    I have actually used a weighted blanket for years (different brand than the Blanquil). They are very beneficial for anyone and I love mine. I have Asperger's and anxiety. I like to wrap up in my blanket when I watch TV if I've had a hard day or am feeling stressed an anxious. I'll also use it to help me sleep if I'm having a hard time at night. Yes they are quite expensive but I think that's just due to all the material they have to use to make one and because they can claim it's therapeutic.

    Loved your review and all of your videos. I have PTSD and suffer from anxiety after a medical treatment (Ketamine for CRPS) went wrong. I also get night terrors. I had someone make me a quilt with pockets on each square. There is a loop and hook closure at the top of each square. The pockets allow me to add rice in baggies which then weigh down the blanket. I can take them out when I wash the blanket. I love it! Recently my sister visited and she used the blanket for 10 days. She also loved it. It is summer here in FL but the blanket is great. I would recommend a weighted blanket to anyone who might be struggling with mental issues. 💙💙

    Great review! I'm SO GLAD you brought up using this blanket on children with disabilities. I have a 5 yr old son who is on spectrum, and I have researched weighted blankets to possibly use for him. Like you said, you're only supposed to go as heavy as 10% of your body weight, so 20 or even 15 lbs is way too heavy for a small child. Throw in the child being non-verbal and/or have limited mobility and this could be a recipe for disaster! So bravo to you for saying this and bringing awareness to the subject because some parents truly dont know these blankets must be used according to the weight of the child.

    i love the weighted blankets, i wish i could afford one. my experience with them was while i was in surgery it felt so warm and comfy i asked the dr if i could sneak this one out with me. it relaxed me so much i felt like sleeping during the surgery and i was suppose to be awake.
    good to your daughter again and more then just a split second too, she is beautiful and you need to throw in some of her art work in your reviews to help out her career. or try and give her more reviews to be in.

    Weighted blankets changed my life, I went from getting 2 hours REM sleep a week max to at least 1 and a half hours a night, I charted my sleep for 3 months and it's remarkable how much having a weighted blanket positively impacted my quality of sleep. I highly recommend getting one to anyone who has sleeping issues, that and using white noise like rain or wind, both helped me immensely.

    that blanket looks so soft and warm. I have anxiety and depression and my kids are....not autistic but are very sensory influenced so as soon as I can afford one of these I want to try it out. they have different weights depending on your size so kids would not use the same one you would. Side note to add that I am older (almost 40) and had been without a cat for a couple years and had to talk my hubby into another one because they really are amazing bed cuddlers. their warmth and purring is like a sleep pill. Edited to add that your daughter is adorable.

    It's a similar principle to Dr. Temple Grandin's "Squeeze Box" which she developed to help with her own anxiety issues, then adapted for use with stressed cattle. Weighted blankets are highly recommended for children all along the autism spectrum. Great review!

      They would help you but its better to go with a different company that actually customizes them for you. Picking just a weight doesn't help and can actually make it worse. If you get one to light it doesn't provide that comfort but if you get one to heavy for some it can make them have a panic attack.

    • @silverdragonfour
      @silverdragonfour 6 років тому +3

      pierre11167 weighted blankets are quite helpful for anxiety because they apply deep pressure. My therapist actually recommend I get one. Although I'll be making my own because I'm a poor college kid. However 20 pounds is pretty heavy. How heavy it should be is determined by your weight. I forget the actual ratio but I think it was either 5 or 10 percent of your body weight plus 2 pounds? Or maybe just a plain 10% plus nothing. Like I said, I forget.

    We use a weighted blanket for our physically and developmentally disabled son my daughter is adopting. He is 18 so he can kick it off if he wants to. It is just one piece. Very soft velvety material on one side and more cottony soft material on the other so you can choose which trxture you prefer. It has the separated pockets of weighted “stuff” in them just like the one you reviewed. We washed ours on low and dryer it on low a few times so far. It washes up like new. My adopted grandson seems to like it a lot - it calms him down when he is getting upset. He can’t tell us how it feels but it seems to help him.
    My 18 yr old granddaughter has anxiety issues and after hearing what the blanket did for your daughter, I am going to get one for her. My granddaughter describes her anxiety and wanting to cuddle a pet when going to sleep exactly the way your daughter describes it. Thank her for sharing that with us.
    We got our blanket from BearHugBlankets through Etsy. You get to choose your fabric. The have a lot of choices. They are expensive too but they are made to order. You pick fabric and weight. And ours is washable. Not much difference in price as the blanket you reviewed
    Edited to say: it just occurred to me hours after I wrote this, we have a 10 lb blanket and it washed and dried fine in our washer/dryer. But a 20 lb? That’s pretty heavy. I think it could do some damage to your washer/dryer. The 10 lb may not be doing any favors to my appliances but they are still working. Our blanket has washing instructions that says it can be washed and dried. Read your individual blankets labels and think about the wear and tear on washer and dryer.
    Also, for children, 10% of the child’s weight or close to it. A 20 lb would not be appropriate for a small child.

