- As we're now into mid-march it's time to give a few of the plants their first watering of the year. I'll also show you some examples of what I look for on deciding whether or not to water a particular plant. Enjoy! :)

Great video Daz!!! I've already been watering. Some of the days have been down right hot in the greenhouse!! 8s& up to 90°F!! But still a few cold days & nights. This morning it was 23°F. Froze some of the outside flowers. Your little Astrophytum looked like mine you sent me before I watered. They sure pick up water fast!!! Thanks for sharing Daz!!! It's nice to be giving some of your plants very little water after their winter rest. I always thought that when you water you water well...but also did not have any idea they might rot! Spring is exciting. I have a gymno. that looks exactly like the very first one in your vid..............same size too ! It has several buds and looks like it might be getting more yet..............daily inspection 🙂 Also have a few other spiny ones that I can see new growth starting. Hope to see more flowers. They are all new since last summer when I started collecting again.

AWESOME and very well explained and detailed video about knowing how and when to decide to water the cacti and succulents after Winter Daz, and also about the right amount of water to wet their roots after winter, and thats so fantastic your Gymno Mihanovinchiii's are in bud already and your Neoporteria and Rebutia are blooming stunning, most of my polytunnel plants are still sleeping but wrinkling haha, but my office cacti and succulents are starting to come into growth and I will need to give them a wee drink to start them up very soon, its so exciting to start off the watering again for the growing season now YIPPEEEE, thanks so much Daz for sharing your awesome first watering of the year with us, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Edith lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to England and Singapore for a fantastic new week XXXX

Love the plants you featured in this video, Sweetheart. They have held very well this winter. The Gymno ‘Transformer’ have grown so much! Never thought they could grow that fast. Tons of pups! The Neoporterias are displaying their gorgeous flowers so early. Pretty soon, these plants will need repotting. 😂 Enjoyed watching with you, Sweetheart. Loved the update! ❤🌺🌼🌸💚

Great and informative video. Hope your gymno Rubra wont drop its bud and finally you get to enjoy its flower. Lovely to see some blooms already. I havent watered mine but I keep in the greenhouse and n8ghts are still forecast 3 if not less😒

Hi, i am curious, I live in new zealand (sub tropics) and got a gymno autum last year (along with other cacti), i keep them inside on NW and NE window sills, none of my cacti went dormant over winter ( i saw active growth) and my gymno has been constantly flowering or producing buds since i got it, and my astrophytum also worked on flowers over winter. So all winter i deep watered them once they were dry, none died. Am i wrong for doing so? What weather is needed to stop watering them?
Cacti usually need a winter rest period. It helps with blooms the following year but it seems that hasn't been an issue for you. As long as they get adequate light and aren't showing signs of etiolation I wouldn't worry too much. Thank you for watching and commenting 🌵☀️🌸🌺🌼🏜
Please make content about watering and care for the Abdelkuri, pleaseeeeeee. I searched all over and found zero videos in regards to that. Maybe you can share your insights,I have noticed you got quite a few of them. PLEASE 🙏 got one and feel a little lost
I only have one of those and I've not had it long. Most growers of those say to go easy on the watering with it. I will do a care video for it in the near future, though. Thanks for watching and commenting 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜
@@Cactimania mine was bought a few weeks ago,from a private collector. The soil is bone dry, I did not water it yet since and was wondering when would be the best time, being careful not to ruin the plant. Not grafted, rooted! Would now be the time? I don't know. Im throwing out the question here, maybe you or one of your commentators have something to say about that
@radhawolf4649 I think it will be fine to water it. Mine isn't grafted and I water it every two weeks. Just let the soil completely dry out before watering again 🌵☀️🌼🌺🏜

How often would you be watering haworthia now and would this be a deep one.
I deep water the Haworthia every couple of weeks now. Still always following that golden rule of letting the pots completely dry out before watering again. Thanks for watching and commenting 🌵☀️🌼🌺🏜
