I simultaneously fell in love with the sound of viola da gamba and the artistry of Jordi Savall after seeing the film“Tous les Matins du Monde” (All the Mornings in the World”). It was a life changing experience. I’m a professional cellist who has been inspired by Mr. Savall to learn how to play the gamba.. When Maestro Savall plays alone only then it became painfully obvious - his exemplary mastery of an instrument and deepest affection for the music. Passion and poetry, emotion and musicality - all came alive at once in his performance. He is a singularly talented musician and just as an extraordinary person. His renditions of every piece he choose to play are so affecting that somehow one feels that it is exactly what one wants to hear. Though each piece is of a virtuoso grade, yet each one feels so organic and natural, refined and elegantly an emotional quicksilver. Pure magic... Thank you, Maestro.

Have loved the viola de gamba since I saw the wonderful film "Tous Les Matins du Monde" many years ago. Jordi produced the music and of course played the gamba on this most magical of films. The music most associated with the Gamba, especially by the composers Marin Marais and Monsieur de Saint Colombe is so ethereal and speaks to something so deep within us that it seems to encompass the world of human emotions like no other music.

Such a shame that with things like this there's only one chance to hear them for the first time. Every time I hear it I miss the state it put me in back then. By mind was struggling with chaos just like it does now, but the music for a few moments calmed me wholly and it was like a breath of cold evening air when the Summer's about to end. A state of longing for what was but also knowing that, what was wasn't as perfect, as we so often like to convince ourselves and it wouldn't have been the same if not for this electrifying and remorseless yet welcoming feeling of something having it's end.