    Another great review. Your daughter is very pretty. I thought about getting one for my son who has a social anxiety disorder but the price is awful high. I've been subscribed for a while. I remembered that you did a video on these blankets. My wife bought a weighted blanked, and I like it, but it's lumpy, as in the "weighted" parts aren't evenly distributed. So I came back to your review as I remembered that you did one, maybe the Blanquil is better. I enjoy your stuff dude, you're OK.

    I purchased the 20lb Blanquill from Costco - only $100.00 there. I was impressed with the quality, but found that the weight was loose inside and fell to one end. There were no instructions with the blanket and I had not even noticed the zipper at one end. Your video enlightened me and when I checked, none of the corners were tied down. I will now easily fix that problem. I do find that I move less in my sleep. The outer covering is very smooth - like velvet. I do find it to be warm, but it's cold here on the east coast and I find the warmth of the Blanquil a positive. Now that I know how to secure the weight inside, I'm very pleased with it - the quality is high. Very glad I watched your review as I was going to contact the company about the shifting weight. So, in short, I'm a happy customer.

My blanket can be washed, but the instructions recommend using a commercial front loading washer. Even though this is expensive the benefits are worth it.

    I’ve always wanted to try a weighted blanket. Might help with my movement, nightmares, and overall anxiety. Especially recently, I haven’t been sleeping well at all. My biggest issue is that I hate sleeping hot, I can do warm, but being really hot means I won’t sleep at all. And the pricing. It’s seem REALLY expensive for something I’m not sure would work for me. I really wanna try one though.

    I might have to get a few of these if I can find them for a cheaper price. I have anxiety issues, but I mainly want to get one for my daughter. She is mildly autistic, and LOVES covering up with blankets. Even if its hot inside. I bet she would love this thing. I would probably have to find one that is 10lbs though (she is 8).

    This would be great for someone who has autism or other disorders, my son has sensory issues and he always has to sleep with me and not only that, he is getting growing pains so when the blanket heats up a little bit it would be great for him, so I think after seeing this review, I think I'm going to buy this

    • @SpiritDragoness

      Leonard Crate just wondering, how old was your son when you realized he has sensory issues? How do they present themselves? My 3 year old daughter is not like other kids, so i was wondering, maybe she has something similar. She too cant sleep without me, and looks for physical contact with me trough out the night. She will toss and turn till she finds me and puts her leg on me or till i put my hand on her back or hip. She sleeps a lot calmer with the contact. I don't know if its just a learned habit (i co-slept with her since birth and she was a breast fed baby) or if there is a deeper issue. But during the day she cant stand being hugged or touched, she will push me away... so i just give her a kiss on top of her head instead. She tolerates that better. She is 3 years old now, and the doctor just shrugs and says all kids are different.

    • @leonardcrate
      @leonardcrate 6 років тому +1

      SpiritDragoness, well when I realize he had sensory issues he was about 2 month's (now 3 going on 4) he would cry during the middle of the night every night, and either me or my girlfriend (now fiance) would have to get up and hold him for about an hour or just bring him in bed with us, it was very hard for me to do that because I work 11 hour shifts at a music store and I'm a musician (Bass player) so I do gigs with a few other musician friends at top notch hotel lounge's and restaurants so I really have to try hard to fit in my sleep schedule with that as well, and I'm going to start touring the east coast very soon so it's going to be hard to be away for awhile but he was also breast fed until he was about 10 or 11 months old so maybe he's just used to that physical contact, not to sure, I even took him to the doctor to see if he had any disorders like autism or tourette's syndrome like I had when I was young but I grew out of the tourette's but the doctor said he's just fine so maybe he does need that physical contact

    I can't fucking wait till it's winter so I can actually use it lol. But when I did sleep with it for one night when it was 70F, I had some crazy ass dreams O.o.
    This is summers worst enemy blanket because the weight of it, the blanket practically hugs your skin so the heat doesn't escape. So like I said, can't wait till it's winter and it hits -20F

      It's not 20 seconds because they want your money and run off with it lol.. There are other people who are stalking the site and there's a limited amount of codes they give out that gives you the big discount, so it's first come first serve.
      Not to sound like a commercial but... I ordered like 20+ items so far and it's been successful. It's like the dollar store, but online and it's not complete shit. Only like 50% shit and the other is semi-shit, and once in a blue moon you get something like.. a weighted blanket for only 20 bucks.

    Sounds interesting. I don't have anxiety or any of the listed conditions it states it has a theraputic use for, but I move around a lot when trying to sleep, and it tends to take me well over an hour every day for me to fall asleep. Something like this might be a good option for me. Not so much in summer though, even with AC my existing comforter is a bit warm as it is.
    Seems it's not readily available on Amazon in Canada though. If it has a retailer, it's probably some sort of exclusive deal. It's also rather on the small side for me, but maybe that would be mitigated by me not moving around so much under it in the first place.

      ac3ofspades878 you should look into the different materials. Some of these blankets use plastic pellets same as in weighted teddy bears, but there are others too. Where i live, buckwheat husks are popular, natural, eco friendly product. But not friendly with washing though like the plastic pellets are. The soft battings are different too, material and weight, cotton or synthetic. Cotton i guess will be cooler. Try looking for more info as i am not an expert.
