Love your channel. I have a Creality 10 watt laser that I’ve had for about 6 months now. Just added the AtomStack X70 Max for larger and thicker materials. Keep up the awesome content.
Looks like a beast of a machine! Thank you for the review. In a side note is the Clack Shack ‘open during the week’ I am going to be going down 65 Monday for work. I always enjoy meeting folks from around here when I can. Have a good one.
good presentation - I presently has a A20Pro with a fan that stopped working - Im trying to get a new one from Atomstack - I really like the A70 and am seriously thinking of purchasing one in the very near future
Regarding the 36v and 24v connection, I’d turn it over and mark the sockets with the F1 red laser. You’d have a more permanent mark. I’ve been looking at this as my second laser. The F1 being my first.
Question about the cleaning of the laser lens. I clean mine everyday, I have to remove it, take off the nozzle, run a q-tip with alcohol on it around the lens. Then put it back together. Listening to you talk about getting the Z axis just right made me wonder how hard it would be to clean the lens? Great video, I liked the consideration of putting the assembly at the end. I watched but I like not having to skip through the video if I didn't want to watch it.
Steve on a stick had me laughing.. I had a little bit of a tough week and that made my day... lol 🤪I don't have the Atomstack, I have the Atzer P20, but I still like to watch your build videos. The overhead camera angles are very helpful! thanks for the great content and the laugh as well!
Hello. New to Atomstack - silly me got it as a first laser A70 Max and now stuck as I cannot use it properly. You said in the video you will share your settings for LightBurn, but I cannot find it, could you help me? where are those can be found? Also would share a video on a project maybe? something simple? where you also share your settings? I have been testing my A70 max and my cuts are getting clearer, but the engraving cannot get clearer at some point, and I have seen laser make beautiful clean readable writings or pictures but I have no idea how to get there. Unfortunately I have decided to buy a laser that is quite new and there are not many "overexplaining" videos or videos with simple settings that can a newbie try or follow? Would you or your friend, "Steve on a stick" would consider making a video like that with A70? Would be amazingly helpful. Thanks for the video.
I recommend speed and power tests for everything. Also, make sure to use air assist when cutting. I have lots of videos that even though they are on different machines, the process is exactly the same. Have fun..
@@TheClackShack Thanks. I have been doing a lots of tests, but they are disasters unfortunately. I am not sure where is the error really. I am watching videos with different machines but my issue is the settings for this particular laser. Air assist is always on when I use the laser, so that shouldn't be the problem. Maybe I have set it up incorrectly somewhere. I did try to loosen the belt, not with much luck, as it is only getting loose on the down side, so the top is so stretched, no idea how to address that issue either.
@@TheClackShack I really think something went wrong when I setup the laser. If I understand it correctly, the 45-test is that you have to lift up one side of your laser and the it has to roll away. Well, I have lifted up mine 45 degrees, 60 degrees, even 90 degrees, it doesn't move a muscles, not unless I push it or pull it. I have tried to loosen the belts, but nothing changes, that is so "well" fixed to it, it only rolls if I manually move it.
@@TheClackShack thanks for the reply! I’ve heard from them 5mm in one pass but am curious as to the glues used if that would be an issue with its cutting ability. Seeing it cut plywood so fast tells me it shouldn’t be an issue. A lot of power vs Creality’s 60w they say can cut 3mm bamboo at 900mm speed. Can I ask where you got the laser glass for your enclosure? Thank you.
i pull the trigger and got the Atomstack A70 max I have some questions my other laser i was able to buy replacement lenses am i able to do the same with this machine
Can you do a side by side cutting test with the 30w MK2? I am going with the XW MK2 when it's released and am curious how much faster that extra power will cut same material and design
Great video. I'm looking to buy an A70, could someone tell me the overall footprint of the laser frame, so I can see if it will fit in my space. Thanks
We purchased the x70 max about a month ago. It worked great out of the box, then I switched it over to my shop air. Shortly after that, I noticed it wasn’t working well. The protective lens was cracked. Have you had any issues with this?
Shop air is great if done correctly, making sure water is not in the line is crucial. Lenses can crack with use but water will crack them quick. Shop air setup for diode lasers ua-cam.com/video/Wns4spUMBqQ/v-deo.html
Hi Dave, been following you since nearly the beginning. I just received this same unit, A70, and I'm running the latest version of Lightburn but I can't get the unit to run. I'm struggling with the set up. Everything went together fine. I set the laser up per the book instructions and even set up the laser module as you noted, close to the surface, but I'm getting "machine exceeds maximum range of motion" and a light burn error 22: Feed rate has not been set or is undefined. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm happy to pay for a consult if you arrange it.
It is likely the Z axis setup. Remove the honeycomb from under it and sit it on a flat surface. Connect the module to the machine and make sure the z probe contacts the surface at 0. You have to make sure the physical and digital location of the Z axis are the set up properly.
I have the Ikier equivalent of this laser. For 35 watts, I'm getting a 0.1 mm kerf, for 70 watts, I'm getting about 0.14 mm kerf (0.004" and 0.0055" respectively). It is definitely a bit larger than the 20 Watt xTool D1 Pro kerf.
Hi I bought one of these that is the A70 Max and am having trouble connecting it to my Mac this is not the first laser that I have used on this mac through lightburn either. When I click on the device button to home the laser it says; ALARM 9 Homing fail.Could not find limit switch within search distance.Defined as 1.5 * max_travel on search and 5 * pulloff on locate phases. ok Grbl 1.1h['$' for help] [MSG:'$H'|'$X'to unlock] [MSG:Caution: Unlock] ok Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Check the installation of the z axis. If it is not properly calibrated during install, it will cause that. The focus probe of the zaxis needs to be even to the surface where the feet are sitting. Do not set it based on a honeycomb or etc
The Z offset on my d1 pro messed me up for the first time yesterday. It made my engrave about 1/3rd of an inch off center. Drives me nuts but thankfully it was for my mom and she still wanted it.
Okay I hope I'm not repeating myself I can't find the comment I just made so probably messed something up.... What are your thoughts on the larger version have you heard anyone using that? The max
From what I can tell, the mechanics are the same, just a larger frame, longer belts and cabling. I just didn’t have room for the bigger one. Rarely do I need anything that requires that size work area. I also have a 4x4 CNC if I do.
CO2 and diodes are different animals intended for different materials. For wood, it works great but bed size is also something to consider. Both have their limitations but I like mine for what I use it for.
Hi David, two questions: 1. have you any updates on this laser since this initial review - you gave it a spot in the shop, is it having any issue holding onto that spot? 2. In your videos I notice that you have dramatically changed the way that your interlocking panels look (seem to be much smaller) have you been updating your etsy store with the changes for older machines (still using Atzer P20) for example?
It is still king for cutting. I use it every week still. I am improving upon the design on newer versions but what you are probably seeing is the DIY kit that I am running in my enclosures. They are minimal but do take more permanent setup.
They call it PRO and it isn't even built as a closed-box machine with safety features. Avalanches of NO-PRO toys which are launched on the market on a monthly basis, everytime "This is the best by now" but it's just a little less crap. I was hoping for a video showing the complete cleaning process
The rest is easy, compressed air, microfiber cloth and alcohol. Add oil
you can add a led light to your enclosure to indicate its on/off status.
