete. Build will now be done in the USA.

    Not a Ford/Lincoln guy at all, but I think this car looks great. Interior is a mixed bag for me. I do think some of the tech is silly, and the aesthetics are good but not great. I like the turbo hybrid powertrain option and the focus on comfort rather than sportiness. Still a huge improvement over the MKX though not something that would sway me from my preference for Volvo, Audi or Lexus.

    Although the climate vents are a shame, most of the car's controls can be done through google assistant by simply saying "hey google" and then asking whatever thing. The reviewer found the review unit's seats to not be very comfortable, but the seats on the reserve III and black label trims are different and much better at the bolstering along with a massage function that works really well. The steering wheel is something you get used to after a while, we've had a 2024 Nautilus Black Label for about two months now and I speak from experience.

    Currently shopping for a vehicle and the Lincoln Nautilus is definitely on my short list. I think if you are looking in the luxury 2 row suv segment its hard to beat the Lincoln. One thing the older boomer generation will always struggle with, is the digital synergy thats being infused more and more in this segment. If you struggle with the digital experience then the Nautilus is probably not for you. If you are comfortable with the digital experience, or perhaps, even welcome it, then this is the vehicle at the forward edge of that marriage. Will be interesting to see if other luxury brands start to steal some of the design cues that are in the Nautilus.
    I appreciate CR reviews, its always a good benchmark I refer to when I am in the market for any larger purchase. Yet I also inherently understand their editorial bias. Thats their lane, and they're reticent to leave it. The 'get off my lawn' style comments they intersperse in the reviews are known to be coming before I even start the vlog review.

    Does Lincoln even know their customers? Does anyone believe Lincoln will even be around in 10 years? Just the name "Lincoln" alone is enough for buyers to bail on the brand. Their autos are just not good enough with the likes of BMW, Genesis, and Lexus dominating the category. I think Ford, in general, needs a makeover & Lincoln needs to get the chop in favor of a new brand that targets younger/middle aged buyers.

      This guy completely overplayed the difficulty. Not to mention you can verbally bring up the climate controls. He is also wrong about the steering wheel.

    More things to go wacky and cost you unless you buy the extended warranty. The steering wheel is an offshoot to Tesla. Looks like a loser to me.

    This is why I don't subscribe to Consumer Reports " .... then the model it replaces, the Lincoln MKX" WRONG the last year for the Lincoln MKX was 2018 and the updated looks model in 2019 became known as the Lincoln Nautilus. ALSO the 2024 model contect list is 87% Chinese and is manufacture in that country. What the HELL was ford/lincoln thinking?

    So basically. this 2024 model is different than a traditional ICE car. Maybe this car is not designed for boomers? They are targeting a younger generation?

    What a train wreck of an SUV. But then typical Ford. Can't wait to see how long the transmission lasts. My wife would not ever drive this complicated interface. Designed by someone in an office who hasn't gotten their driver's license yet.

      I'm 66 and I love it. But the demographic for the Nautilus seems to be trying to capture a younger market than the typical Lincoln customer.
