Manileño - Horizon Manila | WTA

- Manileño is a masterplan that focuses on the people who make up the storied and vibrant communities, from Chinatown to Tondo, from Quiapo to Baclaran, that define Manila and make it the distinct heart of our country. Instead of the usual top level master plans, It stitches together diverse communities(or barangays) that come together to form a kaleidoscope. Each community is developed around unique public amenities and plazas that allow its residents to develop a shared experience. These unique features are never too far from the next, encouraging not just exploration and interaction, but also making sure that the next community will have its own features that define the boundaries between communities. Shared experiences and defined boundaries strengthen and reinforce communal identity.
The massing of the masterplan is centered around a 4km long canal park. This urban valley recalls the settlement of Manila along the Pasig River and bolsters the idea of Manila as a city by the river. This also ensures that each community is either by the canal or by the sea, building up a biophilic lifestyle centered around the water of life. A more relaxful and gentle lifestyle that flows along with the waters as our ancestors' did. The canal and waterways also form a reservoir that ensures water self-sufficiency for Horizon, allowing it to even provide water to water-starved Metro Manila.
The main highlight of Horizon Manila is the canal park, a unique and enriching feature that will define the lives of all its residents. The canal park not only connects the 3 islands but also provides Horizon with a public park at its core that stretches all the way to the water's edge, ensuring that the Manila Bay sunset will always belong to the public. A viaduct with a monorail system allows direct access from Manila to the islands. From the Central Station, the trackless electric tram system loops around the development and no place in the island will be more than a 5 minute walk away from a tram station. All the roads will be tree-lined and will feature 8m wide sidewalks with 3m arcades that ensures you can walk in the shade or away from the rain anywhere in Horizon. The development emphasizes personal mobility with pedestrian and bike lanes and looks to encourage a car-free lifestyle for most of its residents.
Horizon Manila will feature hyper local public amenities that give residents a diverse mix of program and activities in each community. These facilities include micro libraries and pop-up galleries and museums, as well as the country's first e-sports arena. A state-of-the-art basketball arena will be enhanced by basketball parks throughout the islands that reflect the prevalence of streetball in our culture.
The three islands of Horizon Manila are arranged East to West with the long faces along the north-south axis. The individual parcels are also arranged accordingly allowing each building to minimize heat gain. The vertical massing of the masterplan creates clustered towers that keep certain areas shaded all day. ensuring that you are never too far from a cooler part of the development. This tropically appropriate and locally suited planning combined with other features ensures that Horizon will have a much lower microclimate compared to the existing city.
We see Horizon as the City of Tomorrow. It is envisioned to once again bring back development and growth back to the City of Manila. It will reestablish Manila as the heart of our nation and provide a model and impetus for the rehabilitation of the old city center.
Brilliant plans.. More jobs will come up.. God bless the Philippines
Thank you for building the Philippines! God bless🇵🇭🇵🇭🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Nice to see the young generation of this country rises to the challenge.
Wow! I hope I’m still alive to see this. Also I hope the next president after President Duterte will support and approve of these project. When will this start?
If this is the modern Philippines it's going more fun to the Philippines

I think they should build one iconic tower in that area for tourist attraction, like eiffel tower
Yeah....like Petronas of Malaysia.
It's too close to airports it would be too dangerous if they construct it there, maybe in BGC would be a better alternative.
Wala n nmn tayong tower
Hope they will build in clark green city for the iconic tower. Dun walang sagabal. Hope NAIA will be close soon and they will transform into bussiness district. May Bulacan airort na e under San miguel
hmmmmm, construction starts at 2nd quarter of 2021 huh...quite strange that I didn't knew about this already. I need to research again.
Hahaha hahaha

My aspirations is to rebuilt the Espanic buildings along Pasig river, when we decongest Manila,
That should be the goal of the Filipino architects, instead of making skyscrapers and stuff. Oh well, most of the Filipinos do not appreciate history anyway so I won't be surprised.
@@georgiebennett3336 Im so envy for early Filipino pre-ww2 era they saw how BEAUTIFUL MANILA was that time!😂😂 maniliño today they do not know what they are and who they are!
Sadly that wouldn't happen, a lot of old colonial buildings had upper levels made of wood... first, wood is very expensive nowadays and not to mention the destruction that it would cause to our nature. Second, it's also a fire hazard... and to make things clear, a lot of the old concrete Neo-Classical buildings that you see around Manila were considered during the American period, not Spanish period... examples of this are the Manila Post Office and the National Museum.
It's about time someone like Jose Acuzar take over NCCAP and work with Dept of Tourism.
@@dayangmarikit6860 Using wood is actually a very good way to store carbon.
I am really amazed with the presentation, architect.
Looking forward to it.
Although why not try to plan first inside before outside? I mean the problem inside of Manila. I think there should also a project inside. Like providing houses to those who are below poverty. And so once they move, you could do more projects to those empty lands where they live before.
Awesome concept! This is the future of Manila! This will happen sooner or later!!!👍👍👍
It's not just a concept. Construction starts at 2nd quarter of 2021
I hope middle class can afford this, not only foreigners and the rich.
I doubt it. It looks like prime realestate.
you want foreign investors pouring in additional income to our country? This is it.
We are already behind our ASEAN neighbors like Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand.
@@adamtson Vietnam still behind Philippines.
Only riches can afford those and i don't even care about it. Kung mas maraming units ang mabebenta ng gobyerno sa Horizon manila at mga mayayaman ang bibili eh mas malaki ang kikitain ng gobyerno which they can use to start up a housing plan.
@@sleigh4821 Yeah right. The profits from this project are all going to the pockets of our politicians.

I hope they won’t forget to fund the rehab of the many historic treasures of metro Manila such as Intramuros/fort Santiago, Manila zoo, planetarium, Manila/Philippine museum, Nayong Pilipino, etc. Seems like kids nowadays aren’t aware of these places anymore for all they knew is going to the mall.

How about improve the existing Manila City we have now? It would be better than another reclamation with the threat of rising sea level and continuous deterioration of old Manila City.
Considering the old city has history and culture you could imagine how hard it would be to change and improve the foundation that was set ages ago. And if you want change, sometimes its better to build a new settlement rather than to fantasize about the place you call home, would just magically change on its own, cause it wont.
@@mechanicalbreathing589 trust me I’m an Architect. 😉
thats why they have this to decongest the rapidly increasing population in manila so the existing manila would rehabilitate and finally remove alk informal settlers (squatter), specially in tondo and binondo that would transfer as central business district from squatters if they built this, although there is no more poverty in manila anymore since we are high income economy in 2040
Wow Ayus yan.
What is the timeline in building this city? Hopefully it can be built quickly. We need next gen fast building technologies.

Did they say where this will be built ? In the bay itself? There was so much optimistic rhetoric, they never explained where and how this will be built.
I’ve seen several presentations on extensive modern development around Manila, but I havent heard one thing about the preservation of the city of Manila itself. The City of Manila has so much history and it was never properly re-built after WWII. Would like to see more interest in re-viving the charm of the old Manila of Spanish time. Revive old Manila!
New York City in the making

How about the waste disposal and supply of water??
