    Thanks for the tour of your condo and some sights of Hua Hin. The cave looked cool, beach looked nice, and food looked delicious.

    Nice to see you back in SE Asia, we have Hua Hin on our destination list also. We have explored a small sampling of Thailand and Vietnam in 2017 only wish Thai visas or visa exempt were 90 days at least, maybe someday.We are off to Argentina for the winter trying to avoid these Canadian winters. We look forward to following your adventures..Cheers

      Hey there! I agree on the visas! In 2022 we were able to get a STV visa which was 90 days but they don't have it anymore! 😢 thank you for your feedback and I hope you enjoy our adventures! Happy retirement! 😊 Thanks for leaving a comment and for watching ❤

    Looking forward to your feedback on Hua Hin. Plan is to head back to Thailand in Feb starting in Bangkok. Hua Hin doesn't offer direct flights to Ko Samui so we are trying to figure out which 3 places we can conveniently hit in 4 weeks. Good to see some Canadians on here

    The USA were supposed to have trialed and stored Agent Orange herbicide in Hua Hin around the airport during the Vietnam War days. Some years ago a cache of drums of chemicals, some say could have been left over A.O was dug up buried near the runway, I often wonder if the abandoned graffiti building marks that spot as I drive by.

      Very interesting! Maybe this one is just one of many abandon buildings..... like this one, a old night club! 👍

    My GF and I know of another USA couple who just relocated to Thailand with the intention of settling in H-H, mostly because of a few newbie UA-cam vloggers they had been faithfully following. Sadly, once they actually saw H-H in person, they decided to settle elsewhere. We eventually heard the usual complaints, including:
    * "No beach road";
    * "Access to the beach is limited to just a handful of pathways";
    * "Beach is too narrow and rocky/coral-strewn in parts";
    * "Parts of the beach are restricted to beachfront-hotel guests";
    * "Busy #4 divided highway (Phet Kasem Road) running through the center of town";
    * "New rail line and train station may be a curse in disguise";
    * "Not-so-easy access to Bangkok and points north";
    * "Insufficient critical mass of culture & amusement for long-term stays - boring after awhile";
    * "Flatulent horses/donkeys befouling the beach";
    * "Aggressive monkeys inclined to rip off unwary, isn't-he-so-cute tourists" -- not just on Monkeyface Mountain (as we call it).

      Hi there, I can totally understand all these points.... over all, I think Hua Hin has its +'s and -'s all depends on what you are looking for. No harm in looking at areas to try. 👍

      @@wattstraveling Thanks for your reply. The key thing for prospective ex-pats moving to Thailand is to be 100% honest about what someone really likes and doesn't like. In our case, we initially liked the look and quiet of the brand-new H-H villas but soon felt noise would be a problem in the future. We have learned of several expats bringing dogs and children with them, which will, along with the villas' high-density and small yards, bring western-style noise and liberalism with them. So, instead we chose high-rise beachfront condo living in Jomtien, 40 floors up.

      @@wattstraveling You are so right. And just think of all the "dead money" tied up in something as basic as shelter in Ontario. That's money unavailable for business investment, education, travel, hobbies, charity, etc. And caused by whom? Real estate agents (with their blind-bidding wars), home-reno "flipping" shows on HGTV, and a general FOMO (fear of missing out) attitude. And the clueless TV "home-decorators" who shame viewers into trashing a perfectly good kitchen or bathroom every 10 years. I always thought it was funny how Torontonians, with all their wokeism of the past 30 years, sure love to make money speculating on real estate and stay out of the dodgy neighborhoods.

    Pat - ta - ya, most people mispronounced this name. Yep, was my home for a while back in the late 60's. I would not go back there now. Hate to say it, tourists/ tourism and making money had ruined that beach town I used to love.
