Nice video. Some printer models will recognize a toner end condition soon after the reset (hardware wise) so you might to reset again or block the light barrier or swap the toner. You should choose the last option if you notice quality issues that will occure if there's not enough toner powder inside the cartridge to cover the entire toner roller surface (something you can inspect visually, too). I wouldn't recommend to "overdo" it (like ignoring quality problems) because if the toner roller isn't coated with toner you'll increase the wear of the OPC drum surface.
Good follow-on from the unboxing vid. Far too many computer generated slide shows with robot voiceover reviews on UA-cam these days - nice when real people talk about something they're actually using. Can you share your opinion on the general print quality? This machine is on my Laser printer short list, and am interested to hear how colour photo images come out. I'm not looking for inkjet quality, but it would be good if colour photos are half reasonable.
Thank you for your comment. I am very pleased with the general print quality. When it comes to colour photos, I would say the print quality is more than reasonable.
You're welcome :) You can use this button combination on all cartridges. In my own experience, it will work temporarily. I just finished filming the first part of my next video to get more toner out of the cartridges.
After sometime, What happens after you get a “Replace toner” message again for the toner you just resetted? Would that mean that it’s really time to replace it? Or would you just reset it again?
First I would reset it again, using the method shown in the video. However, when you have just reset the toner life and that message pops up again, the next method to get more toner out of your cartridge is to use a reset wheel. I'll show that in my next toner cartridge related video :)
Hello, make sure the machine is turned on. Press and hold the toner life picture in the lower right corner of the home menu for about 5 seconds. The menu will change. Press drum and select the toner colour of the drum unit you want to reset. Press yes.
There is actually a real technical reason for the toner cartridge to not be completely empty when done. In toner technology, the best toner particles are chosen first by the developer roller, so if you reset the toner, the powder left in the cartridge is of worse quality. I am in no way affiliated with any printer manufacturer. I still believe that printer companies are doing a lot of things to make even more money on you, but this is at least partially a technical reason, not necessarily just a way to make more money.
I don't get the full logic of the reset. The magenta level reading was reset to 'full' when clearly the actual cartridge was nearer empty than full. So starting from the reset, what level does the display actually measure and isn't there a risk of the cartridge now running out while the display is still telling you there's plenty of toner left.
the too early empty message makes you buy toner long long before it is needed. This and later methods prevent you buying new cartridges too soon and saves you a lot of money. The printer stops working because of the empty message so that is the reason you have to reset it. Yes the downside is that the only way to really notice the cartridge being empty is when on the print you start missing the color. On the other hand the metering of how much is still in the cartridge is a lie anyway.
When resetting the toner life doesn't work, the next step to get more toner out of the cartridge is to use a reset cartridge wheel. I'm planning on making a video about this.
I have noticed this as well. I am about to create a new video about the next method to get more toner out of the cartridge, and thereby reset the 'replace toner' message.
@@milogical9446 Looking forward to that! Feels annoying to throw away perfectly good toners just because the software limits the number of prints. Right now I'm thinking about throwing away the entire printer and buying a new one hoping that the new one won't have the latest firmware!
@@milogical9446 I was seriously thinking about buying this model you presented until I heard about the newer firmware problems. Will be looking forward to your next video if there is a workaround to that. Thanks in advance for your quality content.
@@milogical9446 i did and i even responded to you on that video. I have original cart ridges but there was no wheel inside. Super weird.. so method 2 is out of the question..
@@gabrielcalderon3 wrong! the "reset wheel video" tells that if you use original cardridges then you need to buy the wheel separately like Milogical did herself. She also only has the original ones and therefor needed to buy the wheel. She suggests to either buy the reset wheel separate or one time buy the replacement cartridge because it has the wheel inside. It seems you did not really pay attention to the reset wheel video
When the method to reset the toner life does not work (anymore), you have to reset the cartridge wheel. I'm planning on making a video about this method soon.
Yes, it did not work from here too. I first thought the ink problems, I ordered two, both from original ink, damn the stupid Brother printer, i completed the reset several times, still not working waste of money for my mfc-3750, I just got it for one year, $380 only good for one year, I ordered so many ink due to pandemic, I never buy the stupid brother printer again. It is total waste of money.
Hi Jennifer, I' m sorry you're frustrated. I would recommend not throwing away you're printer and all of your cartridges just yet. There are several ways to get more toner out of your cartridges. The first method you've seen is to reset the toner life. When that does not work, you have to reset the cartridge wheel (method 2 to get more toner out of your printer). I'm planning on making a video about this method soon.

Extremely useful tip. Thank-you!

You're welcome. I really enjoy using this loophole.
Hi Is there an update for this fix as it no longer works - Thanks so much
Wunderschön😊 erklärt. Gibt’s das auch auf Deutsch?🙂
THANK YOU!! THAT WAS PERFECT AND IT WORKED😀
You're welcome :)
Well explained, Thank you
I'm glad it was helpful!
Good video. How much longer (how many prints) does this workaround typically give you?
I do not have a clue at this moment ;) As soon as I do, I'll talk about it in another video.

Jan 2024 not working for me on this printer. I suspect Brother have done some kind of update to prevent this?
oh it did just work! took about 10 goes....

انا فعلت هذا الشيء مرات عديدة ولكن مرة تكون استجابة ومرة لا تكون استجابة.... ما هو السبب برأيك
Once it doesn't work, the wheel and spring need to be reset.
If you upgrade your printer firmware, you can't use this method any more. :(

DCP-L3551CDW reset Waste toner WT-223CL ?
To reset the toner life of the DCP 3551cdw use the same button combination. So the arrow and the red cancel button.
So its not an empty cartride, Brother just want you to buy over priced toner to boost their profits. Should be an illegal practice.
Exactly
Doesnt work anymore
