Take away lesson: Sam needs to learn how to use a measuring tape.

My shed setup: Heavy-duty office table (£15 secondhand), random old wooden cabinet (£5) with the top screws removed so I can lift it off. A couple of pieces of insulation board bought on Facebook (£10).
I would recommend using a desk that has a very rigid frame to reduce the risk of wobble during printing.

I wish you had shown us an 'overall' view of the set up in the shed, a shot from a few feet away with the door open. Just so we could get an idea of the layout. Maybe you can show it in the future. I live in a cold State in the US and had a 1 1/2 car garage and wanted to work ( model making and painting ) in there during the Winter. I couldn't afford to heat the whole garage up, so I built a 'room within a room'. Simply made a 8ft by 8ft by 8ft room with 2 by 4's and drywall, with a door. A small electric heater and lights was all it needed.

My wife banished my Mars 3 to the shed, it gives me hope that one day I maybe able to convince her to insulate and warm the shed so I can make more minis!

I know the feeling all too well brother 😅 depending on where you live the temps should be approaching a reasonable range for printing and if you don't want to insulate the whole thing you can make a enclosure like I have for machines and just insulate that! The only thing is just getting power to the shed but after that it should be grand

@@battlebrothersam what are the prospects of the machines long term? When you're not using them the extreme variations of temperature on circuitry and electronics can't be good?

You know what, I'm not 100% sure! I never thought about that but you bring up a good point that is far beyond my knowledge

Waiting for the video where the police come round with thermal imaging, to see what you have been growing in the shed :) In all seriousness the shed looks awesome and very inspiring, I want to do something similar in the spring.

A very timely video as I am in the process of shopping for a shed to make my Manufactorum to get my printers out of my home office. I'll be sure to triple check my measurements.

The shed looks great, and I think for a pre-built it was worth it. I mean, you have to factor in materials, tools, expertise, etc, and if you don't already have those, it would be more.

I thought about doing something like this in my backyard. Then I thought about how much easier it would be for thieves to break into a shed vs my home.. So I changed my mind. Nice set up nonetheless 💯

I put my resin printers in a broken bench fridge. Kid safe, vents outside, easy to use, no smell. It's great!

Sam you know IKEA sell tape measures to right. Might need a new one.

I am currently in the process of turning my storage shed into a printer cave, the main reason being the toxic fumes from the resin/epoxy. Thsi video is a good one and I would most likely have gone with a premade shed like you did for my backyard instead of sacrificing a valuable storage shed instead.

I'm planning on setting up my resin printer for the first time in the shed this weekend as i've been holding out all winter and this was incredibly useful. A trip to Ikea and B&Q is in order!

There are cheaper options than buying new. Why buy a shiny new cabinet that is going to be destroyed by resin by day two?
I bought my desk and cabinet secondhand for a fraction of the price.

Great video. The advantage of an outdoor set-up is you can fling open the door to get rid of all the fumes 🙂I've been using Water-Washable resins, but my hollow prints keep splitting. What regular resin would you recommend for detailed robust prints?

That's exactly what I do when I open the wash station!! The fumes of ipa is so strong at times, I like using phrozen 8k aqua grey but it's brittle, sunlu abs like is quite strong

Thanks for the advice Sam. I've ordered both those resins. I'm just waiting for the weather to improve, and I will be back printing! 🙂@@battlebrothersam
