      I loved his review. He's saying it's difficult. He says it's problematic. I commented that I felt stupid for buying one from an Instagram click-through and was sorry that I wasted my money! I saw his video after my unfortunate purchase. But he's done a great job in this series and test products such as this waste of my money. He underscores the points needed to make the decision to avoid it. And he's got the real product. Mine was some sort of rip off similar but not same which added to the failure and my lesson has been learned! Fantastic video channel here.

      Actually the UA-cam algorithm promotes videos with higher levels of engagement. Likes or dislikes don’t matter as long as there’s someone clicking something. That’s why everyone tells you to like, favorite, comment, and subscribe- to get more views on their video because there’s a higher engagement.
      They don’t take his money away or send it to the dark reaches of UA-cam.
      Videos with a high dislike ratio still get views and it’s because there’s engagement

      Kodopuna I have to disagree. Think about how much space four of those would take up in your freezer. Opposed to having four ice trays. Sure they are longer, but you can stack them on top of each other. Then once you’re water is frozen you can put other things on top of the trays. So having really thought about it now in detail. The fact that you can stack trays makes my statement true, not an opinion. Also there is the fact that you get far more ice from the trays.

    As someone who uses lots of ice and does not have an automated ice maker...this seems like too much work for a small amount of tiny ice cubes. It also looks like it's take up a bunch of space in the freezer compard to a traditional ice tray.

  • @dianahilliard8966

    I have an ice Genie and I make the ice and then put it in the regular ice holder (comes with the fridge) along with the other ice trays that I have. We like the ice Genie because we can put the ice in our water bottles, the other ice is too big. Also, even though it says to check the cylinder with your hand, if you press down (at least with mine) until it clicks, then there is no problem. There are pro's and cons, but the pro's are the tiny ice cubes and if you have a container to put the ice cubes in, then there is no hassle getting the cylinder out (even with my arthritic fingers. Great video, my first time was easier because of your video.

    An epic fail. The small cubes would melt too fast in a drink, it takes too much time and effort, doesn't make enough ice fast enough. I thought it might be OK to use for a drink mug if you just left the ice in it but then I noticed the white part is just a cylinder. Those trays emptied faster than it took you to even get the white part out.

    She lives in a small studio right now with a smaller than normal fridge, using this actually saves her a lot of space since she can't really fit normal ice cube trays and have room for food. She really likes having the already frozen ice and the water to be frozen in the same space.

    • @ShintogaDeathAngel
      @ShintogaDeathAngel 5 років тому +3

      Cathy Childs Morrison this thing is advertised as 'space saving', as apparently those old fashioned long, shallow ice cube trays take up the whole freezer or whatever. So, if you have to dump the ice into a second container while freezing more batches, it's not space saving.
      There's also a high chance of all that loose ice then sticking together in a useless lump, which in fact did happen.
      James is also following their instructions, so if he's doing it "wrong" it's THEIR fault, not his!

    • @spiffpilot2589
      @spiffpilot2589 6 років тому +3

      Ya, because getting a bag of ice when you're already at the store for other things is just SO difficult.

      Sig Pilot it’s more cost effective in the long run to get an ice tray plus like half the of the bag of ice melts and you end up with big chunks of ice once you freeze it again basically it’s inconvenient.

      Sig Pilot yeah for people like me who would rather avoid people it is

      Luxxer123 yeah but if you need to go the store a bag of ice would be perfect and it’s only 1 dollar.

    The first and second batch will melt slightly because of the temperature of the water being warmer.
    That creates the ice disc on the bottom.
    I'll stick to the plastic or silicone cube shaped maker. Or, the plastic icecube bags. These cubes are too small and too much hassle!
    They will melt before chillin' the drink.
    Thanks for the review though 😉

    I have a tiny freezer. Ice cube trays don't fit in there. So I bought two of the Ice Genie's. I love them! They fit perfectly in my tiny freezer.

    I watched this video because I was going to buy an Ice Genie, but that's so much work it's easier to buy ice trays. My issue is I don't have room in my freezer for the ice trays. Maybe I'll get a counter top ice make instead. Great video!!!!

    A textbook example of over-engineering, it's not even a decent novelty product. Also, that's quite the slick setup you've got there for your reviews. I think you had about 8000 subscribers when I started following your channel, it's been very neat watching your channel develop.

    Easier to just drive to the nearest convenience store & buy a bag.

    Seems like gadgets rarely works as advertised. I often wonder if the makers of these products reason that if enough people buy it one time, and only a small percentage of those people return it they’ve made a profit.
    P.S. Anybody remember the old metal ice cube tray with a matching metal divider insert? Other then freezing your hand off those were the best.
