Legend for the rescue Dom, this bloke had alot of short fall for a kayaker, I used to fish the sound in a hobie revo 13 but I had leashes on all gear, saftey gear and even outriggers
Thanks alot Chris! I'm sure he'll be fully equipped for future trips.
Yeah fellow revo 13 here too, I’ve got outriggers on mine but I carry marine vhf, flares, epirb, bilge and a 150 pfd, touch wood but hopefully I’m a little more prepared than this guy
@1977fiero I dont have my revo anymore I am 130kg now so I really need a boat but just as I was buying one the wife got pregnant 😅. Be taking us all shore based now. Sold my 2015 revo 13 when I worked shit loads and moved inland. Live coastal now
Well done fellas. As a kayaker, the first thing you should learn is how to flip your kayak up the right way and how to get back in it. You have no business being out there if you can't apply this. Without these certain skills you will always be sure death is close by. This guy was lucky man. I saved a guy in the exact same situation in the Manukau harbour. Saw him 3 wks prior launching with no life jacket, no proper anchor system, basically no gear and no idea. I told him what he needed and he smiled at me and said he was a strong swimmer. He was in the water for about 3 hrs. I reckon he had about 30min left in him. Never saw him out there again after that.
We have all capsized on our kayaks while fishing and lossed a bit of gear.
Lucky he was wearing his life jacket.
A few rules to follow for this guy and all new kayak fisher persons.
Have your marine flares close by. If you can a marine radio.
But all kayakers must practice in calm and rough water how to re - enter their kayaks.
If not sure look it up on Y Tube there are quite a few how to over turn and get back on your kayak.
He has learnt a tough lesson and hopefully others will learn by his mistake.
That's exactly what I wanted to say too: Have your marine flares close by and obviously to learn how to get back on your kayak precisely for situations like this. Practice is key here. I would also add to tie/secure all your stuff; learnt this one the hard way😅
Thanks alot mate. The chap told me he did practice that in calm waters..he said he was exhausted after his third attempt to get back on it..the waves and wind a bit too much
@@FishTuckerMan Thanks Dom 😊, always love your work and your insights into our local waters. You and your mate are gentleman for helping out a fellow fisher person.
Nice work Dom, very lucky!
Everyone who fishes on Yaks should always go out with a mate just in case!!
Yes very! Thanks Chris! The bloke told me he usually fishes with a mate..that day he went solo
Nah.
Great work Dom ..well done ..
Thanks a ton
Well done,great work.
Many thanks!
Well done Dom, your now a hero.....
Haha..thought I was before this😄..thanks alot Geoff🍻

gday dom a million points of good karma to you and your mate ,that could have gone really bad really quick ,they call them shark buscits and i rekon your mate was right he could have been out there for a long time ,he was tired and could not right his kyak himself his gear was floating to the antarctic he is one lucky man thanks to the Fish Tucker Man and his mate well done guys .
Thanks so much mate! Yes ans so so correct!👍🍻
Great work guys, Bloody legends 👍👍
Cheers mate👍
Top job fellas.
Thanks Russel👍
Good on ya Dom & brother inlaw 🙏👍
Thanks alot brother👍
Saltwater kayak fishing is no joke! Good stuff guys
@yep.fishing it's an extreme sport! Thanks mate
Hi Dom & James, great work. A lot of boaters would have missed him , I pick up a guy out of his kayak towed the yak from Cockburn sound back to calm water in Mangles bay, wind was strong he could not make head way. I think that guy should wash and polish your boats for the next 1or 2 years, lol
Thanks alot mate, well done to you! Haha..about the boat cleaning👍
Good on ya fellas. Hopefully, he's all good and learns from the experience. The brotherhood of fishing is strong 💪.
He did well to stay with the craft, all good , and thanks mate👍
Good on ya boys! Love your content mate, you're a legend 🤙
Good job fella's 🍻. The fellow now needs to practice the same situation in a controlled environment like a pool, to make sure he can flip the kayak back over and get back on. Once trained he can go back on the ocean etc 👌
Thanks alot mate. The bloke later told me that he had done exactly that thing in the River, but he said the ocean and chop was hell to get back on it.
Thats true for sure out on the ocean its so much harder! @FishTuckerMan
Good on you guys!
God will bless you so much. well done!
Thank you so much! Very humbling
Lucky you came along could have been a long wait.

Good on you guys. Top blokes
Cheers for that mate👍
Good on ya mate 👍 Im sure he was relieved when you turned up. Makes me think I need to invest in some outriggers now for my kayak to go fishing in the sea 🐟
Thanks alot mate..to be on the safe side a personal epirb when out alone would come handy
Well done guys! Great job!
Thanks alot!
“How ya going mate?”
“Yeah not bad”
“You want a beer?”
Standard capsizing event in Australian waters.
@adamcooper553 haha..straight from the Ausie sea rescue book 😁🍺🍺
Bravo to both of you
Thanks alot mate
Great job getting him back. I picked up a guy on a rock once he had capsized in a large swell and the boat had gone down.
Thanks Troj! Wow well done to you..that would've been intense👍

I"m was thinking of joining the fishing kayak people, but after seeing how this bloke lost all his fishing gears and almost his life perhaps I should just stick to boating. Awesome effort in spotting him in the open seas. Well done!
@@dagamemastr1809 like most boating ..always check the weather before going out. Thanks mate👍
That effort itself deserves a Subscribe! Just like I did 🙂Good work guys!

Awesome work👊
Thank you! Cheers!
Who knows where that guy would of drifted off too. The kayaker shouldn't be out there by him self. Top work helping this man. top work lads.
As both a kayaker and a boatie, thank you for a Stella effort
@@anthmania thanks alot👍
Good on ya fellas
Thanks alot mate
Well played guys.

good work mate!
Thanks a lot!
I rescued a kayaker off koh samui laat year. Had sunk the kayak, no life jacket, hanging onto a fishing buoy. Spotted his head way out from a beach bar when I was a few beers under. No one else believed me or would help. Swam out and was able to put my rescue training into action retrieved the kayak from the bottom also! Boats were going past the guy but not stopping!
Well done ! Good job you did mate👍🍻
Great job fellas. He was buggered and if you hadn't got him it could well have turned out bad.
Thank you! He tried 3 times to get on the yak..he was exhausted
Thank you! He tried 3 times to get on the yak..he was exhausted
Solo kayaking is tricky if you can't pull off an Eskimo roll. With a second kayak, one can always turn the submerged one back over with help.
Nice one - onya ❤
Thanks Katie!
Well done. Conditions look perfect wonder where that wave came from. I've got one of those kayaks.
Cheers
The gopros make it look calmer..it was 15 knot winds with a 1.4 meter seas..cheers mate👍
Well spotted and nicely done 👍
All ways keep an eye out on the waters you never know what can happen.
Deffently slow down around kayakers as well a decent bow wave can nearly send them over.
Thanks alot mate..that's for sure
This happened to me 10 years ago i was rescued by a lone fisherman very emotional for me watching this i was hit by a freak wave i exhausted myself trying to climb on board my kayak almost made it few times but to no avail
That's exactly what the man told me later..after 3 attempts to get back he was exhausted..and the chop and wind made it very difficulty. Glad you made it safe! Thanks mate👍
Great work the two of you
