I do not recall how many times I have listened to this but each time it impressed me. Such wonderful melody and so expertly played by this lady. Same as her Rameau version. Many thanks for the upload here !
Looks like this music and performance really sticks with us, I truly love it and allthough I haven't commented (I think), I've always comeback through the years to listen to such beatiful instrument and performance.
Such a true musician; one who feels and embodies the music. This performance is nothing but perfection. Her expressions and phrasing are so fitting, making the piece such a wonder to hear...
She absolutely took my breath away. At about three minutes I thought I must have been staring at the screen for hours. I was completely detached from this world. Five stars.
Abel was in my mind a somewhat lesser composer than either Marais or Bach but still a very important composer with a somewhat serious and very introspective tone or approach that has often been termed "haunting" or "melancholy". It is this and much more. Abel's works are deeply personal and very affecting but must be played straight and not too sappy, or to my mind they lose their power and grace. Bravo! Here is some wonderful playing to do Abel proud. Bellissimo! Thank you Nima Ben David.
Me too, coming back several times since I saw this video the first time. I can see and hear a so strong concentration which we call 'presence' and what I look for in music. Thanks to Nima Ben David and Abel.
This is so beautiful, I do often listen to this while I study and also just watch it. There is something so pure and godly about Nima Ben Davis, like she belongs to a higher world.
Spectacularly beautiful playing on one of the most beautiful and expressive of instruments. Thank you Nima. Damn, girl, I bet you feel humbled and grateful being able to play like that!
Thank you soooooooo much for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Viol da Gamba is the most amazing instrument ever produced, I wish it would come back on a large scale!
Wow...she is amazing. Wonderful music. Beautiful instrument. I came here out of curiosity about the viola da gamba. Had never seen one. Wonderful wonderful. Thank you to performer and poster.
She is beyond lovely. An angel, sent straight from heaven. Who is this profoundly exquisite feast for the eyes? Was she perhaps a model before turning her skills towards music? I cannot even concentrate on the lovely music, as she has bewitched me with her otherworldly visage.
I absolutely LOVE this piece!! And the performer's expressive mastery keeps me coming back for repeat listens. I think I want to play this instrument . . .
C'est super.Le son grave du viola da gamba ça calme mon coeur et mes esprits. Ma belle soeur Katok joue aussi très bien on attend un lien d'elle impatiemment
Stellar virtuosity, you can see she truly "feels" this peice and instrument, my fave. Bravo Nima Ben David. 8 dilikes, really? Her playing makes her a beauty to my eyes and ears. Un cultured Berks everywhere I swear.
The frets on a viola da gamba are made out of gut. They are moveable--you can slide them up and down to achieve perfect intonation. Nima Den David's expression and musicianship are outstanding!!
I love the expressions on her face! I think she's the first string player I've seen who makes faces while playing music. Most band kids that I know make faces, but not very many orchestra kids. None of the above is meant in a bad way! I love this kind of music, it is very beautiful!
not much compositions for this intrument and love the fact that is not so popular. hOw deep the sound is. oh,,,so increadible. kudos to the player and all involved.
This must be the best video to show the capabilities of the viol---it is so expressive and subtle at the same time. In complete contrast--yet also showing the capabilities of the viol--watch Jordi Savall and " The Celtic Viol"---that's unbelievable too.
I'm with you, Chainedorlo! I love string instruments so much; they are wonderful voices and languages to explore. Have to be careful not to neglect them though! This video is wonderful and I've always been intrigued by these instruments...
brava! coming from a singer, one of the most celebrated mezzos currently is Cecilia Bartoli and she is famous for both her magnificent instrument AND her crazy facial expressions.
La più bella versione mai eseguita. Un'artista dalla tecnica di ferro e un immenso cuore ❤️
I do not recall how many times I have listened to this but each time it impressed me.

Hauntingly beautiful; she plays with such ease and emotion. I can't stop listening.
Bravissima. Mi piace molto il suono della viola da gamba, così grave e profondo, intenso e difficle da tenere legato.
She absolutely took my breath away. At about three minutes I thought I must have been staring at the screen for hours. I was completely detached from this world. Five stars.
Still the best performance of this piece on youtube

This is the best rendition I’ve heard of this piece.
Me too, coming back several times since I saw this video the first time.
I can see and hear a so strong concentration which we call 'presence' and what I look for in music. Thanks to Nima Ben David and Abel.

I think i just fell in love with this woman, beautifully played, moving interpretation.
I'll only go to a church where this woman gives the sermon on viola de gamba. Amen.

What a stunning backdrop...
The richness of tonal resonance of the Gamba is like that of the Ud.

honestly, it doesn't matter what she looks like, the point of the video is the beautiful music she plays.
What sublime musicianship.
Thank you. I was momentarily transported to another plane of existence. I wish I could have been there to take in this performance.

This is really fantastic! very unique, it looks like an instrument from the Renaissance.

It's a bass gamba. This piece is from "27 pieces for bass viol" by Karl Friedrich Abel.
Beautiful
