    ABOUT ME:
Thanks for visiting my channel, I hope you enjoyed the video! I founded Caterpillar Cross Stitch in 2015 when I tried desperately for months to find a modern baby sampler my mum could stitch for new baby Felicity that would fit in with her simple, contemporary nursery. I love cross stitch, running, baking fruit cakes, drinking gin, eating salted caramel ice cream and most crafts!
See you soon and happy stitching! Sally x

That's really neat. i own a pair of embroidery scissors shaped like a unicorn with the blades being the horn, and when others told me they had bird-shaped ones, I was kinda "yeah, guess it makes more sense to have a beak opening", but it's neat to see this history

haha, I've seen those scissors! They're pretty cool too. I have had to make a deliberate choice not to collect scissors. Embroidery floss is way cheaper to hoard!

Over 50 years ago I bought a pair of these darling scissors for my dad to give to my mom. I still have them.

Very interesting! I loved that the midwives scissors that you showed had a little baby in the inner part of the handle when you open them up.

Thanks Ford. That was actually very interesting, and to actually see a picture of the midwifery clamps was pretty cool too. Nugget says you did a very nice job. Take care.

It was great to see Nugget! Also, I keep forgetting to tell you we both have purple hair so clearly you are also an exceptional person! I ALWAYS wondered why these fine tipped scissors were always storks. Makes such a lovely bit of history although I’ve never found them terribly comfortable. Lol

Yeah, I forgot to bring any fabric scissors to an event recently and had to cut down a piece of fabric using my storks. My fingers were a little mad by the end.
I learned about this history and thought it was interesting enough to share with the audience, especially since as a man who stitches I am very interested in the gender politics of fiber arts so the history of the medium is something I always like to read up on! Thank you for watching and commenting!
